STOP BULLYING PETITION

Any form of bullying can lead to serious consequences. Cyber bullying is one of the worst form(s) of bullying. Suicide is the most common. Death is no joke. I've lost two (now three) of my best friends in my life and they were very close to my heart. They were like my sisters/brother.

Let our generation(s) make a difference. Trying to gain 500,000 names then 1,000,000 names - enough to get people's attention to see what bullying really does to their victims, no matter how old they are and what they go through in life. They just feel powerful when using force and anger on their target. But really, they (bullies) are just like us.Taking their problems and turning them onto their targets. HELP STOP TODAY!

THIS IS A PETITION TO STOP BULLYING ONCE AND FOR ALL. SPREAD THE WORD ON TWITTER, FACEBOOK, TUMBLR, ETC. LET THE WORLD KNOW BULLYING CAN BE STOPPED.

8. Statistics of Bullying

We all know bullying as a sign of teasing, name calling, verbal abuse, etc. But, what else lies in bullying? Is it violence? Is there more to bullying that we don't know? Violence is another thing in bullying - when an argument or situation unfolds, a fight or 'break-out' happens. (Read 2nd point).

Effects of bullying and what bullying can do to the people who have been bullied?

Those who have been the targets of bullying can suffer from long term emotional and behavioral problems. Bullying can cause loneliness, depression, anxiety, lead to low self-esteem and increased susceptibility to illness. In the long term it can lead to post traumatic stress disorder and an inability to form relationships.

Bystanders - Who are they and what do they do?

Often bullying takes place in the presence of a large group of relatively uninvolved bystanders. In many cases, it is the bully's ability to create the illusion that he or she has the support of the majority present that instills the fear of "speaking out" in protestation of the bullying activities being observed by the group. Unless the "bully mentality" is effectively challenged in any given group in its early stages, it often becomes an accepted, or supported, norm within the group.

Bystanders who have been able to establish their own "friendship group" or "support group" have been found to be far more likely to opt to speak out against bullying behavior than those who have not.

Scenario

Bystanders who were at the scene of Amanda Todd's beating at the front of the school witnessed the violent group who were hunting Amanda, the alleged "friend", his girlfriend and a couple of other people. The students at that school just stood there, watching. No one tried to help her. No one asked her if she was okay. Amanda Todd was in a chronic bullying cycle - a cycle of bullying she could not get out of.
