The Cheerleader and the Football Player

16 year old MacKenzie is the shy girl at school. She doesn't go out and party a lot or get drunk or have a million boyfriends. She is a level 10 gymnast, but she never though about going out for the cheerleading team. She ends up trying out, and befriending the other shy girl, and falling in love with her new friends twin brother. But what could happen when she gets injured and the doctors tell her she can never do gymnastics again? Will she give up? Or will she find a way to do it anyway.

*In this story Harry is famous, but he has always been the popular boy in school and nobody treats him that different for being famous and he is a football player, the star quarterback to be exact. And I know he only has an older sister, Gemma, but for the sake of the story, he has a twin sister.*

1. Tryouts

"Ms. White, please explain to the class how you got your answer to number 4? You seem to be the only one to have gotten it correct." Mr. Davis said to my entire biology class. "Well, um... A plant cell has a cell wall and a cell membrane. While the animal cell only has a cell membrane. Also the plant cell has the chloroplasts. Which is what gives it the green color. Those are the differences." I said quietly as I looked down at my paper. "See class. If I heard her correctly, you had to have both the cell wall, and the chloroplast written to receive credit for this question. Thank you Ms. White." He said as the bell rang. I quietly collected my notebook and pen and shoved it into my school bag and headed for the guidance office. I hated coming down here. I always felt like I was going to get in trouble.

"Mrs. Cole?" I said knocking on my guidance counselors door. "Ah MacKenzie. Come on in." She said in her irritating, high pitched voice. I went in and shut the door. "So MacKenzie. It's October in your sophomore year at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School. You have a 4.3 GPA. And you want to apply for early admission to the University of Cambridge. What do you have to do to make sure that you get accepted?" She asked me.

"I need to have more extra-curricular activities. " I said. "Now, it's my job as your guidance counselor to help you get those extra-curricular activities under your belt, so you get accepted Next spring. What are you doing when you aren't studying?" She asked with a smile on her face.

"I am a level 10 gymnast and I go to 2 competitions every weekend." I said embarrassed. I don't know why I was embarrassed. I always thought being a gymnast was something to be ashamed of. Like I wasn't supposed to talk about it. But I loved gymnastics and I was pretty damn good at it. "Well then this is perfect! Cheerleading tryouts are today after school. I need you to go. MacKenzie this would be perfect for you. Instead of joining 5 clubs because they only meet once a week, you join cheerleading, which is 5 times a week." She said as she grinned. I nodded and headed out the door.

This sucked. I was too quiet to be a cheerleader and I was too shy, and not pretty enough.

I am only 92 pounds and I am 16. I am really short, about 5"2'. I have abs but no one ever sees them because I don't wear bikinis or go to the beach or to the swimming pool or anything. I have limp, lifeless blonde hair and boring blue eyes. I am pretty ugly if you asked me. And I don't spend any time studying, many people thought that that was all I did. But I don't, I just remember it from class and I don't have to study, which is why I have all this time for gymnastics.

I changed into my gymnastic clothes that consisted of spandex shorts and a sports bra. This was the only time I showed my stomach and that's because they made me at gymnastics. This was like our dress code.

"Damn Kenz." Cavan said to me as I walked through the first gym and into the little space between the first and second gymnasiums. "Shut up Cavan." I said as I shoved him playfully and we walked and sat down in between the gyms. "You a cheerleader? That's a funny joke Kenz." He said as he stood up and walked away. Cavan was my best friend. Ever since he moved in next door to me in year 5, it's been that way.

I sat down and stretched. About 15 minutes later, a gorgeous, tall, thin, tan blonde senior spoke. "My name in Blake and I one of the co-captains of the varsity squad this year. I am so glad to see all of you this year! Being a pirates cheerleader is an honor and I know every single one of you knows that. Let me just remind you that if anyone is caught doing anything that would dishonor the Honor Code here at The Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, you will be kicked off the squad. Tryouts are from 3-6. These next 5 days will be torture for some of you, most of you actually. But you all understand the price you have to pay. Today we will be working on the stunting today and tomorrow we'll do tumbling and Wednesday, cheers. Thursday we will do the dance routine and Friday I need you all from 3-9 for tryouts. 3-5 is last minute practice with your group and 5-9 is the tryouts. I hope you all understand that you will try out in front of everybody and that will be no problem I hope. Grab your bags and come with me." I stood up and grabbed my bag and followed the large crowd of about 50 girls into the gym.

