4. "Good things come to all those who wait in life"

First, I want to thank those of you who have voted for me in The Movellys! It`s greatly appreciated and I love you all! If you haven`t, you have until the 7th, when the contest closes. Please, help me. That`s enough of me, read away my lovlies!

"Krissy, I love you," he said, as he took me hand lovingly in his. I gripped onto him. I wasn't going to let him go, not this time, not again.

"I love you too, Colton," I said honestly. I looked into his eyes. Those eyes. I'd missed those eyes.

Before he could say another word someone was behind him. Dwayne. He held a knife to Colton's throat. I screamed to let him go, but all he did was laugh. Colton looked at me with concern but he didn't show fear.

"Krissy! Do something! Help me! Why won't you do anything!?" he screamed at me.

I was overwhelmed by his begging and my head spinning. I tried to help him, I tried to do something but my feet had been glued to the ground. I couldn't move. I cupped my hands over my ears, blocking his voice, ringing through the area. Then another face appeared. It was Amber. She joined in with Colton, Then finally, the last face, my mother. The three of them, all yelling my name and begging for my help to save them.

I tried so hard to block them out. I couldn't. It was all my fault that they were either dead, injured or missing.

Then a gloved hand went around my mouth, just as I was about to scream out. I thrashed in their arms, with no success. Then everything went black.

I bolted up right from my dream. I woke with a pounding headache. I clutched my head in agony as I willed myself to sit up. Thank god the curtains had been drawn, or the sun would have blinded me. I was like a vampire in the morning but I don't think I was the only one.

When I sat up I'd realized I was on the floor. No wonder I was so damn uncomfortable. I looked up at my bed to see Macy was still passed out on it. That bitch had stolen my bed!

My mind replayed the nightmare that had woken me. I rubbed my eyes to find that I had been crying. I crawled over to the mirror on the opposite wall. I had mascara dripping down my face. I sniffled and wiped it all away best I could.

God, I hated dreams. They always had a meaning to what was going on in our lives, warning us. This one made an impact. It was my fault. My mother's death, Colton's coma and now, Amber's disappearance. All my fault.

I heard a whine coming from my bed. Macy was awake.

"Krissy?" she called.

"What?" I snapped.

"Get me a Tylenol!"

"Make me."

I was then rudely smacked in the face with a pillow. When I still refused to get my ass up, I was hit again but this time with a book. I winced and help my face.

"Bitch!"

That was going to leave a black eye. Macy just laughed uncontrollably.

"Where did you get a book from? We don't read!" I demanded.

"Found it under your pillow," she shrugged.

My eyes went wide and I grabbed my diary, trying to hide it with my body. Guess it's true, she wouldn't even touch a book without using it to throw at someone's head. I was lucky too, I didn't want her reading my stuff.

I was about to get up when someone knocked on the door.

"Open up, police!" they demanded.

My head snapped to face Macy's. 'What did you do?' I mouthed.

'Nothing!' she shook her head.

I gave her a questioning look before realization spread across her face along with panic. She crawled over to me to whisper in my ear.

"I may have stole a couple of bottles off Amber yesterday. Their doing a check and we may not pass," she winced.

I glared at her.

"Open up!"

I sighed and trudged to the door. On the other side stood two police officers. One man and one woman.

I sighed and stepped aside as if to let them pass. "Make it quick," I said.

They looked at me blankly but didn't move.

"Aren't you here for a room check? Because I swear we have nothing to hide," I said as coolly as I could.

I was apparently still a bad liar.

"No..." the female officer trailed off, sounding unsure.

"This is about Amber Jensen-"

"I didn't take anything!" Macy yelled.

I turned around to face her, trying to shut her up with my eyes. I felt as if it was my responsibility to save her ass.

The two officers looked at each other confused. I hope they didn't ask for a look now.

"We just need to ask you two some questions. It won't take long, that's all we ask," the male officer said.

"Sure whatever," I shrugged and called Macy over. I was not inviting them in.

"Are you girls aware of Miss. Jensen's disappearance?" he asked.

"No," I lied.

"Amber's missing?" Macy asked with little concern in her voice.

"Yes, she didn't return from the dance last night," said the officer.

"We're asking because you have a dorm beside her's and I was told that you were here all last night," the other officer pointed at me.

I nodded.

"Did you hear anything different last night? We believe she might have left the dance early," they asked.

Again, I lied and shook my head. Okay, so I wasn't exactly lying because I didn't hear anything last night, but I wasn't exactly telling the truth either. I wanted to help Amber but I couldn't give myself away. It was selfish but hey, that's who I was.

"Have you genius' ever considered that the teenage girl might have ran away from this crazy place? I mean last night wouldn't exactly have been hard to get away undetected. The teachers wouldn't have been around. Maybe you should check the boys school, ever thought of that?" And with that I slammed the door shut.

I leaned my back against the door and slid down slowly until I sat against it. Macy trudged over to me and looked down on me.

"Okay you and I both know Amber just didn't run away."

"You don't know that, she could could have," I defended. Although I didn't even believe myself.

This time she gave me the death glare.

"Can we be realistic please?" she whined, "Who would have taken her?"

"I didn't know Amber had any enemies, aside from you," I said accusingly.

Her eyes went wide and she crossed her arms over her chest. "Are you saying I had something to do with this!?" she outraged.

"Well you do like to pull pranks like these and you kinda had it in for Amber," I pointed out.

"Excuse me!? I was with you the whole night and your accusing me!?" she yelled.

