Nobody Compares to You

Celia is just a normal 18 year old, she lives a normal life until her brother, Jackson, dies from cancer. She is never the same because he was her best friend. She decides that when she turns 19, she wants to move away from the little town in New Hampshire and pursue her dream as a photographer. She moves to London, England and meets five boys that almost fill the hole that was made when Jack died. Will she fall for one of the boys? Will one of them fall for her?

I woke up to the sound of a knock at the door. I looked at my phone and it was 7:00am. “Who could be knocking at this time?” I asked myself. I went to the bathroom to look in the mirror and quickly ran to get the door. Behind the flat door stood a middle aged woman, she was kind of short with blonde hair and green eyes. She held a clip board, and had glasses on the top of her head.

“Miss Adams?”

“I’m Mrs. Price; I’m your school advisor. I am here to make sure you know all the rules here.” She said in a thick British accent.

“Oh of course, please come in.” she made her way in and looked around.

“So our number one rule here is that drugs are prohibited in this building. If you are caught with any type of drug, you will be expelled immediately, is that clear?”

“Of course Ma’am, I would never.” I assured her.

“Great! Well there are only a few other minor rules. No parties after 10:00pm, no ladies in the men’s flats after 11:00.”

“No problem”

“Well that is all. I hope your experience in the London Institute of Photography is memorable. Thanks you, Miss Adams.”

“Anytime” and thanks for waking me up at seven. I wanted to say. But It’s probably not the best idea to get on her bad side.

I decided I should unpack my clothes.  I gather the boxes with clothing in them and bring them into the bedroom. It was convenient because the flat was fully furnished so I had a dresser and closet for my clothes. I finished putting my clothes away and headed to the bathroom to wash up. I turned on the shower and stepped in. The water felt so good on my bare skin. I shampooed and conditioned my long chocolate brown hair. After I was done in the shower I looked through my clothes and found an oversized blue sweater. I put on some yoga pants and blue toms. I looked for my purse and put a few things in it. I took my keys and locked the doors behind me. I walked down the streets of London and saw a Starbucks. I walked into the café and ordered a hot chocolate. I was never a fan of coffee. I paid the cashier and went to sit at a table. I heard the bell that was on the door. From habit, I look up to see a brown haired boy. He had a buzz cut. He was wearing Ray Bans and he took them off. One girl started freaking out. She kept yelling “LIAM!! HI!!” she yelled. The cashier shushed her and apologized to this “Liam” person. Then it hit me. He was Liam from One Direction. My cousin showed me a picture of him a while back. He had long curly hair them.  He seemed like he was used to having girls in his face.

He sat down at the table next to mine and his phone rang. He had the same ringtone as me “The A Team” By Ed Sheeran. He answered the phone.

“What’s up Simon?” “I know. It’s just Danielle wants to get back together. And I just want to move on.” “Because I loved her! She didn’t care that we were in love! I was fine with a long distance relationship but she couldn’t have that!” “No Simon. We are not getting back together! She ruined it!” he ended the call. He slammed his fists on the table, causing his coffee to spill. I quickly got up to help him, I brought a few napkins and helped wipe up the coffee.

“Thanks love.” He said in his perfect accent.

“no problem, are you alright?” I asked, slightly concerned.

“I’ve been better” he said. His brown eyes were filled with sadness. I felt bad for him. It seems like this “Danielle” girl really hurt him.

“If you need someone to talk to I’m a good listener.” I said to him. He nodded. I picked up my hot chocolate and we walked out on to the side walk. We walked down the street and he told me the story about him and his ex, Danielle.

“And she just said we had to break up because of the distance.”

“So much for love.” I said in a sarcastic tone.

“Yeah, I know. But at least now I can find a girl my age.” I looked into his chocolate brown eyes and saw truth in them. Something about him made me feel, I don’t know. Different.

“Thank you for listening, oh, what was your name Love?” he keeps calling me love. I kind of like it. Do I like him? I can’t.

“It’s Celia, Celia Adams”

“What a beautiful name” he said in his accent. I love British accents, I’m not sure why, but I just do.

“Thank you” I said. He gave me a hug and I hugged him back. He was nice. And he was really cute.

“So do you have any stories?” he asked me. Oh great. I guess I have to tell him about Jack.

“Well. A little over a year ago, my brother died of leukemia.”

“I’m sorry, that’s horrible.”

“Yeah, it was. He was my best friend. I never really had friends so he was my friend. I cried myself to sleep every night for 2 months after he died”

“How could you not have friends? You are so nice.” He said softly

“They all called me ugly and never let me hang out with them. My brother used to stand up to the bullies for me. If I didn’t have him, I don’t know what might’ve happened to me”

“Well you are not ugly. You’re beautiful. I can be your friend if you want.” he said to me. He looked me in the eyes and I smiled.

“Thank you. Wow, one day in London and I’ve made a friend.” I was surprised.

“It’s you’re first day? Where are you from?” he asked

“New Hampshire. In the United States.” I answered

“Oh wow, that’s far. I went there when I was on tour. I think it was Manchester” he remembered

“Yeah, it’s a really great state. It’s a lot warmer there.” I admitted

“Yeah, it’s kind of always cold here.”  He said.

“I noticed” we both chuckled. He was so cute when he laughed. He had crinkles next to his eyes and a wide smile.

“Well I have to be going. I have a little Irish friend to feed. He gets really cranky when he’s hungry” he said, sounding worried.

“It was really nice meeting you Liam.” I said truthfully

“It was great to meet you too Celia. Thank you for listening”

“I guess I’ll see you around” I said.

“Yeah. I guess.” He replied I smiled and we both walked away.
