5. Breaking the News

When I walked in the door my mom’s Roast smelled up the house. She had the radio blaring.

“Having fun?” I yelled over the radio.

She jumped and ran and turned the radio off.

“I expected you to be back late,” she explained.

I took off my coat and boots and ran them up to my room.

“You didn’t drink too much, right?”

She was always concerned with what went into my mouth.

“No mom. Just a hot chocolate,” I sighed.

I help her finish dinner, taking the bread out of the oven and preparing the potatoes.

“What’s with all the food?” I asked. Normally it was just me and her eating.

“Didn’t I tell you? Your brother is coming home.”

“No…”

She always forgot to tell me stuff, important stuff. He was in college at Kansas University and I barely ever saw him because he was so far away. I didn’t want my brother to come home. He was twice as bad as my mother when it came to gymnastics. Now that trials are in a week and a half I didn’t know what he would be like.

“Sorry dear, your sister might come too.”

She began to prepare the salad.

“Is there anyone else coming that you’ve failed to tell me about? Dad?”

“Oh no” she said her face looking hurt. I forgot he hated bringing him up.

“Sorry. So when is Andrew supposed to be here?”

“Six. Go get dress.”

I did as I was told. I stomped up the stairs and checked my phone. Niall had sent me a message.

“Niall: Thanks for the talk. (: I hope we go somewhere”

My fingers glided over my phone, “Don’t worry. I have high hopes for us (:”

I threw it on the bed and search through my dresser for something to wear. I settled on black skinnies with a plaid button up shirt. I put my hair up in a messy bun and curled a few pieces to frame my face. My phone when off with Niall texting back.

“Niall: Harry can’t keep you out of his mouth. Ur mine though (:”

Harry was awfully cute, but Niall was right. I wanted him….right?

“Don’t you worry” I sent back.

I carefully put on eyeliner and a little mascara when I heard the doorbell ring.

“Carson!” My mom yelled at the stairs.

I took a deep breath. Now it was time to deal with Andrew.
