21. Look After You

Harry’s POV

I was standing in front of the door of her house, waiting for Jenny to open it. When I woke up around 10 am I texted her to make sure I wouldn't wake her up when I go over. I heard faint noises coming from the other side of the door, then the doorknob moved, and her sight filled the view.

“What happened to you?” was the first sentence that left my mouth. She was holding a pair of crutches that helped her walk without using her right leg. There was a plaster over her ankle, and one of her eyes was swollen.

“Did a trunk go over you or something?”

“Really funny…I had the worst day of my life yesterday. But come in, I’m glad you’re back!”

After she closed the door, I picked her up and carried her to the couch. She giggled as I planted a little kiss on her cheek. I laid her down and put her legs on my lap.

“Is it broken?”

“No, just cracked.”

“What happened?”

Through her story, I kept biting my lips, to stop myself from giggling, but at the end, I couldn't contain my laughter. Her clumsiness was something I found really cute.

“Don’t laugh at me!”

“Sorry. Is the cat okay?”

“The doctor said it’s curable, thank god! And thank you Harry, I’m also okay!”

“You’re adorable, when you play the offended.”

I placed a small kiss to her burning cheeks, which made her giggle.

“Anyway, I was about to order a pizza. Do you want some?”

“Sure.”

“Okay, wait a minute, I’ll bring the menu.”

She started getting up, but I stopped her.

“Stay, I’ll bring it.”

“You don’t have to babysit me, I’m okay.”

“You’re kidding right? You’re a big pile of clumsiness. I leave for 3 days and you practically kill yourself. You obviously need an adult’s presence.” I teased her.

“Oh shut up!” She threw a pillow at me laughing, but I managed to avoid, what made her fake-pout. I found the little menu on the kitchen counter, and ordered 2 pizzas after Jenny and I decided what kind of pizza do we want.

“So how was the recording?”

“Pretty good. We even started writing a brand new song.”

“Really? Can I hear it?”

“Maybe when it’s ready.” I smiled reassuringly.

“You know I…”

My mouth started moving before I could have thought about what I was going to say.

‘I missed you.’ That’s what I was going to say. But I quickly stopped myself before saying something that isn't mutual. Unfortunately, she caught my half sentence and was looking at me like she was telling me with her eyes to continue.

“Yes?” “I…uhm…never mind.”

“No, tell me!”

“I…missed you.” I whispered, looking down. I didn't want to see her expression.

“I missed you too.”

That was unexpected for me, and at first I thought she was just being polite, but no. When I looked up and saw her red cheeks, and sincere eyes, I knew she was being honest. That made me smile. Our lips were like magnets, they attracted each other’s, and I wasn't planning on fighting against it. I closed the gap between us for the first time since I came back. I pulled her properly onto my lap, making sure her leg was in a comfortable position. She smiled into the kiss, and wrapped her arms around my neck. When we both were out of breath, I pulled away and rested my forehead against hers.

“How long will you stay home?”

“For a week at least.”

“Okay, I’ll be here by ten.” She broke away, and looked at me questioningly.

“I told you, you need someone to look after you.”

“No, I don’t.” “Yes, you do, end of story!” “But don’t you have to go to the studio or whatever?”

“We don’t have much to do, just in the afternoon. I can stay until 2 or 4 pm. We’ll see.”

“You’re an idiot, you know that?” She giggled at my fake-gasp, and leaned in to kiss me, when the bell rang.

“Probably the pizza. Will you let me get it?”

“Nope, I’ll get it.” before she could have protested, I was heading to the front door, where I paid for the pizzas. When I looked back to the couch, Jenny was gone. I heard noises from the kitchen, so I walked inside and saw her struggling with taking 2 plates down from the cabinet. She was standing on one leg, more precisely on her tiptoes. Somehow I felt that it wasn't going to end well, so I walked up to her, just in time to catch her when she lost her balance.

“You can’t just sit and enjoy pampering, can you?”

