But when Danielle and Liam break up and Sophie goes to comfort him, he tells Sophie it was because Danielle suspected him of having feelings for HER...and that his ex girlfriend wasn't wrong. Sophie soon finds herself caught in an addictive web of lies, schemes, and cheating. She falls in love with BOTH One Direction boys, and is unable to choose one over the other. 17. Tingles

Liam's car, on the way to the Golden Eagle, January 2013, 7:16 p.m.:

As soon as Liam began the twenty minute drive to the Golden Eagle, he started up casual conversation so that it wouldn't be so awkward. He also wanted to remind Sophie that he was still her friend. Before that night at his flat, they had been pretty close. She actually considered him her closest friend within the band, excluding Louis. Zayn was a close second though.

They chatted about her childhood, and how her older sister Ashton was doing back in New York City. He talked about missing his family terribly, and how he was writing a new song that he was extrememly excited about. The topic moved over to their hobbies when they were about halfway to the restaurant.

"So I'm guessing in school you were the popular cheerleader with all the cool friends and perfect grades, right?" Liam asked her.

Sophie threw her head back and laughed, exposing her smooth neck. Liam pictured himself sucking on it tenderly as she arched her back into his body and--

"Hellllll no" Sophie replied, making Liam push aside his fantasy for later. "I wasn't popular whatsoever in school"

Liam raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Really? I don't believe that for a second."

"I'm serious! I kept to myself in school. The only activities I was involved in were choir, drama, and advanced art. I had one or two friends, but we weren't super close. I had one serious boyfriend in school, but he cheated on me with that popular cheerleader you described." Sophie said this all matter of factly, catching Liam off guard.

"Oh..." he said, "I'm sorry."

Sophie just shrugged her shoulders. She had put that past behind her two years ago.

Liam didn't want to let an awkward silence settle in the car, so he continued, "So you said you were in art? I didn't know you were an artist!"

Sophie chuckled and rolled her head towards him, briefly admiring his strong jawline. "Yeah, I'm okay. I still sketch sometimes. Actually, I sketch you boys a lot whenever I go to your rehearsals."

Liam was surprised yet again. "Really? How come I've never noticed this?"

Sophie laughed at him, a beautiful sound to his ears. "Well you're usually sort of busy at rehearsals, so I'd be surprised if you had noticed!"

He chuckled too, nodding his head in agreement.

A few seconds passed and Sophie began to piddle with her fingers a little bit. She looked down in her lap and he almost didn't hear her whisper the words, "I actually draw you a lot. More than all of the other boys, really."

Liam took a deep breath, gripping the steering wheel tightly. Did that mean something? Was she watching him like he had been watching her? Was that her way of saying she had some feelings for him too? Or was he just reading way too much into it?

"Oh yeah?" he finally managed to say in a releasing breath.

Sophie looked out the window and mumbled, "Yep".

Liam couldn't help but grin and keep his eyes on the road. She had been drawing him.

Sophie turned back to him and punched him on the arm. "Oi!" Liam shouted, looking at her incredulously. "What was that for?"

"For smiling so smugly! I'm not watching you or anything, you're just...you're good to sketch. Easier than the other boys. That's all I meant by that." She crossed her arms and pouted a little bit, and it was absolutely adorable.

Liam chuckled and looked back to the road. "Okay love, whatever you say..."

"I mean it!"

He laughed again and instinctively and without thinking, reached over to place a hand on her knee for reassurance. The moment his hand touched her though, he jerked it back. He and Sophie both gasped a little bit, their eyes widening.

There was no denying the electricity between them in just that one touch. It shot tingles up his entire arm and up his neck, while she felt a shock that ran up her leg and to the sensitive areas in her lower belly.

"I-I'm sorry" he stammered out, putting both hands back on the steering wheel and gripping it so tight that his knuckles turned white. Sophie just looked back down and mumbled, "S'okay".

A minute of silence fell over the interior of the car. He focused on the road while she stared out the window trying not to fidget with her hands, and yet there was no denying the obvious sexual tension in the confined space. He was using every ounce of willpower not to reach over and touch her again. She was like his center of gravity, pulling him to her. Likewise, she was trying to push away the thoughts of leaning over the console and kissing his neck, or running her lips over the brown stubble on his face.

Finally, they reached the Golden Eagle. He pulled up to the valet parking and quickly put the vehicle in park. He handed the keys to the valet and walked around to the passenger door to help Sophie out. He opened the door and he had to bite his lip when she stuck one of her long tan legs out in such a sexy way. She ducked her head out just a bit and made eye contact with him.

That one look from her only lasted for a second, but he could see everything behind it. She was terrified. She was scared of the way things would go at dinner, scared that she would send him the wrong message somehow, scared of the way she was feeling. He hated that look.

Liam held his hand out gently to her, making her eyes go wide. She didn't know what would happen if they touched again, if it would be like earlier in the car. He smiled reassuringly to her.

"It's okay..." He whispered this, but she heard him loud and clear. She very shakily reached out her hand and placed it in his own, making the tingles explode inside the each of them.

They each gasped like they had before in the car, but this time he didn't pull away. He actually held on tight, gently pulling her out of the vehicle. As he did so, she stepped forward and found her body just inches away from his own. He was just a little taller than her, the perfect height for him to kiss her forehead. She looked up at him slowly, her mouth parted just slightly and her hazel eyes wide, not knowing what was going to happen next. It would have been so easy for him to lean forward and kiss her soft pink lips...

But no, he couldn't do that. He had to show her that he wasn't a terrible guy, he had to gain her trust back. So he mustered up every ounce of willpower in his body, and stepped back away from her. She was surprised at first, but then exhaled in relief. Holding back had been hard for her too in just those couple of seconds.

"Erm...shall we go in then?" he asked awkwardly.

Sophie gave him a weak smile and squeaked out, "Yeah, sure" and they began to make their way into the restaurant.
