Going for the Gold

Carson is a 17 year old that has only been surrounded by gymnastics. With the Olympics coming up, she is pressured into perfecting each routine for trials. One day, when her mom couldn't pick her up, she was forced into taking the subway. In the one cart she decided to sit in, she met someone that would change her life forever. Will Carson go to the Olympics and get the gold she has been practicing years for with that special someone by her side?

12. Meeting Again

The next four days were the worst. I woke up, my mom took me to gymnastics, and then Andrew would pick me up. I couldn’t leave the house at all. Andrew was watching the front door like his life depended on it (well with my mom it kind of did). I have no sign from Niall. The more I didn’t see him, the more I wanted him. I wanted to be more than friends; I wanted this to go to the next step. I told Andrew we were just friends, but Niall would understand the situation right? I mean, we were talking, not dating yet but close. We never really had alone time either for anything to happen if something were too.

I was spending 10 hours at the gym every day since I was put on lock down; from six in the morning till four in the evening. Every day, I expected Niall or the boys to show up and watch me but I was always disappointed. It was probably best they didn’t show up. I needed to focus on one thing, and that was gymnastics.

All my routines were perfect. I couldn’t have done them any better. Something hit me that everything just fell into place. I still couldn’t believe that in 3 days I was going to fly out to Pennsylvania to compete with some of the best gymnasts in the US. Plus, it was going to be filmed. I have been filmed before, but it didn’t feel like a big deal because hardly anyone watched gymnastics. Now that it was Olympic trials, there would be thousands of viewers….

I got up from my bed and went downstairs to see what Andrew wanted. For the most part, we were getting along which was weird. I was used to the tension there was between us. Plus, he was going back to Kansas in a few days so I might as well make his visit enjoyable. My sister should be coming in a few weeks.

I stomped down the stairs and found him in the kitchen.

“We need milk.”

I laughed, “Go get it yourself”

“No Carson, we need milk

He was playing some game and I wasn’t catching on…

“What?” I asked so confused.

“Lord Carson, one of your friends came over to apologize and of course mom isn’t home. He was desperate to talk to you and I felt bad for what mom did so I said you’d meet him at the store. When mom comes home I’ll say I was in the middle of doing something and we needed it tonight,”

I couldn’t believe what was happening. I ran up and hugged my brother tight. I was so happy, butterflies grew in my stomach.

I ran upstairs and put a shirt on (I was in a tank-top) and a pair of jeans, grabbed my wallet, and was out the door within seconds. I started down the street and realized Andrew didn’t tell me was store. I kept walking until we came across one my family normally went too. I decided just to go in and pray it was right.

I walked in the door and the front of the store was empty. I walked to the back of the store checking every isle. When I was just about to give up there he was, little specks of his blonde hair were sticking out from under his hat. He was wearing a white polo that made his arm muscles look huge.

I ran to him and hugged his tight. He quickly responded, picking me up and spinning me around.

“You’re mum hates me” he laughed.

I wrapped my arms around his neck tight; I didn’t plan on letting go any time soon.

“I think she hates me too,”

He laughed again and let me go. I wanted to hug him again, I loved his warmth.

“You’re brave for coming over” I said grabbing his hand.

“When someone means a lot to you, sometimes you have to do stuff you don’t want to,”

“Did you make that up?” I asked biting my lip from smiling.

“Nah I think I heard it on Tv yesterday,” he winked

“Awh, how smooth” I said winking back at him.

“So do you know when you get your phone back?”

“No, I have a gut feeling today though,”

“Good. Because I miss you like crazy,”

He bent in, I swore he was going to kiss me, but it was just another hug. I just wanted him to kiss me already. He would be my first kiss. I know I’m 17 and I haven’t been kissed, but I really don’t care. I’ve been so busy with gymnastics; it was the last thing I worried about.

“Well I need to get milk. Andrew snuck me out and I have to come back with something”

Niall gave me a weird look but didn’t say anything. He walked me over and I grabbed a carton of milk. We checked it out and he walked me to the house. It was about six, my mom should be home already. The sky was already turning into a blackish-blue. One by one, we watched the street lamps turn on.

“I miss you,” he said looking down at his feet.

“I miss you too.”

We stopped at the house next door to mine.

“I leave in 3 days, I’ll be gone for about a week” I frowned.

“It’ll be okay,” he smiled, “that’ll be nothing”

“How long are you in America?” I asked putting the milk down and grabbing both of his hands.

I loved his hands so much.

“We’re not sure. A few more months,”

I began to smile.

“But I can’t promise. They change our schedule so much.”

“Well,” I sighed, “Then we might as well make this fun”

He looked deep into my eyes, then all over my face. I looked at him, capturing every one of his features; his nose, his eyes, his lips. He grabbed my jaw and tenderly kissed my lips. I kissed his back. The kiss only lasted a few seconds, but that’s all I needed.

“See you soon?”

“Let’s hope”

He kissed me one more time and walked away. He literally just walked away. I wasn’t good with goodbyes but I felt like that was the best.
