Ally has moved from her home in Sydney, Australia, to Croydon on the outskirts of London. She's starting off at a new Boarding Academy called Bromley Academy London, where she is studying music. On her first day, she makes friends with a group of musical prodigys, and it seems like there's love at first sight. Is everything what it seems, or will a dirty little secret ruin her new frienships?

34. Christmas #2

Dan and I had woken cuddled up under a blanket on the couch, the telly turned on and the tree shining next to us. It was eight and so we had gotten ready, before I kissed my parents and Joey goodbye and Dan had hugged them and thanked them profusely. When our clothes were on and our pajamas packed away, we called a cab and were on our way to Dan's house. It was about an hour's drive, and we got there around lunch time.

"Mum? Dad? I'm home!" Dan called as we walked through the front door and kicked our snow covored shoes off. Dan wasn't kidding about his family having money, his house was even larger than mine. He set our bags around the corner in the sitting room and put our jackets away in the closet.

"I guess they aren't home." Dan said. "Want me to show you around?" He asked. I shrugged.

"Sure. Where'll I be staying?" I asked. Dan bit his lip nervously.

"Well, we don't exactly have a guest room like you do... So either I can sleep on the couch and you can take my room, or we can share. I've got a large bed, but it's whatever you're comfortable with." Dan said. I willed myself not to blush as I shrugged.

"I don't mind sharing as long as you don't sleep naked." I said. Dan blushed and nodded. He grabbed both our bags and carried them up the stairs, setting them inside the first room on the right.

"This is my room," He said. waving his arm around broadly. I laughed and looked around at the posters of Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder, and Eminem. His bed was extra large and had thick, warm looking blankets. "If you don't mind." He said, blushing as he layed down on his bed and closed his eyes. He let out a quiet sigh and his lips curved upward. I giggled at how cute he was.

"It's been a while, sorry." Dan said, blushing and flipping his hair as he sat up. I laughed and flopped down next to him. His bed was as warm as I expected it to be, and the blankets felt like silk.

"This is nice." I said, closing my eyes. Dan's hand found mine and he held my hand as we laid there in silence. I wish he would just tell me how he felt.

"Daniel? Are you home? Is Ally with you?" A voice called.

"Yes, Mum! We're up in my room!" Dan called back. I kept my eyes shut for one more second before I sat up and put a smile on my face. Truth be told, I was super nervous to meet Dan's parents as well. Dan squeezed my hand and smiled at me as his Mum and Dad appeared in the doorway. Dan jumped to his feet and hugged them both, and I couldn't help but smile at the way he closed his eyes and breathed slowly and smiled slightly as he hugged them.

"Daniel, it's so good to have you back. I missed you so much." His mum said quietly. I smiled and stood off to the side, wishing I could leave them alone during such a personal time. Dan gave his mum a quick kiss before turning to me.

"This is Ally. Ally, this is my Mum and Dad." Dan said. His mum gave me a hug and his dad shook my hand.

"It's great to finally meet you. Dan always talks about you." His father said, and Dan blushed, looking down at his feet. I blushed and thanked him.

"It's wonderful to meet you as well. Dan's missed you both so much and I'm so honoured that you've let me intrude on Christmas." I said. His mum waved a hand.

"Dan was begging. We would've let you stay anyway, but it was sweet to see how badly he wanted you to be here." His mum said. I blushed even redder and a glance at Dan told me that he was blushing too,

"Don't embarrass the poor boy too much, Jo!" His dad said, swooping in to save the day. I saw Dan give him a thankful look. "Dinner will be in an hour, can you believe it's nearly five?" He dad asked. I glanced at my new watch and shook my head. I saw Dan's mother give him a look, but I couldn't see what it said. On the bright side, whatever it said she was smiling.

"Well, we'll leave you two alone and go prepare. Be ready in an hour." She said, and his parents left the room.

"What do you want to do for an hour?" Dan asked. I shrugged and laid back on his bed, looking around his room some more. "We could just watch some telly or talk." He suggested. I nodded and kicked off my shoes, curling up under his covers.

"Talk." I said. Dan laughed and took his shoes off as well, climbing under the blankets. We talked about Micky and who all was going to be at Christmas, and Dan teased me making me guess what he'd gotten this time.

"Dinner!" His mum called up. I sighed and pouted at Dan.

"I don't want to get uppppp." I whined. Dan laughed and leaned over, picking me up.

"I'll carry you, damsel in distress!" He said. I giggled as he carried me piggy back down the stairs. He dropped me off outside of the dining room and we walked in together to see a massive chicken and potatoes on the table. Dan pulled out my chair and we dug in, splitting a leg because I wasn't very hungry. We made small talk and his parents asked me lots of questions about Australia.

