Louis Doesn't Have To Know

He healed her broken heart, and did it with that gorgeous smile on his face. But when Danielle and Liam break up and Sophie goes to comfort him, he tells Sophie it was because Danielle suspected him of having feelings for HER...and that his ex girlfriend wasn't wrong. Sophie soon finds herself caught in an addictive web of lies, schemes, and cheating. She falls in love with BOTH One Direction boys, and is unable to choose one over the other. 30. Epiphany

2 Weeks Later...

Blank. Numb. Cold.

That's all Sophie could feel as she sat on Niall's front porch, staring out at the beautiful English landscape. Niall's home was in the countryside, and everything was so gorgeous and open. Unfortunately though, Sophie wasn't capable of appreciating its beauty whatsoever.

Sophie was sitting in a rocking chair, wrapped up in a thick comforter since the early morning was so biting cold. It was around seven or eight o'clock in the morning, and the sun was just beginning to rise. She honestly didn't care what time it was though, as time meant nothing to her anymore. Time had become her enemy once again, like it had with Liam four years ago. This time though, it was reminding her of what she had lost, not what she had to gain.

After Louis had taken off with Lilly, Sophie fell apart yet again. She was screaming to the sky, screaming at God, screaming at Harry, screaming at Liam. All of that was just a cover up though, for the anger she felt at herself. She was finally suffering the consequences of her actions, and Sophie knew that she deserved every bit of it.

The boys obviously tried to help her, but there was nothing they could do. Zayn had attempted to help her off the ground, but she had just shoved him away and began running down the road as fast as her weak legs could go. She was shouting after Louis, though his car was long gone. Zayn finally caught up to her, and he wrapped his strong arms around her waist, making her stop running like a person gone mad. She thrashed, she kicked, her fist even made contact with his face at one point, but he wasn't fazed. He just kept holding on tight, not saying a word. Eventually she stopped, as he knew she would. She cried in his shirt and pounded his chest, asking him 'why' over and over again. Zayn was just silent. There were no words to say.

Once Zayn carried Sophie back to the house, Harry and Niall had just finished loading Liam into Harry's flashy red sports car.

"I'm taking him to the hospital, one of you take Sophie to your flat. She can't stay here by herself." Harry said very matter-of-factly before jumping into the driver's seat.

Before he closed the door though, he made direct eye contact with Sophie and said very clearly, "I'll find Louis and make sure he's safe Sophie, but you stay the hell away from him for a while. Do you understand me?"

Sophie stared at him for just a moment. She was hurt at first, and couldn't believe that Harry would ever speak to her that way. But after a few seconds, she nodded her head in assent. Her going after Louis would solve nothing at that point, just make him more angry. She knew this.

With that, Harry closed the door and started up the engine. As he began to back out onto the road though, Sophie made eye contact with Liam through the front windshield, but just barely.

The former lovers stared each other down for about three seconds, but it was enough. Enough to have a silent conversation like they used to so often, so long ago. When things were less complicated.

Their eyes were telling each other,

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry, too.

Will everything work out?

I don't know. I just don't know.

And with that, Harry sped off to the hospital. Zayn was still holding Sophie up, and for that she was thankful. She was teetering on the edge. Was this all really happening? Was her fantasy life finally coming to an end?

Niall and Zayn finally agreed that it would be best if Sophie stayed at Niall's flat, as Zayn was going to Australia for a few days or maybe a week even to see his new girlfriend, some famous actress, at her red carpet premiere.

Harry had called just five hours after Niall had taken Sophie to his place to let them know that he had gotten in touch with Louis. The phone conversation had gone like this...

Ring ring.

"Harry?"

"Yeah it's me. I just got hold of Louis and he said that--"

"Hold on just a sec mate, I-- yes, Sophie it's Harry now if you'll let me t-- OW! Sophie you're gonna break my ph--"

"Harry it's Sophie, did you get in touch with Louis? Is he alright? Is Lilly still with him? Tell me he's okay Haz, please j--"

"Of course he's not okay Sophie, he just had his heart broken five hours ago, you think he's already gotten over it somehow?!"

"..."

"Oh God Sophie, don't cry, I'm sorry. But he is pissed, more upset than I've ever heard him. He's also really sad, love, this was a real shock to him. It was a real shock to all of us though."

"Where is he?"

"He drove up to his Mum's house in Doncaster, she's going to take care of Lilly for a week or two while he goes...somewhere else to cool off."

"Somewhere else? What the hell does that mean?"

"I don't know, nor did I ask. He needs some time, and don't even think about trying to track him down or something else stupid. Let him be alone for a while, away from you and all of us, too. He deserves that much, don't you think Soph?"

And with that, Harry had hung up the phone.

Sophie did what he asked though, she had made no attempts to contact Louis, even though it was slowly eating her away inside. She longed for his touch, his voice, just to see him again. Sometimes she would take her phone out and stare at pictures of them together for hours at a time. Niall started to think this was unhealthy though, so he took her phone away, much to her distaste.