"Grab a partner. You and your partner will be working together during tryouts and you guys are a packaged deal. Either both of you make it, or neither. Choose wisely. Once you find a partner come find me or Melanie and we will give you a song and instructions." Blake said as she turned to Melanie and began talking. I looked around for a few minutes, before I found a girl who looked just as lost and confused as I did.

"You have a partner?" I asked hoping she said no. "Nope. Wanna team up?" She asked. "Sure. I don't really know anyone here. I'm MacKenzie." I said. "I'm Victoria." She said as we walked over to Melanie.

"First names?" She said as she looked at her clipboard. "Victoria and MacKenzie." Emily said. "Thank you. Your song is 'One Thing' by One Direction. You have that song for the stunt sequence and tumbling routine and you have to have at least 3 jumps, tumbling for 4 counts and it has to be 6 8 counts and has to repeat for the routine. I'll let you know your song for the dance routine. But we will remind you of that Thursday. Today you guys can work with Callie and Megan. They know what to do. Understand?" She said and we both nodded and walked away.

"You know out song?" I asked her. "Yea my brother sings it all the time. You?" She asked "Kinda. It gets a little boring sometimes. Like really over played. But we can do it." I said as we started to walk to a spot that wasn't filled with ditzy blondes and uncoordinated brunettes a trying to choreograph a stunt sequence.

"I'm Callie and that's Megan." A tall blonde girl said and pointed to the brunette girl next to her, who was adjusting her boobs in her sports bra. Of course she was. "We are doing a teddy bear sit to a full, cradle down then a lib to scorpion and a waterfall down from that. We need a flier and a base since I'm too tall to base and fly, I'm a back and Meg is too tall to fly, so blondie, your going up and you are basing." She said, pointing to Victoria. We both nodded. "Have either of you stunted before?" Meg asked as she stopped adjusting herself and got ready to work. "No, but I'm a level 10 gymnast so I know what to do." I said and Victoria said, "Yea I've done it on a competaitve team outside of school since year 7.". Really? I didnt think Victoria would be the type of girl to do cheerleading.

We spent the next 2 and a half hours doing our sequence. "Alright were good. We dont have to do it again today. Just get here a few minutes early tomorrow and we can try it agian so we dont forget it." Meg said as she grabbed her stuff and ran over to Melanie and Blake. "MacKenzie, do you want a ride home?" Victoria said as we walked out of the gym and she got into a black car and I assumed it was her brothers car based on the football equiptment in the backseat. "Uh, nah, I'm going to run for a little." I said as I walked towards the side of the building and put my bag down, but took out my iPhone and headphones. "I went  to a family party last weekend so I have to burn off all the crap I ate. Thanks though. Bye Victoria" I said. As I turned away and started to run on the sidewalk, towards the field.

Harrys POV

Damn. That girl was really hot. "Vic. Who is that?" I asked as I looked in my rear-view mirror. Damn even that ass was hot. "MacKenzie. Shes my partner for cheer." she replied as she took her phone out and started texting. "Why do you ask?" she said eyeing me suspiciously. "No reason." I replied, hoping I wasnt easy to read. "Oh my God Harry please. She would never. Especially not with you. Move on already." she said as she popped a headphone into one ear. "I dont know what you mean." I said playing stupid. "Harry I can read you like a book. You think shes hot and you think shes going to fall for that 'Im Harry Styles and I think Im amazing' crap that you sell to every other girl here." she said as she tried to imitate me and flipped her hair like I always do.

"I do not say that!" I protested. "You act like it and I'm not going to let it happen. Your not taking advantage of her. Now go. I have a project I have to do." Vic said as she popped the other headphone into her ear. "But she is really fit." I said out loud, thinking Vic couldnt hear me. "I can hear you dumbass." she said as she tapped on her leg to a song on her iPhone.
