Going for the Gold

Carson is a 17 year old that has only been surrounded by gymnastics. With the Olympics coming up, she is pressured into perfecting each routine for trials. One day, when her mom couldn't pick her up, she was forced into taking the subway. In the one cart she decided to sit in, she met someone that would change her life forever. Will Carson go to the Olympics and get the gold she has been practicing years for with that special someone by her side?

9. A Bad Landing

I chalked up and we started on the bars. I did my full routine once without any trouble, thank god.

“Wow,” Phil said amazed.

Normally I would have messed up switching bars but I didn’t today.

“Let’s do it again,”

I got chalked up again and got on. I flipped around the bars and finished my routine. I did it at least 12 times without messing up.

“What’s going on Carson?” Phil smiled, which was rare.

“I told you them watching would help,”

He patted my back and let me have a five minute break. I got my water bottle and sat on the bleacher with the boys.

“How do you even do that?” Harry asked in awe.

“Years of practice and my hands ripping” I said chugging the rest of the water.

“What are you doing after this?” Niall asked.

“Taking a shower” I winked, “No but nothing,”

“He wants to take you out” Louis said making a kissy face at me.

“What he said,” Niall laughed.

“Carson times up!” Phil yelled from the floor.

“I’ve got to go, fill this up?” I said giving him the puppy dog face.

“Go,” he said smacking the water bottle on my butt.

I turned back to see Harry getting up to fill it. Bless him.

“Okay, from the beginning”

I stood in my first position and wait for the music to start. The second I heard the music, I ran and did a double back handspring. I went through my routine, feeling the music through my whole body. I went to each corner of the floor, my footprints visible from the chalk on my feet. I stood in the corner and took a deep breath. My last stunt was always the hardest. I took off and did my stunt. I flew through the air putting my body in the correct position. As I was landing I didn’t bend my left leg enough and landed on it hard. I fell on my back, my leg throbbing. I grabbed my legs and let out a scream.

“Carson!” Niall and another boy yelled and I heard them run towards me as did Phil.

“Boys no no! No outside shoes on the floor!”

All five ripped their shoes off and kneeled around me.

“Let me see” Phil said pulling my hands off my leg.

I winced as he stretched it out.

“Carson, you have to bend your leg. In a week you have trials you can’t be doing this.”

After stretching it my leg felt tons better. Phil got up and went to get me ice.

The boys comforted me while we wait for the ice.

“You’re brilliant” Liam smiled.

“Thanks,” I smiled wiping my eyes.

“Are you going to be able to compete?” Niall asked.

All the boys looked worried. If my mom was here she would be yelling at me.

“Here,” Phil said handing me the ice, “You’re done today. Go home and get some rest. Keep your leg iced. Be here tomorrow normal time,”

I tried to stand up but quickly fell back down. Pressure on it hurt so bad.

“I can’t get up” I said getting frustrated.

“Louis call the car and we’ll take her home.”

Niall and Harry picked me up and took me to my locker and helped me get my stuff out. I put my shirt on and Niall helped me put my spandex on. I had to admit it was a little awkward.

They both picked me back up and carried me outside. Within a few minutes a black SUV pulled up and they helped me in. I told the driver my address and he started for my house.
