27. Jonas Burton

I place my hands on my hips, looking Zayn up and down. Maybe too much black? But you can’t really make them look bad. You could put them in frieken crayons and they would rock the crayon suit. And that just made no sense.

“Ok, you’re good, send in the next one!” I finally announce, turning my back to Zayn.

I grab the next lad’s clothes, straightening them out. The door closes, announcing Zayn’s exit, and I walk over to the mini fridge in the room, grabbing myself a Sprite. The door opens again and I turn around.

“Okay, well Liam, you said you wanted a simple look?” I look at him, making sure I’m right. He nods his head slowly. “Okay, well try this on.”

But he didn’t move.

He just stood there, staring directly at me.

I flick my eyes away, shoving the clothes at him, “We don’t have all day, Liam.”

He tightly grasps the clothing, and I turn away, giving him some privacy as he changed. I fought to keep my emotions in tack but the task was hard. And as soon as he coughed, telling me he was done, I turned back around.

The grey plaid-shirt, with the black pants, and a simple white watch is a great look on him. I am a total genius. Ha, why did I ever leave?

“Well, you look amazing but no surprise there, so I guess we’re done here.” I clap my hands together; greatly proud with tonight’s look for the boys.

But, he didn’t leave.

He just stood there, staring directly at me.

I sigh, “Can I help you with anything else, Liam?”

“Why’d you come back?”

The question catches me off guard, and as I am making my way over to the trashcan, I stumble into the couch. I cough and look over my shoulder at him, rubbing my sore kneecap.

He squints at me, “You ran away, so why did you come back?”

“I didn’t come back,” I correct him. “I am in contract with Management, so I had no choice but to return, the help was in great need. At least I was told that.”

He snorts, “You still had a choice. You didn’t have to come back.”

I narrow my eyes at him, “It doesn’t matter that I’m back, you just don’t want me here, isn’t that it?”

“Yeah,” He says calmly. “I don’t want you here, because for at least a month or so, you lied straight to my face.”

I throw my hands up in exasperation. “I didn’t have and I still don’t have feelings for you, I’m freaking dating Jonas Burton!”

Oh hell, that wasn’t supposed to come out. And especially, not like that.

Liam freezes, “Mrs. Burton’s son?”

I look down at the floor, tapping my foot, “Yah, him.”

I look up at him, “Why does it matter to you?”

“When, Kyra?”

I let out hard sigh, “When I left, I went home; he was waiting for me there. He carried me inside, he was there for me…he didn’t judge me, and I just…I needed someone…”

“And he was there.” Liam finishes for me, eyes hard and cold.

“Yeah, but why do you care?” I ask again.

Liam narrows his eyes, “You lied to me for a month, telling me you had no feelings whatsoever, but that wasn’t true. Then, when you decided to announce your feelings, you run away. Then you get home, and start dating the first person that’s there for you! That’s why it bothers me.”

My eyes start to blur up and I force the words out, “Liam, just leave. This has gone too far, just go.”

And with no words, he’s gone. The door slams violently and I fall to my knees, sobbing. My breathing becomes hitched and the only thing remaining, letting me know he had been here, is the white watch.

The white watch that Jonas gave me.

Right before he ended up in a coma.
