I Will Always Love You

Ellie Crave is a seventeen year old girl. Her father ran away when her mum got pregnant and her mother died when she gave birth. She lived in an orphanage until she was fifteen. She didn’t have any friends and nobody would give her any attention because she had cancer and they thought it was worthless to take care of her as she would die before she even turned eighteen. But she was strong. She didn’t get mad at the others for not helping her. She didn’t get mad at the world for giving her this horrible disease. Instead she learned from it. When she got away from the orphanage, she went to a home that took care of sick children like her. She wouldn’t just help there, but she would be their friend. And she would give them something they never received. Or at least she didn’t allow herself to receive. Until she met a guy, who changed the rest of the life she had left forever. He gave her LOVE.

7. You Are The Only Exception

“Maybe I know, somewhere

Deep in my soul
That love never lasts
And we've got to find other ways
To make it alone
Or keep a straight face
And I've always lived like this
Keeping a comfortable, distance
And up until now
I had sworn to myself that I'm content
With loneliness
Because none of it was ever worth the risk.

You are the only exception”

Harry’s P.O.V

SHE SAID YES! She agreed to go on a date with me, I can’t believe it. I was expecting a no from her after everything that Ruth told me. But no OH MY GOD SHE SAID YES! And today is the day. I can’t wait. I am so nervous and excited. I don’t want to make it too big because she said she wasn’t used to going on dates. I’ll keep it simple. BUT OH MY GOD ME, HARRY STYLES, IS GOING ON A DATE WITH ELLIE CRAVE.

“Harry will you just stay still for a second.” Ruth said.

“I can’t, I’m too nervous” I replied.

“Look Harry I don’t know how you got her to agree on going on this date but I swear if you hurt her-”

“I won’t Ruth, you need to stop worrying” I cut her off before she would finish her sentence. I knew exactly what she would say. Something like “I will kill you” or “you won’t see her or me ever again.” But I wasn’t planning on hurting her. No, of course not. I really liked her and I wanted to know her better. And also, I wanted to know what she was hiding. I knew it was something but I would have to earn her trust if I wanted to find out, because apparently nobody seems to notice that something’s going on.

“Maybe she agreed because it isn’t exactly a date” I told her “we agreed to go out only as friends, to know each other better”

Ellie’s P.O.V

“Ruth, maybe I should cancel, maybe this isn’t a good idea” I said to Ruth at lunch time.

“No girl, you ain’t canceling anything” she said “I’m gonna help you get ready. You’re gonna be fine, I swear. Now stop worrying.”

“No, no, no…” Ruth was saying as she checked through my shirts, throwing them onto a pile on my bed. “Well, there’s nothing we can use here. I’m glad I brought some of my clothes. Don’t worry, I brought the pretty ones.” She then went to her bag and took out some shirts. I started trying them on but there wasn’t really anything for me to use. It just wasn’t my style. After half an hour of trying on shirts I gave up. “What now?” I asked. “You don’t have anything else to wear? Are you sure?” she said. “Well” I started saying but then I remembered this dress I received last year for my birthday. It was a gift from a family whose child had passed and they gave it to me thanking me for taking care of their son. I walked to my closet and opened the last drawer. I had never put on the dress before so I had no idea how it looked on me. I took it out and Ruth gasped surprised from what I had just taken out of the closet. “It’s beautiful” she said.

The dress was mid-thigh long. It was red and had flowers with blue and turquoise details. It was strapless and it had a small belt on the waist. It was absolutely gorgeous.

Ruth did my make up because I didn’t know how to. I never wear makeup but she insisted that I had to this time. I put on my toms because it was the only thing I had. And at 8 the doorbell rang. I opened the door and there stood Harry, wearing some jeans and a shirt. I was glad he wasn’t wearing anything too fancy. I smiled at him and he smiled back. “You look beautiful” he said. I immediately blushed “thanks” I said and we walked to his car. “Have fun you two” I heard Ruth shout through the window as we were about to go.

The ride in the car was silent, awkward silent. I’ve never been good at starting a conversation, and since I barely knew Harry I had no idea what he liked or what we could talk about. Apparently he wasn’t going to say anything, so I decided to break the silence.

