An Old Friend

Summer and Harry know each other since ever. They had great moments together but they don't talk anymore like before since he got famous. When Harry finally comes back to Holmes Chapel, he finds Summer and remember an old feeling: he loves her.

9. A perfect day with my perfect girl.

The doorbell rings. I open the door and I see Summer smiling. A sad smile. She's using her uniform, her backpack on her shoulders. I hug her and we go to my bedroom. I can see she's upset. I know her better than I know myself. I can notice that she is upset just by looking at her eyes. We both sit at my bed and she throws her bag on the floor. "For what I owe the honor to receive you in my home?," I joke, with the intention to make she smiles truly. Because this is all that matters to me: see Summer smiling.

"I just want to be with you," she whispers, looking down. At first, she didn't want to tell me what happened to her. But I couldn't stand anymore seeing that sad grin on her face. I told her some jokes, some crazy things that happened to me and the boys during the tour, some funny memories I have about when we were kids. We also played video games, watched her favourite movie and tried to make some cupcakes - but we started a food fight and forgot the cupcakes on the stove. Yes, they all burned.

We spent the whole afternoon like this: talking or doing something we like to do together. I missed a day like this. A perfect day with my perfect girl. I missed Summer so much. I missed the sound of her laugh. I missed the sparks in those bright eyes. I missed that smile so sweet, gentle and contagious. I missed the way she has to breath long because she loses her breath for laughing so hard.

You know, I like to know that I'm the author of all Summer's smiles. And this is what I want to do until my last day alive: make her smile.

"I gotta go now," she says, "It's getting dark and I don't want to worry my mom." I hug her, burying my head in her neck. "I don't want you to go," I whisper. "But I have to, Curly," she laughs. Summer gets up from the couch, puts her hands on her hips and says, "I see you tomorrow, okay?" I get up too and I get really close to her. "Okay," I smile and I hug her. "You saved my day," she whispers too low, "Thank you, Harry."

"I'll always be there for you," I kiss her forehead and then I lead her to the door. She looks at me, smiling shyly. Then she surprises me giving me a long kiss near my lips. She starts to walk fast toward her house. I get stopped, surprised and delighted, staring at her until she disappears.

Man, I'm so in love with her!
