An Old Friend

Summer and Harry know each other since ever. They had great moments together but they don't talk anymore like before since he got famous. When Harry finally comes back to Holmes Chapel, he finds Summer and remember an old feeling: he loves her.

10. Confession.

"Summer?," I hear my mom right after I enter home. "Yeah?," I reply. "Come here," she screams. I go upstairs and enter in my room. My mom is sitting in my bed, with a big box by her side. I make a confused look and she just smiles. "Open," she smiles. I open the box and I see a dress inside of it. I take the dress out of the box and stretch out on the bed, so I can look at it in full. It's so beautiful, I loved it. Is a shade of light orange. The model is strapless with a full skirt and a thin brown belt with rhinestones at the waist. It's perfect.

"I went to a dress store today, while you were at Harry's," my mom starts to say, "I saw this dress and I knew it had to be yours. It's beautiful." I look to my mom and to the dress again. I can't help but smile. Then, I think it must have cost a fortune and my mother doesn't have as much money as the other families. I know she bought it for me to wear at my graduation, but I have other dresses. Of course they aren't so chic, but I could use one of them anyway.

"Thanks, mom," I say, hugging her. She hug me tight and I close my eyes. I feel so good when I'm with her. And she always gets to do something for her because of me. I promise I'll compensate her some day.

"I know you are upset because of the dinner last night, so I had to do something for you," she whispers, looking at my eyes. "Oh, mom," I mutter, "It wasn't your fault. It's okay." "Summer, do you know why I invited Scott?," she gets serious. "Huh, no," I reply. "Because, I was hoping you liked him," she says. "And why you were hoping this?" "Don't get mad at me," she looks down, "I know you like Harry and I know you were suffering because he wasn't here anymore. So you started to talk with this Scott and I had a hope that you would like him some day. You know, you would stop suffering that much."

"Oh," I really don't know what to say now. "I'm sorry," she says. "It's okay. Really," I whisper, "You wanted what you think it would be the best for me, mom. I can't be mad at you for this." "You're a good person, Summer," she smiles, "I'm glad and proud to be your mother." I can't help but smile again. "And I'm proud to be your daughter." "Now, go sleep," she gets up from the bed, "Tomorrow is your big day and you need to be rested." "Okay," I hug her again.

She walks toward the door, and before she disappears, I say, "Thanks again, mom. And I love you." "I love you too, honey."
