Holding on to what I have

Layla looks like any other teenage girl, she's pretty with long brown hair and green eyes. She's smart and has plenty of friends. But that's just the outside, on the inside she's breaking. Her parents just got a divorce and she lives with her dad who abuses her. Her mom just moved to London, Layla has had enough and she runs away and goes to her mother's house. While she's there she runs into the one and only Zayn Malik. She becomes friends with hum, but it seems like there is a romance brewing between him and her. Will she be too scared to let him into her life? Or will she finally open up to someone and let them in, let them help her with everything that has happened.

5. Seeing my Mum

I opened the passenger door and got it, "Hey Lay!" My mum said. "Hi!" I hugged her and threw my stuff in the back. "So how long will you be in London?" My mum asks as she pulls out of the parking lot. I see Kelli slowly disappear in the rear view mirror. "Um," I didn't think about that. I would have to tell her soon but I think I could play this out longer. "For 3 weeks." I finally say. "Oh, that's nice. Was that one of your friends?" She asks me. "Yeah, that's Kelli. She is, um staying with hr brother." I say. That wasn't a complete lie, she was staying with her brother, he's just younger than her and she also lives with her mum and dad. "Oh, that's nice. Will you two have to go to something school related tomorrow?" She asks me as she turns onto a road. "Yeah, we have to, um, we have to go this hotel that the other kids are staying at and met up with them and we are going to a museum." I say. I would have to think of things to tell her each day so she wouldn't be too suspicious. "Oh that's nice." My mum says.

An awkward silence falls on us, I look at my mum. My mum I haven't seen in two months, who just got up and left me with my abusive father. Who hadn't even contacted me until that day. She looked different, younger almost. Like she was free-er. I smiled, hopefully when I told her the truth she would let me stay, I don't think she would send me back to him. She might make me file a police report, I hope she doesn't. Don't get me wrong, what my dad did wasn't right, but I love him and I don't want to see him get punished, even if he did hurt me.

My mum pulled up to an apartment building, 'Home sweet home." She said with a smile. We climbed out of the car and she went back and got some of my thing, I got the rest and we walked up to the front door and stepped in. We walked over to an elevator and got in. She pressed the number 7 and the elevator began to rise. She turns toward me, 'So how have you been?" She asks me with a huge smile on her face. "Good," I say, " Kermit died tho." I say. My mum's face fell, Kermit was our dog. We had him since I was 7, my mum loved him so much and I knew it broke her heart when she left to not be able to take him with her. 'Oh, what did your father do with the body?" She asks. I really didn't want to tell her the truth, when my dad found the body he put it outside for other animals to eat. It made my sick so I buried it in the backyard without him knowing, "We buried it." I say. "Oh, that's nice, he deserved that." She said. The doors opened and we stepped out into a long hallway. My mum turned left and starting walking down, "Room K25." She said. She stopped at a door and took out a key and unlocked the door. The door swung open and revealed my mum house, and it shocked me.

I stepped inside and looked around, it was huge! "Down the hall to the left is my room," She turned right and walked down the hall and opened a door. "And this is your room." She opened the door and I started inside. There was a king size bed with cute pink and black throw pillows all over. The walls were a soft blue and all the dressers and desks were white. "This is, it's beautiful!" I gasp. "My job pays good money." Mum says. "I'll let you get situated and I'm sure your tired so I will catch up with you tomorrow before I go to work." I love you." She says. " I love you too mum." I say. I hadn't said that in so long  and it felt so good to say it. She smiled as she closed my bedroom door and I sat down. My smile fell when I looked in the mirror and saw the barley there bruise, reminding me of my past and what I has just left.
