Nobody Compares To You

The life of Sam Taylor is changed forever when she moves from her little town in New Hampshire to London, England. Sam moves without a job, not knowing anyone, with the whole summer before classes start. On her very first day, by weird coincidences, she meets a famous band that she has never heard of, called "One Direction". Somehow she is dragged into the middle of the fast paced world of One Direction, and cam't exactly find her way out of the beautiful disaster that has been made. She gets stuck in a few sticky situations, that will stay with her the rest of her life. What will her new life become of? How long will the band be on break? What will become of Sam Taylor?

DISCLAIMER: At the beginning of the story, Niall and Zayn cause the band to need to take a break because of arguments within the band. That is not the case! I love them both! <3

5. First Impressions

Sam’s POV

I had honestly never seen anything like him. His hair was brown and curly and fell around his baby face. He has a face that looks like he’s thirteen, but a body like man. And those eyes, they look like emeralds barreling into my soul. Something about him seemed warm and comfortable, and his voice seems almost familiar. I can’t place my finger on it though. He told me his names Harry. I try to act calm, and that I am not completely fangirling over his British accent on the inside.

“So are you freshman?” I asked him; trying to break the awkward stare fest we have been holding for who knows how long.

“Yeah, I am. This is my first year in college,” he tells me.

“What are you here for?” I am about to run out of ideas for making small talk, so hopefully this topic may last a little while.

“Uh, don’t you already know that?” he asked with a charming smile. I feel a little caught off guard with that question.

“Should I?” I asked a tad sarcastically with a raise of one eyebrow.

“Well, I mean most people in the world would be able to guess…” he said. Wow, I actually believed for a second that he was a normal guy, not conceited like I know every guy at this school would be. I started to turn and walk back towards my flat when he grabbed my arm. “I’m sorry, but do you really not know who I am?” I shook my head, feeling great amounts of disgust towards him.

“Wow, I’m really sorry. I must sound like such a jerk. I just, I guess I’ve gotten so used to people knowing everything about me, that someone not knowing my name has become a very distant thought. I think I like it though…” Maybe I shouldn’t engage with this boy. I’m starting to become almost positive that he’s mentally crazy. He must be a writer…

“No, let me introduce myself then. I am Harry Styles, and I thought you knew me because I am part of a band called One Direction, it’s become fairly popular, which is why I rudely assumed you knew my name. I am very sorry, miss.”

I took another look at him. So this boy was the cause of all my friends’ happy tears during concerts and video diaries and music videos. He just seems like a boy to me. I laughed to myself. “Yeah I’ve heard of you before. You’re the man who caused all of my friends to cry multiple times over your solos. Nice to meet you,” I stuck out my hand.

He took my hand and smiled at the ground. “I am really sorry, and I didn’t mean to make your friends cry either. I promise, I know that these past few minutes couldn’t have been the greatest impression, can I start over though?” I nodded.

Harry’s POV

She nodded. She really did. This girl was going to give me a second chance. Before I was “THE Harry Styles of One Direction” no girls looked my way, let alone girls like this one. This was my chance to make something of myself. Maybe I could start fresh at this college, and just be. Together, we continued walking down the stairs outside across the street.

“It’s great to meet you, I’ve actually heard about you from…” I started.

“OH MY GOSH IT’S HARRY STYLES!”

Oh no, please no. Not now, God please don’t let this happen now. I closed my eyes. If I can’t see them, they can’t see me. Go away, please not now.

But then they were there. They were right behind us, sprinting as fast as they could. “Listen, I really want to get to know you and I really want to talk to you, but for right now can you just trust me?” She looked afraid, and confused, so I just grabbed her hand and we started running. She was really fast, faster than I am actually. She looked scared yet excited at the same time.

“So I’m guessing these are your London Directioners?” she asked me with that beautiful smile on her face.

I laughed and smiled at the ground. “I guess you could call them that.” I thought a second. “Wait, you said Directioner. How much do you know about my band?” I flashed her a smile.

“I know enough to know that I pronounce Louis, ‘Lewis’, around any directioner that they will probably come at me with knives and pitchforks,” she told me. “Is it always like this? Constant running?” she asked.

“Yeah, usually it’s me and the guys though. I hope you don’t mind getting spotted with me in public. You’re probably going to be on the front of every teen girl magazine by tomorrow.” I stopped talking a second to take a breath, running and talking is hard. “Between the fact 1D is taking a year break, and being seen with you, there’s going to be some interesting headlines tomorrow.”

“Well, that’s reassuring. Is that why you’re going to college? Since you have the time off?” she asked me. I nodded, unable to answer; I was almost completely out of breath. How can she run like that and talk with so much energy? “Where are we going?” she asked me, not even out of breath yet. I searched my brain to think for a spot I’ve gone with the boys to hide, somewhere where we could be alone, and no one could get to us. My first thought was the college, but they would be able to get in there if they really tried. Then my brain went to the café, but people would be able to find us there way to easily. Then I knew where we were going. It was perfect.

I smirked at her, and muttered out two words as I was in my breathless state. “Follow me.” I said and started running to the north end of London. She looked concerned, but smiled and we started racing the rest of the way, girls following us screaming.
