Changing the Past

I want to go back and change the past. What I said to Harry Styles in School was all a lie...
My name is Grace Shuatsi and I am 18 years of age. If I told people that I went to School with Harry Styles nobody would believe me. That I was not only friends with him, oh no, I was best friends. The closest friend anyone could have. But something went wrong on the night of the prom... Something which made Harry forget...

12. Changing the Past; Chapter 12; My Heart Belongs To Two

I wake up the morning before the competition and get dressed into some blue skinnys and a plain pink vest-top. I plait my hair and decide that I'll leave it in for the rest of the day so it'll be wavy for tomorrow. After applying a thin layer of Vaseline (healthy for the lips), I try walk past Sarah's door with confidence. But suddenly her door opens and I walk smack-bang into it.  "Where do you think your going?" she asks, placing her hands on her hips. Honestly, you would think she owns me. "None of your business," I reply and pick myself up, brushing all the hair off from my jumper. Wow, the floor needs a hoover.  "Actually, it IS my business, since we both live here. You forgot to pay your share of the rent last month," she says, staring at me like I'm something she found on the floor.  "Well if you really want to know... I've made up with Harry and we're going out all day today." It is a total lie, I haven't spoken to Harry (mainly because I haven't seen him) at all but it shuts her up. I've never seen her so angry and jealous and I smirk right in her face. "I won't be needing to live here. My life is all planned out." I turn swiftly and start to walk towards the door.  "If your thinking about winning the contest and starting a career in singing, I wouldn't rely on your voice. You sound like a donkey." I laugh quietly to myself. Is that the best she can come up with? Come on, this argument is between two 18 year olds, not two 5 year olds. I open the door and look back over my shoulder at Sarah.  "Oh, I'm not relying on THAT. I'll be with Harry and I'll be perfectly fine and perfectly rich," I say and slam the door behind me. Haha. That done  her good. Luckily, I've packed for emergency run-aways so all my needs are in my shoulder bag. Toiletries, make up, money, keys... I won't be needing them. I find the nearest bin and throw them in there. I walk away from the apartment and wonder around town, trying to find a decent dress. I look around New Look and find an amazing white one which was tight around the top but sort of dragged on one end at the bottom, but in an attractive way. I managed to find a pair of White heels in some designer shoe shop and White dangly earrings from Accessorize. I love to wear jewellery, especially lots of bracelets that jingle when I move. Not so much rings though, they make my fingers go stiff. As soon as I walk out of the shop, I find a fancy looking hotel and book a room for a week. As I am about to go to my room number, the lady at the desk says, "Are you the one on the front cover of this magazine?" I glance at it and gulp. Thats me, plastered all over the page, hand in hand with Harry. I shake my head and say, "Sorry you've got the wrong person. She's... Er, my cousin though." Crap, I don't even know my cousins. I don't think I really have any. Anyway, the lady looks at me weirdly and looks back at her magazine then looks at me again, then back at her magazine and this goes on for what feels like years until I half smile and walk off. Whilst walking, I look at my room number and read 309, 3rd floor. Seems theres 100 rooms on each floor... Wow. As soon as I reach my door number I almost slip over something. I look at it and find take-away pizza left on the floor. Oh great, I'm living next to a slob for a week. But my thoughts are corrected when I see Niall bloody Horan walk out the door next to mine... Niall's POV "Haha, Liam. She doesn't like me, it's Harry she wants. In fact she hasn't said a word to me," I say over the phone to Liam. "And have you?" he asks. "Er - no not exactly. But I'm going to someday, I will. Harrys bound to make up with her, he gets all the girls..." I say and take my bin bag outside. I'm about to shut the door when I notice Grace standing out side the door next to mine.  "What you doing here?" I ask, pressing the hang up button on the phone. She looks more surprised than I do and almost drops her keys.  "I'm... I'm staying here for the week," she stutters.  "Having a holiday? Isn't this really close to where you live?" I ask. She nods and says, "Kicked out of my own apartment. Well, really I kicked myself out but..." She loses track of her words when she realises that I'm shirtless. Whoops. I should really remember to get changed whilst walking around in public. I always forget how girls act. "Why don't you come in my room?" I ask and she snaps out of her trance.  She blushes and says, "Oh no thanks. I've got to settle in my own room first. And practise for the comp." I feel disappointment deep in the pit of my stomach. She just rejected me.  "Oh the competition. Yeah, I forgot. I'll see you... Soon," I say and turn around.  "Thanks anyway Niall. It's really sweet of you. Sorry, my music might be loud but yeah... See you tomorrow." She pauses and suddenly hugs me. I feel startled but turn and hug her back, wrapping her in my arms.  Grace's POV I'm hugging Niall Horan. I'm hugging Niall Horan. He envelopes me in his warm, bare arms and holds me for a while. I pull away and smile at him. Entering my room, I dump all of my bags in one corner and sit on my king-sized bed. Oh no. I seem to have fallen for Niall. My heart now seems to belong to two. I still like Harry...
