If at first you don't sucseed, try, try again.

Christmas was nearing and everyone was talking about the annual Christmas dance tonight. This would have been my first, that is if I could have gone.

See you can only attend these 'special occasions' if you've shown good behavior and kept your grades up throughout the school year. Now you can see why I'm not going.

Don't get me wrong either, it would be really easy to crash it, Macy and I would find a way, but I'd rather spend my evening somewhere else.

"Miss. Evans," my math teacher, Ms. Bell, snapped me back to reality.

I raised my head off the desk, showing little interest in what she had to say.

Instead of speaking to me she used her wooden pointer, I swear every teacher in this school had one, and slammed it on my desk in front of me, just missing my head. She used this technique to wake any of her students when they didn't give a sh*t about her class. And that described me perfectly.

"Wake up, Miss. Evans," she said in a very strict tone.

I just rested my head on my hand and gave a little yawn. She glared at me expectantly, and I swear if looks could kill I'd been dead a long time ago. I tried not to look her in the eye because I think even everyone in this class was scarred they'd turn into stone if they did.

"Pardon my french, Ms. Bell, but as Ferris Bueller would say, your so up tight that if I shoved coal up your ass, within twenty four hours we'd have a diamond," I said in a mocking voice of Ferris Bueller.

The class snickered and I could tell most of them were scared to laugh. But I wasn't done yet.

"Now if you don't mind, I'd like to get back to my dream now. You woke me up in the middle of a really good one and that really ruined my day."

And that is how I ended up in the dean's office.

I had been here over a zillion times within the last few months and I can safely say nothing has changed.

"What have you done this time, Miss. Evans?" she asked.

I then began to explain my little story to the dean, ending in, "but in my defense, she woke me up from a dream I hadn't had in ages."

I could tell she was not amused, but instead of telling me right from wrong, like she had normally done in the past, she pulled out an odd brochure from her desk.

"Take a look at this," she said, handing me the brochure.

I took it reading the title 'Basic Training Facility'.

"Boot camp?" I snorted.

I flipped through the paper skimming at the pictures of teenagers about my age, rolling in the mud, climbing ropes and jumping obstices; all things I was not okay with.

"Mhmm, sounds tempting but I think I'll pass," I said sliding it back to her.

"I don't think you understand Miss. Evans. See this is your next step. If you so much as step a toe out of place in my school again, this is where your going," she said in a threatening tone.

But I wasn't scared. She couldn't do that she had no authority.

"I'd like to see you try," I snorted again.

Then she slammed a pink piece of paper in front of me.

"This is your farther's signature, is it not?"

She pointed to a signature in pen at the bottom of the slip. It was signed T.Evans. My sperms donner's signature. I starred at it in defeat.

"He's allowed physical punishment towards you within the camp if necessary," she sneered.

"He what!?" I cried.

He was going to allow those people to hurt me!? To hit me if I was disobedient.

It was times like these that I desperately wanted Colton to wake up.

"Are we clear, Miss. Evans?"

I had to show no fear. She still didn't scare me.

"Crystal," I sneered with confidence but on the inside I was shaking.

I couldn't get out there fast enough.

§

I didn't want to return to class, who would? So I ditched and found my dorm room. The dean might have warned me about misbehaving but she couldn't care less if I missed class. And for the teachers, not having me in class was a vacation.

When I entered the room I tripped over a pile of clothes. Oh god here we go.

"Krissy? Is that you?" Macy's voice called across the room.

"Yeah, would you like to reveal yourself before I get lost in this room?" I called back.

At that, a bundle of blond hair came out from Macy's closet.

"Looks like someone finally came out of the closet," I laughed.

"Haha," she rolled her eyes.

"Let me guess, Christmas dance preparations?"

"How'd you know?"

"Gee, I don't know. Maybe it was the giant pile of clothes I tripped over. Or maybe the pile of new makeup on your bed. Or the-"

"Okay, okay I get it."

"You've had all day and you're still looking for something to wear?" I asked, surprised.

"Don't be ridiculous! I spent the morning picking out my outfit. I've spent the last few hours picking out yours," she shrugged,

"Well you can stop because I'm not going."

"Ha! You wish! Now which do you like better?" she snorted and held up two diffrent dresses.

One was red with a black bow around the waist line and the other, purple with a rhimstone pattern along the hem. I personally prefered the red. It was more Chirstmasy and I realy just couldn't stand sparkles.

Not the point!

I meantally hit myself back into reality. Wow, I've been spending way too much time in my head. But I guess even that was better than this hell hole.

"Sorry Macy but I'm really not up to it, besides i have somewhere I have to be," I inistsed.

"Bull! It's Christmas, Krissy! You deserve at least one night to yourself. You owe it to yourself anyways. Just this one time to help you forget about everything else."

I suppose she was right. I mean one night wouldn't kill me would it? I just had to make sure I wasn't caught or else the dean would have every reason to ship me off. And physical activitly 24/7 really wouldn't do it for me.

I sighed in defetat. "What's the plan?"

Macy squealed and jumped up and down clapping. I rolled my eyes and laughed at her.

