18. Move On

*Tessa's POV*

It's July 22, I barely have one month left with Harry now. We've been living together for about three weeks now, and everything was going great. Except for the annoyance of the paparazzi. They obviously figured out I was Harry's girlfriend, and that things between us were pretty serious, so they followed us around wherever we went. Even if we weren't with each other.

The fans knew everything about me, even the fact that I could sing. I had no idea how they figured it out, and I was a little too scared to find out. The only thing they didn't know was the strained relationship between me and Mike and Jo Ann.

We argued a lot about my relationship with Harry. Mike and Jo Ann seemed to think he was distracting me from my future. I tried to hide the arguments from Harry, but I couldn't do that for more than five minutes. So he tried to stay at the diner with me as much as possible.

Right now, he was outside on the phone with his mom. It was another quiet day at the diner, until Nico walked in. He was holding hands with a brunette in a belly shirt. With a huge 'YOLO' tattoo inked into her hip. I knew Nico brought her here on purpose, it was his attempt to make me jealous... It wasn't working.

I was just about to walk over to his table when Harry grabbed me from behind and kissed me.

“Hi,” I smiled against his lips.

“Good news,” he said, wrapping an arm around my waist.

“Say it,”

“I never really told you but my sister, Gemma, is getting married.

“That's great!” I said.

“And I can bring a date,” he winked and brought our faces inches apart from each others.

“Who are you gonna bring?”

“Well,” Harry's cool breath was against my mouth, it made me tremble. “There's this really beautiful girl that works in a diner. I really fancy her-” I cut him off.

“Is she your girlfriend?”

“Yeah, but she's kinda out of my league.”

“I'm sure that isn't true. And that she would love to go with you,” I said. Harry kissed me.

“Good. We'll buy a dress on Sunday. The wedding is in three weeks. We leave for England in two.” I smiled and he walked away. When I got to Nico's table, I noticed he'd been staring at me.

“What can I get for you guys?” I smiled.

“Burger and a coke,” Nico said. He didn't have to tell me though, he always got that.

“A salad and a water,” The brunette smiled at me and handed me her menu. I wrote down her order and walked away. Nico followed me.

“Can we talk?” He had his hand on my waist. Harry looked concerned, I nodded at him reassurance.

“You got five minutes,” I said coldly. He took me to the side of the diner outside.

“I see you're with Harry,” he said, folding his arms,

“I am, he makes me happy.” He rolled his eyes. “What, are you jealous or something?”

“No! I really like Cassandra.”

“If you did, you wouldn't be trying to flaunt her in my face, and you definitely wouldn't be talking to me right.” I said.

“Alright, so I'm jealous.” He admitted. “And I want you back,” Nico tried to move closer to me, but I stepped away from him in disgust.

“No, Nico. You had your chance. For three years I gave you a chance. And now that I'm gone, all of the sudden you want me? You should have realized what you had when it was yours.” I expected Nico to say something, but he didn't, so I kept going. “You cheated on me. You lost me, and now I'm gone-”

“You're not gone! You can't just forget about everything we had!”

“We didn't have anything! All you ever wanted from me was sex! And when you finally got it, you left. Why should I even consider taking you back, now that I have Harry-” I felt a pair of lips crash onto mine. He pinned me against the wall, I could feel the longing on his warm lips. Despite my resistance, I couldn't pull free from his grip. It was when he tried to slip his tongue into my mouth when I had enough. I pulled away from him, but he tried to kiss me again.

“Nico stop!” I yelled. His lips brushed mine again, and I wasn't as strong as he was, so he succeeded in kissing me again. That's when a pair of strong arms pulled me away from Nico.

“She said stop mate,” Harry said coldly, pulling me close to him. Nico and I both started to cry. We broke each others hearts on purpose. We shouldn't be together, it's not right.

“Get off of her! She's mine!” He charged at us, consumed by rage. Harry quickly pulled me behind him. Nico pushed Harry away from me and tried to grab my wrist. Harry punched him in the jaw and watched as Nico fell hard to the ground. He was just about to get up and try and hit Harry, but I stepped in between them.

“Stop! Both of you, stop!” They just looked at me, their breathing heavy.

“I said get away from her. Tessa's mine-” Harry cut him off.

“Not anymore, you had your chance and you wasted it. All you ever did was use her, and treat her like she was nothing to you...” He wrapped an arm around me protectively. “She's everything to me mate, and I don't plan on giving her up for a long time.” We were just about to walk away, until Nico spoke again.

“Tessa, please. I'm sorry for everything I've ever done to hurt you. And I know you miss me as much as I miss you. We're meant to be with each other... I can give you more than he can. I know everything about you, I can be with you all the time. You don't ever have to be away from me, and I won't make you sacrifice anything for me. Please...” A small tear fell from his face. “I love you.”

Despite it all, there was still no meaning behind it. I know what it feels like to have someone tell you they love you, and genuinely mean it. Harry tells me every day. When Nico said it, they were just words coming out of his mouth.

“Nico, you had me wrapped around your finger for three years. You took me for granted... Harry and I love each other, a lot. He's done more for me in a month than you ever had for me the entire time we've been friends. But I don't want to let you go completely, because you're right, I do miss you. So I'll be willing to be friends with you, but that's it. Nothing else.” A smile appeared on his face and he got up to give me a hug. I backed up and looked him straight in the eyes. “But I'm gonna tell you something you never had the guts to say to my face... Nicolas Mercadante, I will never feel the same way about you, ever. We're just friends.” I wrapped my arm around Harry. “So move on,”

We left Nico at the side of the diner, crying. When we got inside, we found his table empty. Cassandra was gone.