I clutched my head and groaned.

"Not so loud. I'm sorry you're right."

It couldn't have been Macy she was with me the entire night because we were both dateless.

"Maybe we should just go over to the guy's dorm and talk to them. Maybe they know something," she suggested.

"Wouldn't that be awkward?" I asked.

"Why?"

"Because I was ditched last night," I said in barely as whisper.

"Right! Kyle left you for the night. Maybe he did it!" she laughed.

"Sure, that's it. Case closed," I said with sarcasm as I rolled my eyes.

She just shrugged and skipped over to her closet, pulling out a hoodie and sweat pants.

"If we're going over, we should go before classes," she said, throwing clothes at me.

I had accused Macy and she had accused Kyle. Which was ridiculous. Kyle may be a player and he may be a jerk-off but he was not a kidnapper. I knew that much.

§

By the time we'd walked down the street and came to the school, Macy was practically dragging me inside. Not only did she have to drag me behind her but she had to do it undetected. Which with me thrashing in her hold, was not an easy task.

Thankfully there was no one around to hide from.

"How are we suppose to know which room is theirs?" I asked, staring down the long hallway.

"Easy. Follow the scent of sex, beer and smoke," she shrugged.

I snorted and nodded in agreement.

We decided eventually to ask someone by knocking on a door.

"Hello?" I called as I banged on the door.

No one answered. Now I was getting frustrated.

"Damsel in distress here! Open up!" I hollered and Macy joined in with me.

I pressed my ear to the door and listened. I could hear movement inside and muffled talking.

"Someone's in there," I confirmed, "but I think they have a pretty good reason for not getting up."

Macy raised her eyebrow quizzing and I nodded in confirmation.

I turned to try a new door and jumped. Someone stood right behind me.

"Sorry, did I scare you?" they chuckled.

"Ben!" Macy cried, running to him and throwing her arms around her.

I groaned internally. Why did I agree to this? Oh wait, I didn't I was dragged into it. Literally.

"Yes, it's all very touching, may we move on please?" I begged.

"What are you doing here?" Ben asked.

"Hunting for elephants," I said with sarcasm.

Ben snorted and Macy continued to glare at me.

"Whatever, just get in our dorm before someone sees you," Ben pointed to an open door just down the hall.

He guided us down the hall and closed the door behind him. As soon as I stepped in the smell sex, beer and smoke hit me immediately. Macy had nailed it right on. I'm guessing they don't have room checks here.

Looking around, the room was a disaster. Clothes were scattered across the floor along with stains I didn't want to think about. The blinds were drawn, giving the room a musty feel. It was a pig sty. I know, I know, I shouldn't be talking.

"I'm guessing you're not just here to see my gorgeous body," Ben directed towards a very clingy Macy.

"As appealing as that sounds, we're here to ask about someone," I said.

"What do you mean?"

"Amber Jensen. The girl with the room next to our is missing. Do you know if she's here by any chance?" Macy piped up.

"No," he confirmed.

"You seem pretty sure of yourself there," I pointed out.

"I am. Trust me I would know if someone from your school was here."

"I see. Well then, I think we'll just be off then. Thanks for nothing," I ranted, grabbing a whining Macy and heading for the door.

Then I bumped into someone else and jumped even higher in the air. It was Kyle. He gripped my arm so I wouldn't fall flat on my face. He started laughing.

"Jeez! Does everyone enjoy scaring the shit out of me!?"

Then all three of them roared out in laughter. If my life was a cartoon, I would have smoke escaping from my ears right now. I crossed my arms over my chest and gave them all death glares as I let them laugh it out.

Then we heard a knock on the door. Kyle turned around and looked out the peep hole.

"Campus security," he winced.

He motioned for us to move behind the door to hide.

"Ben, let them in, then we'll sneak around and I'll help the girls out. Tell them I've gone down to the gym for a run," he whispered.

We all nodded and the three of us hid behind the door as Ben let them in.

"How can I help you?" he said, acting all charming. He was a complete act.

Quietly, Macy and I slipped around the door with Kyle right behind us. The three of us were like ninjas, I swear!

We made it halfway down the hallway before they heard us and called out for us to stop.

Instead, Macy ran a head and without warning, Kyle lifted me up and ran with me. While being chased Kyle picked the best routes to try and lose them behind us.

"Run!" Macy screamed.

By the time I could feel the sunlight in my face I knew we were outside and I was both relieved and upset that I didn't bring a pair of sunglasses.

"We lost them," Kyle said.

"Thank you Captain Obvious," I sneered, "You know I don't like being lifted!"

"You snooze you loose," he shrugged.

"What are you five?"

"I know you are but what am I?"

I rolled my eyes and hit him roughly on the back.

"You can let me down now," I growled.

"No thanks, I like the view," he chuckled, slapping my ass.

I squealed and squirmed in his hold.

He refused to put me down and walked us (well carried me) down the street. Then he wouldn't let me go until we were back at our dorm.

Finally, at room 13, he put me down and without a word, he left.

"It was nice to see you too!" I called after him sarcastically.

I turned back around and Macy was again grinning at me like an idiot.

"What?" I demanded.

"You like him," she cooed.

I sighed. "We've been over this-"

"I know, I know, I just don't believe you." And with that she walked away.

I dusted myself off from being handled when I noticed a few strands of hair. This would have been normal except my hair wasn't red. And Macy's hair wasn't red. And neither was Kyle's or Ben's. But Amber's hair was red. What was her hair doing on my clothes?
