Louis Doesn't Have To Know

Sophie Ayers never intended on meeting Louis, yet she was so thankful that she did. He showed her what it was to love, and how it was to BE loved. He healed her broken heart, and did it with that gorgeous smile on his face. But when Danielle and Liam break up and Sophie goes to comfort him, he tells Sophie it was because Danielle suspected him of having feelings for HER...and that his ex girlfriend wasn't wrong. Sophie soon finds herself caught in an addictive web of lies, schemes, and cheating. She falls in love with BOTH One Direction boys, and is unable to choose one over the other. Liam has an idea though: Louis doesn't have to know...right?

13. Hotel Lobby

That same day, at a Doncaster hotel, 12:13 p.m.:

When Louis and Sophie had finally reached the hotel, the rest of the band and management was already there. They knew Louis would be late, since he had insisted on driving himself and Soph. Thinking about the two of them in a car together made Liam's heart contract painfully. He could picture them holding hands as Louis drove, or Sophie leaning over to give him a peck on the cheek...that should be him. Not Louis.

No. It should be Louis, not me. He's my mate and she's his girl! Liam thought to himself angrily. He hadn't been able to get Sophie out of his head for two weeks, since he had kissed her. He went to sleep imagining her soft lips on his own, and woke up reminiscing over how soft the skin on her stomach had felt under his touch. She was so perfect to him, and he was apparently nothing to her.

Sophie hadn't said but maybe two words to him since that night, always finding a reason to leave the room when he entered it, not texting him back or answering his calls whatsoever. It was killing him not to hear her beautiful voice. How had he been so oblivious to his own feelings before now?

When Louis and Sophie had pulled up, he and the other boys had went outside to help them with their bags. Louis had a duffel bag thrown over his shoulder as he entered the lobby, and his fingers were entertwined with Sophie's, making Liam cringe in spite of himself.

"Hello boys!" Louis shouted, and all the boys gave him a hug even though they'd seen him just a few hours before. Sophie smiled and waved to everyone, including Liam, much to his surprise.

"Liam guess what!" Louis had suddenly burst out. Liam looked at him questioningly and Louis continued without waiting for a response, "You've got a hot date with my girl tonight!"

Sophie paled and whacked Louis on the arm with the back of her arm hissing "Louis!" at him. Liam thought he was going to choke on air, and he started having a coughing fit. Harry hit him on the back a few times to help him get it out of his system. Louis nursed his now sore arm and whined like a baby, while the other boys all laughed.

Liam finally got himself composed again, and turned to Louis, squeaking out, "Come again?"

Louis let go of his arm and turned back to his friend. "You and Soph are going to go to dinner tonight at the Golden Eagle, I figure you two maybe could talk a little, maybe? You know, about..." he let his sentence trail off, not wanting to state the obvious.

Liam looked down and shuffled awkwardly. Sophie finally broke the silence and slowly and sadly said, "C'mon Liam, it'll be...fun." Only he knew how hard it had been for her to say those words.

He looked up shyly and made eye contact with Sophie. She looked terrified behind that smile, and it broke his heart. He didn't want her to be scared of him! He was going to make things right with Sophie tonight. Even if she would never love him like he loved her, he couldn't go on in life not having any contact with her at all or he would go crazy for sure.

He straightened up and looked Sophie full on in the face. "Yeah, let's do it" he said simply and confidently, never looking away from her.

Sophie stared back at him, very confused at his sudden confidence.

"Wonderful!" Louis shouted in typical Louis fashion, clapping his hands together loudly before wrapping one arm around Sophie's waist. "The reservations are at 7:30, I figure you can come get her from our room at 7:00?"

Liam nodded.

"Alright then! Now how about you lazy blokes help us carry these bags upstairs?" With that comment, the boys started teasing and laughing at each other, picking up bags and walking towards the elevators.

Liam was still stuck in one spot, staring after the couple; Louis dragging Sophie away with his arm around her waist.

That should be me. That time, he didn't even make an attempt to push the thought away.

Louis instinctively leaned over and kissed Sophie sweetly on the cheek. Tears welled up in Liam's eyes, hating that they were so good together. Right before his friends reached the elevators down the hallway, still not realizing Liam still had not moved from the spot in the lobby, Sophie looked over her shoulder and made far away eye contact with him.

It only lasted a second, but it was enough for him.