We put the pizzas on the plates, and I helped her walk back to the couch, where we began watching Friends.

“Thanks for the pizza. You shouldn't have paid for it.”

“No problem.”

Jenny’s POV

During the whole week, Harry showed up with little surprises such as flowers, chocolates, cookies etc. I told him to stop, because I felt uncomfortable with the fact he was wasting money on me, but he just laughed off and kept doing it. He came exactly at 10 o’clock every morning. On Friday, I woke up to the sound of laughter. When I checked the time on my phone, I saw it was already 10:36. I felt really confused. I should have been awake, but even if I overslept, I should have heard the bell rang when Harry came. But wait…who was in the house? My parents weren't supposed to be home. I didn't bother dressing up, I just tried to struggle downstairs with those stupid crutches. But it was totally my fault, I was the one insisting on staying in my room instead of moving downstairs to my sister’s room. I didn't look up from the stairs, until I felt a pair of big hands helping me getting down. I looked up to see a smiling Harry.

“Careful sweetheart!”

“Harry what…how did you…?”

In the big confusion, I didn't even realize he was calling me sweetheart. But a few seconds later, when my brain successfully processed the information, my cheeks turned into bright red and a smile took over the confusion.

“Good morning, honey. I just sent Harry to go wake you up since I have to leave now.” my mom said, planting a kiss on my cheek.

“But…you are supposed to be in the office! And…woah someone explain me what’s going on.”

“We’re having a meeting today, so I only have to go by 11, did you forget? I have to leave now or I’m going to be late. It was nice to meet you Harry!”

“The pleasure’s mine!”

“Honey breakfast is on the table, I’ll be home by 4.”

“Umm..bye.” when she left I looked up to Harry.

“What?” he asked still smiling.

“What was this? How long have you been here?”

“Come, get something to eat, while I tell you.” he escorted me to the kitchen table, and put a cup of coffee in front of me.

“So, when I arrived you were still asleep, and since your mom was home, I introduced myself and we were talking a little. That’s it.”

“What were you talking about?” “Nothing major. She asked me a few stuff, mainly about my family and well just the basic things. Then we switched the topic…” he finished chuckling.

“To what?”

“You, us.” “Oh my God, tell me she didn't make a total fool of me?”

“No.” he laughed.

“I already knew you were a crazy fan, so she didn't say new…”

“Heeey!” “Don’t worry! It’s cute.”

“And what about that ‘us’ part?”

“Well she said she’s not happy that you’re dating with a famous person, but…”

“But? Come on Harry!”

“But she sees that you’re happy with me, so she accepted.”

As the words sank into my mind, I put my hands in front of my face to cover my from ear to ear smile, and my tomato red face. That doesn't sounded like my mom. My mom wasn't that calm, she always overreacted things, but who cares? He likes the boy I’m with and that’s the point. Although that wasn’t hard. Who wouldn't like him? He was so caring. He made sure I didn't have to walk home the next week, when I couldn't skip school anymore. When my parents were still working, he came to pick me up, discretely, so no one noticed him. And he was there to calm me down on the last Sunday before my exam, when I was freaking out, and was on the edge of exhaustion.

“And on the 4th of July 1777…”

“76”

“Argh, I’ll fail!”

“No, you won’t. Why don’t you rest a little. We've been studying for hours.”

“You know you don’t have to be here, right? You don’t have to struggle with me.”

“It’s okay, sweetheart. I like being with you, no matter what we do.” he said hugging me.

He’d been calling me ‘sweetheart’ since the day he met my mom about 2 weeks ago. I found it absolutely adorable, and it didn't fail to make me blush. Not once. As I rested my head on his shoulder, I let my mind run away. A few days after the exams, Harry and I’ll be together for a month. One month paradise.

“What are you smiling at?”

“Oh nothing, it’s just…on Friday, we’ll be together for a month.”

“I know.” He mumbled into my hair, where he was resting his chin, then crashed his lips to mine.

“That’s why we’re going to the cinema on Friday.”