“Where are we going?” I asked and turned to look at him.

“It’s a surprise” he said smirking but still looking at the road.

“It’s ok, you don’t have to be nervous” he turned to me this time and his smile brought a warm feeling inside me. Sadly, that feeling went away too fast and I started feeling nervous again.

Some minutes later we arrived to what seemed to be a park. It was dark except for the few lights that illuminated the street. It was a beautiful place and there were a couple of people there. There was a small fountain but it wasn’t working, and I could see what looked like a small forest in the distance.

After Harry parked the car he got down and opened the door for me. I slightly blushed at his gesture, but luckily it was too dark for him to notice. He smiled at me at took my hand. I had never held a boy’s hand before and I was starting to feel uncomfortable. Apparently Harry noticed this because he let go of my hand and apologized. “It’s ok, I guess I’m just not used to it” I said and smiled at him hoping for the tension to go away.

We started walking in the direction of the forest, and inside I was hoping we didn’t go there because the more we seemed to get closer to the forest, the less people there seemed to be. And to be honest, I was scared of being completely alone with Harry. I didn’t trust him yet and I didn’t want to have a reason to not trust him ever.

“Close your eyes” He said as we were only a few feet away from the forest.

“Why?” I asked confused and scared of not being able to see where he was taking me.

He giggled at my confusion “Just do it, please.”

I wasn’t sure what to do, I was scared yet something told me that everything was going to be alright. So I closed my eyes.

“No peeking” He said as he positioned himself behind me and covered my eyes with his hands.

He led me through what I guess was the forest. The walk must’ve been five minutes long, but it seemed a lot longer to me. I was anxious to see where he was taking me.

When we finally stopped I could feel him moving away from me. I was scared as I didn’t see and couldn’t feel him anymore. When he was behind me I felt safe and warm and now that he wasn’t behind me anymore I started getting scared again.

“Harry?” I asked but didn’t get any response. “Harry, are you there?” I asked again. I opened my eyes and I was shocked with what I saw. Harry was standing there and we were in a part of the forest where there weren’t actually any trees. They were to the sides making a circle around the grass, and if you looked up, you could see the stars and the moon exactly in the middle of the space between the branches, which lightened the place up. It was so surreal I thought it was a dream at first.

“Take a picture, it lasts longer” Harry said and I laughed. I walked towards him and he had set up a picnic. We sat down on the blanket and he took out the food from the basket.

“So, I’ve been talking to Ruth and she said that Caesar salad was your favourite food” He said as he took out a bowl with what was obviously Caesar salad. I smiled at the thought that he had made all this for me. He then handed me a fork and we started eating.

“So I figured a way to get to know each other better.” He said after a while.

“And what’s that?” I asked intrigued because I did want to know him better.

“We ask questions, I mean like random question. We have to answer with the first thing that comes to our mind.” He smiled cheekily and his cute dimples appeared on his cheek.

“Sure, sounds fun. You start”

“Ok, umm…favourite colour?”

“Blue” I replied immediately. “Age?”

“Eighteen. Favourite animal?”

“Cats, definitely.”

“Yay! I love cats” he laughed.

We continued like that until we finished the salad. It was so much fun because after a while we just started asking silly questions, some of them didn’t make any sense at all. I must admit, I was scared he would ask something about my illness but then I completely forgot about it. It had been a long time since I had so much fun.

“TIME FOR THE DESSERT!” Harry shouted pretty excited. He took out a beautiful chocolate strawberry cake. “I did it myself”

“Oh Harry, I don’t like chocolate”

“Oh. Sorry, Ruth didn’t tell me.” He looked disappointed and started putting the cake away.

“I’m kidding Harry! Who doesn’t like chocolate?” I laughed and he laughed too. We started eating the cake and it was absolutely delicious. When we finished eating we just lay down on the blanket and looked at the stars and the moon.

“Harry?” I said in a voice barely audible I wasn’t sure if I could hear myself.

“Yes love?”

“I’m cold” I said without thinking. But it was starting to get cold. He put his arm around me and I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. It gave me a warm feeling. I felt safe and protected. And happy, I felt happy.