"Well, you've got about an hour before presents, so you two feel free to do whatever. I'll be baking some biscuits and your father will be watching the telly down here, but you two can do whatever you'd like." His mum said. I nodded and Dan and I curled up on the couch next to his father, watching some childrens Christmas cartoon. Dan's arm was around the back of the couch behind me, and I was curled up at his side. Today it felt like maybe he liked me... but just wait until tomorrow and he'll probably act like he doesn't even know me. I dozed off for a while, thinking about Dan and Niall and Leigh.

"Ally." Dan said, shaking me slightly. I blinked a few times and looked up at him, a yawn escaping my lips. He chuckled. "You fell asleep. It's time for presents!" He said brightly. I sat up straighter and wiped the sleep from my eyes. Dan's parents came in and we all sat around the tree. Instead of opening them one person at a time like at my house, we all opened them at once.

Dan's mum had gotten me a pretty necklace with a vintage button charm on it, and her father had gotten me a book of sheet music that were all classic songs. I thanked them both and opened my gift from Dan. Inside of the box was a photo book with a few different pictures of us, as well as the poloroids from the paint fight a while back.

"Dan, I love it!" I said, giving him a hug. Dan shrugged.

"Danielle had to help me a bit, but I'm really glad you do." He said, smiling at me. "The first picture's my favourite." He whispered before kissing my cheek. The first picture was of us dancing, holding hands and grinning and singing on the tables in the cafeteria. It was taken from just inside the doorway where Danielle had been. It was taken as my hand was holding his shirt, when I was about to kiss him.

"Thanks so much!" Dan said after he opened the box with the framed photo of he, Niall, Harry, Leigh, Jade, Eleanor, and I at dinner when we went out for pizza last week. We were all on one side while everyone else was on the other. I had gotten the picture from Danielle. The same one was in my photo book from Dan. In the picture, Niall's arm was around the back of Leigh's chair, and Harry's arms were around Jade and El. Dan and I were right in the middle, and he had his arm around my shoulders and his lips were pressed into my temple while I was grinning at the camera. The frame was navy and had a cool gold tribal pattern on it.

"It looks like Danielle was helping both of us." He chuckled. This time Dan and I cleaned up the paper and brought his parents some tea as a thanks. Then we went back into the kitchen and made tea for ourselves.

"Honey?" Dan asked, holding out the bottle. I shook my head. "C'mon, it gives it more flavour!" He said. I shook my head again and giggled as he dumped practically half the bottle into his tea and stirred it furiously. "Try it." He insisted, holding out his mug. I gave him a look and took a sip.

"Ew! Too sweet." I said, making a face. Dan laughed and reached over, wiping a droplet of tea off my lip. I blushed and pushed a hair behind my ear shyly. Damnit, Ally, calm down! I cursed every bad word I knew in my head and wished Dan didn't think I was acting like a loser, even though I wasn't.

"You're not acting like a loser." Dan said, chuckling. I closed my eyes and looked up at the cieling.

"Dear GOD! I always say things aloud that I don't mean to, I honestly think something's wrong with me." I said. Dan laughed.

"Nah, it's really cute." He said. I blushed and we talked about how Danielle was a double agent for a while before we checked the clock and saw that it was nearly eleven. Dan and I cleared our mugs away and headed out to the stairs. We stopped at the bottom and turned to his parents.

"Thanks you so much for the gifts and for letting me stay, it means so much." I said. Dan thanked them and told them we were off to bed. We were about to head up the stairs when his dad inturrupted.

"You can't leave yet! You two are under the mistletoe. You know what that means." He said, giving Dan a look. Dan and I both looked up to make sure he wasn't kidding. There was a green leaf right above our heads.

"Welllll...." Dan said, looking at me.

"There it is...." I said. His parents chuckled at us, and Dan grabbed a candle off of the side table and threw it at them. His dad caught it and chuckled, making a guesture for us to go on. Dan bit his lip and looked me straight in the eye for a second. His face was totally unreadable. My heart felt like it might just explode out of my chest. Dan took in a breath and bent down, giving me a short, quick kiss. Then he shot his parents a look and headed up the stairs in a rush. I stood there for a second and then slowly followed him.

What the hell just happened? Why did he leave in a rush like that? I tapped on the door gently and Dan pulled it open. He was wearing his pajamas already and had a blanket and pillow in his arms.

"I'm going to sleep on the couch, actually." He said. I felt my heart catch in my throat, and instead of talking I just nodded slowly. Dan brushed past me out the door and stood motionless for a second. Why was he being like this? What did I do wrong? I sighed and felt the tears prickling the back of my eyes. I silently pulled on my pajamas and crawled into Dan's bed. I looked at my phone screen, deciding who to text, if anyone. I ignored a few texts and then just shut my phone off. Looks like I didn't have to wait until tomorrow for Dan to act like a stranger.
