Meet Me in the Meadow

Dreams are like fireflies. You have to catch them in order to see the beauty, but once they stop lighting up, they die. That sums up my life. An eighteen year old girl, who sits alone everyday in the same spot wondering what to do with her life. If anyone wants to save me from ending it, tell them to meet me in the meadow. I bet you no one will show up.

21. Same Old Routine

I walked through the halls of the school, looking down at my feet. Lingering snickers and insults wafted in the air as I passed them by. I tried to plug them out, but they just kept going through my brain. I finally reached my study hall hour and sat in my usual corner in the library. I pulled out a random book, and started to read. That is, until Ivy came prancing up to me.

"Aw, did Amelia's boyfriend leave the country without you?" She teased, all of her little blonde friends snickering behind her.

"He's not my boyfriend.." I muttered through my teeth, anger boiling up inside of me.

"Oh yeah, that is right! No guy could ever love you!" She laughed, me just staring at her patiently waiting for her to go away.

"You are boring today. Did Harry leaving make you depressed? Oh boo you." She grinned, me balling up my fists at my sides.

"Oh, you want to hit me? Go right ahead! Let's see where that will lead you, you attention whore." She scoffed, quickly turning and walking away.

At the end of the day, I packed up my things, and sprinted out the door. I just cannot stand to be in that building. It is November, only about seven months, and I am out of here. I run across the street, and down a dirt path, until it leads me to the woods. I climb through the debris that blew onto the trail in last nights storm. I finally reached my destination. The meadow. I pranced around in the thick green grass, until I reached the old willow tree in the center. The grass was kind of wet, so I pulled out a blanket that I had in my backpack and sat it gently on the ground.

Today was an okay day, besides my encounter with Ivy this morning. God, sometimes I wish I could rip her perfect blonde hair off of her bleach white head! She makes me so mad, that sometimes I wish she could just fall into some pit of despair. Or if someone just shaved her head during the night, that would be great too. Now, I know my thoughts seem very childish, but she drives me to the point where I wish she would just poof of the freaking planet!

I heard rustling in the leaves, and my head snapped up. I looked up to see Mason. His eyes found mine, and he smiled and started to walk towards me.

"Hey, Amelia! What are you doing here?" He asked, standing above me now.

"Just sitting, thinking." I smiled back at him.

"Ah, well I was just headed home, would you like to walk with me?" He questioned, rocking back and forth on his heels.

"Oh, no thanks. I am going to stay here for awhile." I reply, looking casually down at my feet.

"Well okay! I guess I'll see you around then! Bye, Amelia!" He said, and took off across the field.

I grinned in his direction. Mason is such a sweet boy, I don't know why people give him trouble. I guess he just has that same thing that I have. Maybe he has that edge to him that drives people away, just like I have. We are alike, in many ways, it is almost kind of scary. I guess that's why we became friends the other day. I shrugged my shoulders to myself, and went back to my same old boring routine.
