8. "Time flies when you're having fun"

*Please read the very important Author's Note at the end of the chapter!:)*

I was cradled tightly in Colton's arms. He was stroking and kissing my cheek, trying to rid of the red hand print left there. We had been left in here for another few hours, at least that was what it'd felt like, and tears still slowly fell from my eyes.

I couldn't help but feel so pathetic. I could take a hit. I needed to be stronger, I needed to feel stronger.

Colton looked down at me with sympathy in his eyes but he didn't say a word. I knew he pitied me and I couldn't take it from him anymore. I pulled away from his embrace and got myself in one of the sleeping bags, with my back to him.

"Krissy?" there was hurt in his voice.

I didn't answer him. Instead, I wiped my tears away and pulled myself together. I tried to sleep but I wasn't the slightest tired and simply closing my eyes was of no use.

"Baby Girl, please don't do this. Don't shut me out."

Colton waited for my response but I still didn't answer. I heard him sigh and adjust himself into the other sleeping bag beside me.

"I guess we were wrong about that other guy, huh?"

I knew he was referring to Kyle. And I had earlier explained to him who Ben was.

"Why did you tell him that I left you?" his voice was on the edge of desperation.

I gave him no reply. I knew he was going to bring this up eventually but this was exactly the conversation I wanted to avoid.

"Krissy," he said warningly.

I signed. "I don't know, Colton, maybe because I felt abandoned at the time."

I knew I wasn't being fair with him. We were all each other had and I was not making it easy on him.

I heard him groan. "Is that what you think?" he was hurt, "That I abandoned you?"

"Of course not! I know none of it was your fault. But everyone did leave me at one point. Dad, Rhi, Brent, Alison, you."

I didn't mean for it to sound as harsh as it did.

"But I came back."

"And that was all I ever wanted," I said honestly.

"Then don't push me away. I just got you back."

"I just...I don't need your pity right now."

"Pity?"

"Yes. You're looking at me like I'm too weak and fragile. I've learned how to take care of myself for the past few months, Colton."

"I know, Baby Girl. You've gone through so much and you're still up for a fight. That's strength."

I didn't say anything. I didn't know what to say. Instead, I got up and moved over to where Colton lay and slipped into his sleeping bag. He helped me in and wrapped his arms around me. Warmth spread instantly through my veins.

"I'm stronger with you," I said honestly and lifted my head to kiss him on the cheek.

"Then we have to be able to work together. No more fighting or pushing away. Allies?"

I looked up intently into his eyes. "Always, Lover Boy."

Then I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep.

I laid awake, against Colton, staring into the dark. I could not fall asleep. I turned over onto my side to face Colton. I traced my finger through his cropped hair and down his cheek. He looked so peaceful when he was sleeping. This reminded me of the time I had taken photos of Colton when we'd slept in his room. I had saved it as the background on my phone and it still remained.

Then it occurred to me. My phone. Shit! I'd forgotten it Kyle's car!

But could the kidnappers really be that stupid as to forget to check for Colton's?

I reached down in the sleeping bag to check for Colton's phone. The front pockets were empty so I checked for the back. Nothing. I sighed.

"Looking for something?" Colton's voice was filled with amusement. His eyes were still closed but a smirk was plastered on his face.

I gasped, I thought he was asleep!

"A c-cellphone," I stuttered, still startled.

"I'm sure that was it," he said with sarcasm.

"I thought you were asleep," I changed the subject.

Without warning, Colton snaked his arm around me, pulling me against him. The grin on his face spread wider and he raised his eyebrows. "I can't sleep with you in my bed." He leaned down and softly brushed his lips against mine. I kissed him back deeply. I felt his hand trail down my back and grip my ass.

I pulled away in shock. "And what are you looking for?" I asked.

"A cellphone." He chuckled.

"Well I'm not tired anymore. Can we play a game?"

"Sure, what did you have in mind?"

"Put your hands out," I instructed.

He did as I asked and I placed my hands under his. Then in one swift motion I flipped them over and slapped the top of his hands.

"Now I'm going to do that again, although you have to try and pull your hands away first."

"This is too easy."

I placed my hands under his again and swiftly smacked his hands. I smirked in victory.

"Easy, huh?" I giggled.

He rolled his eyes. "Go again."

We played four more rounds and he never managed to pull his hands away fast enough, leaving me the victor.

"Wow, you really suck at this game."

"Ow, Baby Girl, your words hurt," he said, dramatically holding a hand over his heart.

"Let's switch," I suggested and placed my hands on top of his.

He flipped his hands over in one quick motion but I instantly pulled away just in time. He was starting to look really frustrated but I found it cute. Finally something that the man couldn't handle.

"Last round," he promised, and I placed my hands back onto his.

This time when he switched his hands over, he grabbed my wrists when I tried to pull away.

"I win!" he cheered like a child.

"Foul! Cheater!" I called him out.

"What did you call me?" he asked, warningly.

"Cheater!" I repeated over and over.

"That's it," he said playfully.

He kept a hold of my wrists and pinned them above my head with one hand. Then with the other he attempted to tickle my stomach. I just stared up at him with no emotion and shrugged. "I'm not ticklish."

"Everyone's ticklish, you just have to find the right...spot!" his fingers traced around my neck and I burst out into laughter.

"Stop!" I begged, but he continued to tickle me.

I was now laughing so hard that my stomach started to hurt. I'm going to have a six pack from laughing with this boy.

"Say that I won the game and that I'm not a cheater. Oh, and say 'Colton's the best at everything.' Then we'll discuss it."

"Never!" I said through my laughs.

We were interrupted by a crash coming from down the hall. I'd been having such a great time with Colton that I'd almost forgotten where I was.

Time really does fly while you're having fun.

Colton had stopped tickling me and instead, wrapped his arms around me in a warm embrace. Something was happening just down the hall and it didn't sound too good. Someone was angry.

A/N: Hey there! I hope you liked the chapter! I'm really trying to be fast with my updates, am I succeeding? Short chapter but I wanted to bring back more romance between Krissy and Colton and I thought this would be a cute, shot way to do it.
