I Know You're There

At every single school, there's always an emo that gets bullied. The one at Tori's school is different. He still gets bullied, and he never speaks, and no one ever sees him outside of school. There are rumours. Many of them. The main one, his parents have abandoned him. Tori starts suspecting that he lives in the abandoned house next to hers. As she starts getting close to him, and unveiling the horrific truth, she realised his pure beauty. If only everyone else could too...

11. 'You'd be fired anyway.'

Daniel cried out in agony, cradling himself. He was doubled over and swaying slightly. Reuben just stood there looking regretful and guilty. His eyes looked like puppy dog eyes and his bottom jaw hung down slightly. He seriously looked like he wished he hadn't done that. Normally, a girl would be over the moon a guy would fight for her, not me. I stared him down with a death glare.

"I..." he started.

I ignored him, pushed past him and put a hand on Daniel's back. He straightened and I could see blood running from his nose.

"I'm glad you quit Reuben, you'd be fired anyway," Reuben's boss said.

Reuben grunted, and left the café, pure anger radiating from him.

Go after him! Find him! Never let go! He's the one! My mind yelled at me.

No! I fought back. I was mentally arguing with myself whilst nursing my future boyfriend with a broken nose. This was stupid. I should just go after him... No.

I lead Daniel outside, taking him back to mine to sort himself out. Blood was everywhere. Over him, and grossly, over me too. He apologised numerous times, and I started thinking, maybe he wasn't that bad. Maybe it was all an act. He was just so weak.

Ollie helped me sort the bleeding out once we were at mine, and he definitely hadn't broken it. The scary thought was, Reuben could have if he wanted to. Daniel knew that now, he knew that Reuben was stronger than him in more than one way. Reuben now knew it too.

When we walked past that house next to mine, I kind of shivered. Just the broken glass... so desolate... Maybe it was haunted.

Daniel asked me out again, and for once I agreed. He smiled and went home. It was all going to quickly. Like, seriously. I went out with a guy who I actually liked. We were torn apart by the next guy I was going out with. All in four days. That's not normal. It's all too rushed. Just give me a second to breathe.

What the hell was I doing?

Maybe he wasn't that bad.

Maybe it was all an act.

He was just so weak.

Reuben was stronger than him in more than one way.

Maybe it was haunted.

Reuben now knew it too.

Maybe it was haunted.