We only had hours left before the party. I had to get in undetected which wouldn't be the hard part. You see, for the girls or girl, me being the only one, a teacher had to check up on me every couple hours to make sure I hadn't run off.

"Oh, Amber!" Macy called and slammed on the wall to the room next door. Shortly, Amber, one of the girls in the nextdoor dorm, appeared in our doorway.

"Ta-da!" Macy made jazz hands as if she'd solved the answer.

I looked at her expectantly and gave a face that said what?

"Don't you see? Amber is your replacement," Macy explained, "She'll hang out in here for the night and when a teacher comes in, she'll hide her face and pretend to be you."

It was risky but really, what had I got to loose?

"And you're going along with this?" I faced Amber.

"Like I have a choice," she huffed.

I furrowed my eye brows at looked at Macy. She just waved it off, meaning she'd explain later.

Then the red dress I had liked was thrown at me.

"Get ready girlie!"

§

The dance was extremly easy to get into. Since I was the only girl not invited and they thought I was in my room, idiots, they didn't check any faces for entry.

The room was jam packed. Not only had almost all the girls in the school shown up, but the boys down the street as well.

Macy had given me a cute Santa hat to go with my dress, which turned out to be a lot shorter than I'd pictured. Macy was wearing a very short brown dress that had resembled a raindeer and wore antliers and fish nets with it.

She had also told me on the way down here that she'd found pictures in Amber's room. And she threatened to send them to her boyfriend. Macy had blackmailed her.

"Now, where's Ben?" Macy asked, although it sounded like she was talking to herself. She then made it her own personal mission to find him and I had nothing better to do than to follow.

We went around the entire room three times and still no sign of him. Then I spotted someone else. Kyle. Or should I say Jerk-off. His eyes locked on mine and a wicked grin spread across his face before he stared to make his way over.

"There's Kyle!" Macy exclaimed, "Maybe he knows where Ben is! Hey! Kyle, over here!"

I groaned internally. Why did I agree to this?

"Hi," Macy greeted him when he'd reached us, "do you know where Ben is?"

"Uh, yeah he stayed back. Said he wasn't feeling well," Jerk-off explained.

Macy made a pouting noise and I swear I saw her bottom lip quiver.

"Why do these things always happen to me?" she whined before stalking off.

"Dramatic, much?" Jerk-off chuckled, refering to Macy.

"You have no idea," I rolled my eyes.

"Want to dance?" he offered.

"No thanks, I'm good here," I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

"Why? Scared?" he said with a mock of horror.

"Please," I said disprovingly, "How many times have I told you, Jerk-off, I have a boyfriend."

"For the last time, it's Kyle, and he's not here right now, I am. Plus were you really going to come to a Chirstmas dance to stand around watching other people like Macy throw themselves at people?" he pointed across the room at a dancing, flirting Macy.

She moved on fast. Can't say Ben will be too happy about that.

"No, I guess not," I said with a sigh of defeat.

A slower song then started playing and Jer-Kyle took my arms and wrapped them around his neck and moved his hands to my waist. We moved slowly side to side with the music and I can admit that I didn't mind this. I didn't mind this at all.

The song ended too soon and I was upset when Kyle let go of me. He smiled knowingly.

"I think I'll go get us something to drink. Don't go anywhere," he said, pointng a finger at me warningly.

I watched him disappear into the crowd until he was out of sight.

I felt someone tap me on the shoulder and I jumped around in suprise. Macy was grinning at me like an idiot.

"I saw you two dancing," she smiled.

"And...?" I trailed off.

"You sooo like him," she cooed.

"I do not," I protested.

"Do too! You're in looovvee with him," she slurred.

"Macy, you know I have Colton, I don't have feelings for Kyle."

"Uh-huh, suuree," she winked, "Krissy and Kyle, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G-"

"What are you nine? What have you been drinking?" I demanded.

"Nothing. Nothing at all," she giggled.

"Mhm, smells like it," I said with sarcasm. I could smell it on her breath.

"Where did he go?" she asked.

"To get drinks."

She stood up on her tippy-toes to look at the drinks table over the crowd of people.

"I don't see him," she sing-songed.

I looked acorss the room for myself but she was right. There was no Kyle in sight.

"He might have ditched," I shrugged, looking like I didn't care, although I didn't know how I felt.

"Oh, well, now we're both dateless," she laughed, puling me out onto the dance floor as we dances in the cener of the floor to a complete remix of Jingle Bells.

§

It was really late, I'm not sure how late I didn't have the time, and the party was now dying down. More than half the people had left and Macy and I had decieded to finally turn in as well.

Kyle had ditched becuase I hadn't seen him for the rest of the night.

Macy and I unlocked the dorm room because Amber wasn't answering for some reason. Macy practically crawled across the room floor and flopped onto her bed, passing out almost instantly.

I walked to the bathroom and changed out of my dress into my fuzzy pjs. I then began to brush my teeth but was inturrupted by a knocking on the door. I rushed over to answer it. It was Ms. Bell.

"The dance is over this was just your last check in of the night," she explained then left quickly.

Then it hit me.

Where was Amber?
