Changing the Past

I want to go back and change the past. What I said to Harry Styles in School was all a lie...
My name is Grace Shuatsi and I am 18 years of age. If I told people that I went to School with Harry Styles nobody would believe me. That I was not only friends with him, oh no, I was best friends. The closest friend anyone could have. But something went wrong on the night of the prom... Something which made Harry forget...

3. Changing the Past; Chapter 3; Measuring

"So you like the black and the pink together. Or the blue and silver together," Sarah says, twirling the tape measurer around her finger.
"I also like the silver with the black," I point out. She nods and places the measurer down on the table. We are inside her huge, room-sized wardrobe full of dresses of all kinds but none of them fit my shape. I'm not a pear, an orange or a stick. I'm just me, who is abnormal in all types of ways.
"I'm thinking belts," Sarah says, "Medium black dress with a pink belt underneath the breast without buckles. Or we could have silver with a thin black ribbon on the waist?" I think about it and say,
"Hmmm... I like the sound of the black one but... Can you make both of them and we can decide when we put them on?" She nods and says,
"Yep, a fashion designer never goes without at least two choices." She starts to walk out, into her small crafting room when I grab her arm.
"Wait. I want to decide for you," I say and she sighs. "Hey I'm not THAT terrible!" Sarah laughs and says,
"Go on then."
"Well... I'm thinking... Banana yellow frilly dress, which ends above the... Knees?" Sarah looks at me like I'm an alien and takes a sip from her cup of tea. She says,
"Nope, yellow looks terrible on me." We laugh and she walks away. It must be really hard to measure me. I'm so weird in sizing, I have to be in thirds, not half's.
"Hurry up your teas getting cold!" Sarah yells.
"Alright, I'm coming!" I call back and walk out.

4 days later...

It is Friday, the day of the competition. And am I nervous? Like hell. I'm so shaky that when I put on my mascara, I poke myself in my eye two times. I end up having to walk around for 15 minutes eyes wide open and watery. So I didn't make any mistakes again, I let Sarah do my make up (mascara and lip gloss). She, of course, isn't nervous at all scince she's the one who has the amazing voice, is beautiful and confident. The only thing I have is the eyes: green-blue. I sigh in annoyance, fussing about my stapes being too tight for my shoulders or what if my heels broke on my shoes but Sarah calms me down. She says,
"Look, there's nothing to worry about. All your doing is singing infront of the biggest, hotest boy band in history... Actually, that is quite big. But that's not the point. You will regret this if you don't do it, so... Do it." I nod. We walk out the door and Sarah starts the car. It's a red and White mini and we both own one but I'm far too nervous to even be walking on the pavement, let alone drive. It takes us only 10 minutes to get there and we find that we are early, so we go to Starbucks. It's 1pm, the lunch time for workers and it's packed. We order two mint milkshakes and whilst they're being made, we find a table and sit down.
"Do you reckon the whole of One Direction will be there?" Sarah questions, looking anxiously over her shoulder.
"Well, I think so. Harry will surely want to have back up from the boys-" I get interrupted by a tapping on my shoulder. I turn to see three girls, dressed in tight, short pink dresses. They must be going somewhere special.
"Excuse me, did you just say One Direction and Harry Styles? Only, we will be meeting him today," the one in the middle says, "This is Maya, Amelia and I'm Cara." They are all shockingly beautiful and look like their dresses cost a fortune. Or even their hair extensions. Sarah says,
"Oh are you doing the competition too? We are. Oh and I'm Sarah and this is Gr-"
"Marley. My names Marley," I say and I look into Sarah's eyes, telling her not to speak anymore about me. These are new people who just came out the blue and I'm not sure how they're gonna be.
"Oh really? Your all going to the competition too? How fantastic!" Cara says, though I can spot the sarcasm in her voice. Maya says,
"Oh Cara's going to win. She's amazing and will beat anyone." Amelia nods in agreement. How could they say that, knowing that some other people IN FRONT of them are entering too? Sarah seems to come back to earth whe she says,
"Oh, is that the time? Gra- er - Marley, we need to get going for the - er, afternoon... Vocal... Warm up... Test." She jumps up and pulls me with her. She drags me out of Starbucks and says,
"They are evil and I know it. From Cara's first word, I knew she would turn into a fat pig." I laugh and say,
"Well I'm certainly not done measuring her yet. My aunt used to say 'People are like clothes. You always have to measure them before you try them on and take them back at your place.'" Sarah nods and says,
"Well, it is actually time to wait outside the arena. That cue took almost half an hour!" I stop her and say,
"Arena? What arena?"
"The arena we are performing in. You did know we were auditioning in front of thousands of people?"
