7. Meeting the Boys

*My last few chapters were short so here is a longer one enjoyy c:

It took a couple of minutes but I finally saw him walking up. He was wearing gray sweats and a red hoodie. He pulled out his ear buds and smiled when he saw me. I jumped up and ran to him, giving him an unexpected hug.

“Hello to you too” he laughed.

“Hi” I giggled embarrassed at the bear hug.

“I thought we’re taking things slow?”

“Shut up”

He winked at me.

“Wanna go back to my place?”

I raised my eyebrow. That question could be taken so many ways.

“Ya know, meet my mates?” he corrected.

“Why not”

He grabbed my hand and led me to the house he always walked too. It was a few blocks away from my house, but in a more fancy part of Brooklyn. The windows were dark, was he alone?

“Hey,” I said pulling him back before we got to the door.

“Yeah?” he asked.

“I’m really shy” I confessed.

It always ruined so much for me. I never really had many friends when I was in school. When I switched to online school a year ago I lost all of them for the most part.

“Oh don’t be ridiculous” he smiled, “they are the easiest people to talk too. They’ll love you”

I sighed and watched him turn the brass door knob. Instantly I saw for boys’ faces lit up by the light of the tv.

“Hurry shut the door” one yelled and Niall did what he asked.

We walked behind the couch they were sitting at and watched the TV along with them. They were watching Jackass 2.

“Ohhhhh” they all yelled in disgust and excitement at one of the things Steve-O was doing. I had to look away because my stomach couldn’t take it.

Niall grabbed my hand and dragged me to the empty couch along one of the living room walls. I didn’t really want to watch a movie, I wanted to talk. I guess doing this was better than being at home.

With my luck the movie ended within 15 minutes of us sitting down. One of the boys went and turned the DVD player and turned on the TV. I took a good look at all of them, their eyes squinty trying to adjust to the bright light.

“Everyone, this is Carson”

They all chorused “Hello”

“Carson, this is Liam, Louis, Zayn, and you know Harry”

“Hello,” I smiled only looking at Harry; I wasn’t good with eye contact and strangers.

“So you’re Carson huh?” Zayn asked playing with a piece of hair but soon looking at me.

“Yeah” I nervously laughed.

“She’s an Olympic gymnast” Harry added sitting up.

“No, not yet!”

“Someone’s humble” Louis coughed in his hand.

“It’s fine if you are”

“I’m not” I said my voice slightly raising.

It was 4 against 1, and clearly I was losing.

“Okay okay, we’re going to my room” Niall said standing up.

I followed his lead.

“Get it,” Louis teased.

Niall’s pale cheeks turned a shade of scarlet.

They all got up and harassed us until we got to Nialls room. They were like children but I could understand why thousands of girls were crazy over them. They were all so…attractive.

Niall opened his door which was basically on the other side of the house. Before Niall walked in I heard Liam whisper, “She’s hot,”

I felt butterflies form in my stomach.

“Back off” he joked but I could tell on the inside he was completely serious.

He shut the door and laid down on the bed beside me.

“So what’s going on?” his tone changing to soft and caring.

He ran his fingers along my jaw bone. His fingers were rough, but I found it soothing,

“My brother is home from college. He and my mom together harass me about me gymnastics to the point I want to leave home,”

His icy blue eyes stayed focused on me. I could tell he was carefully listening to me. It reminded me of the last time I saw my dad. I felt a big ball well up in my throat, the one you get before you cry.

“Before I came here they were bothering me on what I was eating and basically said I couldn’t get fat. Look at me! I don’t have the body of a normal 17 year old girl. It bothers me every day but I have to live with it because it’s gotten me far. Some days I want to quit gymnastics because of all the pressure. I haven’t have fun in years because I’ve been locked up in the gym. I want to keep with gymnastics but I can’t handle my family anymore”

I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I tear escaped the corner of my eye. He was quick to wipe it with his calloused thumb.

“Shh” he comforted me as more tears fell. He was quick to pull me into a hug and tell me everything was alright.

“I’m sorry,” I whimpered.

“For what?” he laughed, “You just need to let it out. I’m here”

I smiled. How could I be so lucky?

“What time is it?” I asked playing with his fingers. His hands were the most beautiful things on him, weird to say right?

“It’s a quarter till nine. You should probably get home.”

“I have a question…” he said biting his lip.

“Yes?” I smiled.

“Can I come watch you practice? Well the boys and I?”

I got up from his bed and checked my hair in the mirror.

“Sure, if you want. It would be boring,”

He shook his head and waved his hand. He would soon understand.

“Want me to walk you?” he offered sticking his hand out.

“I don’t want to you walk home in the dark…”

New York always scared me in the dark. Anything could happen.

“I’m fine walking home. I’m a man”

I laughed at him while he was flexing his muscles.

“Drive me?”

“Fine,” he sighed.

We borrowed one of Harry’s cars and he dropped me off in the drive way next door. My mom would kill me if she knew where I went.

“Meet you 5 in the subway?” I asked.

“We’ll meet you there," he said leaning over and kissed my cheek. I got out of the car and slowly walked to the house. I came home to my mom and brother watching TV.