She couldn't really argue with Niall though. He was, after all, putting his entire life on hold just for her.

As if on cue, Niall stepped out the front door and onto the porch just then, holding two mugs of steaming coffee. She looked up and smiled at him meekly. It had become a sort of morning ritual for them to meet on the porch and drink coffee together.

Niall handed her a cup and she gratefully accepted. As her Irish friend sat down and began sipping his own cup of coffee, she asked him the same question she asked every morning.

"Have you heard anything?"

And he responded the same way each time as well. "Nope. Not yet. But we will, don't worry." Then he would reach over and pat her knee reassuringly.

Sophie sighed like always and went back to sipping the coffee, burning her tongue. She didn't care though. At least she was feeling something.

"Did you sleep good last night?" Niall suddenly asked whilst rubbing his eyes.

"You know I didn't, Niall" Sophie muttered, not even bothering to look over at him.

Niall just nodded his head. He had heard Sophie screaming last night, just like the night before, and the night before that, and so on. She was having her nightmare like always, except this time...this time it was a memory.

The two friends were quiet for a moment, watching the sun rise together.

"Harry is starting to get worried." Niall suddenly said.

Sophie whipped her head to face him so fast that her neck popped. Niall's head was down though, staring at the steam rising from the black coffee.

"Worried about what? Why is he worried, did something happen?"

"He's not sure" Niall mumbled, still looking down. "He told me Lou has been calling his mum every day to check on Lilly and all, but yesterday...yesterday she didn't get a call."

Sophie took in a deep breath and bit down on her knuckles for a moment. Was Louis okay? Had he done something really stupid? Was he hurt?

"Niall we have to go look for him. What if he's hurt?!" she shouted, near hysterics.

Niall rolled his eyes dramatically and looked over at her. "Okay Sophie, let's go right now then" he said sarcastically before scoffing and looking away again. "Neither of us would know where to start, it'd be pointless. Louis doesn't want to be found, so there's no use trying. You know this."

Sophie huffed in anger and stood up, having set her coffee down on the table between them. She paced a few steps, not even noticing how cold it was without the thick comforter around her, which she had thrown down.

"Well we have to try, he could really be hurt!" she yelled, throwing her hands up in the air and looking at Niall.

"Sophie I'm sure he's fine, he just needs his space" Niall replied, leaning forward in his chair with mug in hand.

"Damn him, damn that boy..." Sophie muttered under her breath, still pacing.

Where would Louis go? He was distraught, obviously, and wanted to go somewhere to think. Somewhere away from the paparazzi, away from any social media, away from all of his friends. Somewhere away from the world, away from...

Suddenly Sophie stopped pacing and looked up, at nothing in particular. Niall likewise raised his head up at her, cocking his head and furrowing his brow in confusion.

"Somewhere away from the world..." she muttered under her breath, having a sudden epiphany.

"What was that?" Niall asked. She turned and looked at him, her eyes wide and her mouth slightly parted.

"I...I know where he's at" she said very bluntly.

Niall's blue eyes grew big, and before he could even form a thought, let alone a question, Sophie ran inside the house. She darted up the stairs, going two at a time, and busted into Niall's bedroom. She reached the side table and grabbed his iPhone, sliding the lock key and punching in the numbers she knew by heart, then pressed "CALL".

"Come on, come on, pick up, pick up..." she muttered, bouncing up and down on her toes in anxiety.

"Hullo?" a familar sleepy voice mumbled into the phone. Sophie exhaled in relief, ignoring the fact that her heart skipped a beat when she heard that voice.

"Oh thank God you answered," she began to rush out, her voice high in pitch. "Listen I need your help, I think that--"

"Sophie? Is that you?"

Sophie inhaled through her nose in frustration, "Yes it's me, now listen, I need your help, it's about L--"

"Are you alright? I mean I haven't seen or talked to you since--"

"WILL YOU SHUTUP AND LISTEN TO ME?" Sophie shouted into the phone loudly, and was thankfully met with silence. "Now just listen to me for a second! I know where Louis is, but I need your help okay? I feel like something is wrong, like really wrong, and I have to get to him. I mean I have to. But I can't do it alone, and you're the only person that can help. So please? Please...Liam?"

On the other end, she heard Liam exhale and she could just picture him laying on his side with his phone pressed to his ear, rubbing his face and squinting his eyes as he thought intensely.

He could hear the desperation in her voice, and he wanted desperately to say no, that he wouldn't do anything to help find Louis, and that he didn't want to ever see the rat bastard again. He had abandoned Sophie, he hadn't even given her a chance to explain.

He couldn't do that though. Sophie loved the guy, and Liam hated to admit it, but he did too. They were best friends after all, not just bandmates. There were no excuses for Louis' irrational actions, but...they were understandable. And he couldn't stand to know that Sophie was hurting so badly.

A few seconds passed and all Sophie could do was hold her breath. Then finally...

"When and where?"
