3. Canoeing

Apparently we were going canoeing. I refused to get in that thing. "Are you scared" "this isn't third grade" I reminded him. "So where's the line" "what line" I honestly had no idea what he was talking about. "You wont get on a boat without proper notice even if it's part of your job, I'm just wondering where the line stops." "That's the thing this is not part of my job" "sure it is". " No it's for your own sadistic enoyment" I replied feeling my face heat up. "Your right should I call Paul and see what his opinion is on this task." The look he gave me was pure innocence. The one I bathed him was something along the lines of loath. I toyed with using my heels as a weapon. "Fine" I heaved a sigh and stalked passed him "lets get this over with." "Daddy's little girl" he triumphantly pocketed his phone. "Excuse me" I stopped dead in my tracks and turned to face him. "What makes you think Paul is my dad?" I moved towards him "please tell me you haven't told anyone". He seemed taken aback by my distress "sorry; the mannerisms , the eyes... I just assumed it was knowledge everyone pretended they didn't have." I sank onto a nearby bench leaning forward and gulping air. Harry stood in front of me unsure how to proceed. He finally decided on sitting next to me and rubbing my back. The thought of leaving my new how was even more revolting than being discovered. I took a deep breath and whispered that Paul didn't know "At least I don't think he does." "Oh how did you...." "So are we gonna do this" I blurted out "I cant believe you are making me do this" I muttered when we got to the canoe. When we were out in the water it was actually peaceful but I was soon startled by the click of a camera. I wish he wouldn't do that "As pretty as you are when you pout, it's ruining my shot." "Im not pouting" I protested, my mind vaguely registering how his accent could make an insult sound seductive "okay maybe I am a little bit but you shouldn't ruin the moment by taking pictures of me." "It will be kinda hard doing a photo shoot of you if i can't take pictures of you besides you had a youthful look on your face. "Youthful? ha" I practically snorted. "Yes youthful why how old are you?" "Im 32" I shuddered a little when I said it. "How have you managed to stay out of the home this long" he tried to be serious couldn't help laughing. "Shut up" I snarled "wait how old are you" "25" he stretched his legs out, not a care in the world. "I didn't realize I'm sorry..." I stammered"your so young" "Well your not exactly ancient he reminded me. "We are from two different generations." "So grandma" he began  slowly waiting to see if i'd too the bait"why haven't you told Paul". "I suspected it when I came here I didn't know for sure till I met him but maybe he didn't want me so my mom left." "I dont know grandma;your pretty cute for a grandma that is" "Thats it" I pulled my oar in and lunged for him. "Taylor the boat" he warned. A split second later I felt the rejolting cold of the bay. When we got back in the canoe I realized I lost a $200 dollar shoe. "Should we go back so we can get dry clothes?' he suggested. "Probably you look pretty bad" I surprised myself with a giggle. "Your pretty bedraggle yourself" he chuckled. Our eyes met for a moment the we both laughed until we to the pier.
