7. Friends

Harry’s POV

The next day Louis woke me up. He jumped on top of me and screamed: “Wake up, sleepy head!”

“Lou, what the hell?!”

“Breakfast is ready and we’re leaving in an hour.”

“What’s the time?”

“It’s 9 am. So get out of the bed now!”

I felt a huge urge to close my eyes and fall back to sleep, but I couldn't  I was sitting on my bed, rubbing my eyes, then slowly dressed up. When I walked out of my room, the smell of eggs and toasts hit my nose. Suddenly my stomach started growling, so I went to the kitchen, where Lou gave me a cup of tea.

“Thanks.” I mumbled, and grabbed some food.

After breakfast, we got in the car and went to a short interview. They took a few pictures of us, and brought their questions. Nothing new of course, but thanks to Louis I really enjoyed it. He made silly faces and hint cheeky comments and things that only the 5 of us understood.

Two hours later we went to a restaurant for lunch. They gave us an hour spare time, so I decided to text Jenny while the others were playing with some video game.

“Hey! Can we talk?”

I didn't know if she was able to talk, she had to be in class. But I wanted to talk with her so bad. I waited a little, and as the seconds passed, my hope decreased. ‘Maybe she’s got an exam or something.’ I thought. The next thing I heard was a beep from my phone. She wrote back!

“Hey! Sure. Is everything OK?”

“Yeah, I just wanted to talk. What are you doing?”

“Sitting on history. Don’t you have rehearsal?”

“That will be in an hour. I’m sorry for distracting you.”

“You’re not. You just saved my life. I was going to die of boredom.”

“Haha. Your welcome.”   We talked for a while, then she had to leave:

“Sorry, I gotta go now. French exam’s coming:( Wish me good luck!”

“Good luck! See you later!xx”

I put the phone down, and smiled. It hasn't been a week since I met her, still she was like my best friend. And deep inside I hoped she felt the same.

For the next 30 minutes, I joined the game.

“So how’s your little girlfriend?” Louis asked.

“Hmm? Oh, Jenny? She’s not my girlfriend.”  Yet. I didn't say it out loud, although I’m sure they saw my suspicious grin.

“When can we meet her?” Niall asked.

“Why do you want to meet her?”

“Why not?”

“Well, I don’t know. Not now.”

“Why?”

He seemed disappointed. Of course they want to make things awkward.

“You can’t meet her, until things get straight.” They all burst out laughing.

“Things get straight? You mean you finally ask her out?”

“Something like that. I told you she’s different.”

“So how long you want to wait?”

“I don’t know. We've just met a few days ago. I’m not sure if she even treats me as her friend.” They all made a confused face making me continue.

“The last time, yesterday, we were talking and she said she was surprised, cause she doesn't usually open up to strangers like that. I asked her about us and well, we didn't really talk enough you know. And it’s been just a few days.”

“Interesting. I thought girls usually rush into your arms if you know what I mean.”

“Yeah, but I told you, she’s different.”

Our conversation ended as soon as a man came for us.

“It’s time.” he said, and we all headed to the stage.

The place was huge, and as I always did when we were at such big places like that, I thought about the way we got here. Sometimes I was shocked of the fact that our tickets were all sold out. When you see hundreds of seats in front of you, you just can’t believe that many people like what you do. What others call a job, you call having fun with 4 of your best friends. It’s an amazing feeling. And it’s more amazing, when you’re singing in front of them. I knew the lads felt the same, we shared a smile, then started with ‘What makes you beautiful’. We went through all of the tracks from the album, and some more from X-factor. It was 3.45 pm when we finished. As I was standing in front of the mirror, I thought: Maybe I should change. Jumping around on stage for more than an hour has its effect. I forced the guys in the car, and rushed home. I ran upstairs, changed, put some aftershave on, then ran back to my car.   “I’m on my way.” I texted then turned on the engine. The shop was about 15 minutes from my apartment, but I drove a little faster, so I got there in 10 minutes. I put on my hat, then walked to the door. I saw her through the glass, she was sitting behind the counter, doing her homework I guess, cause she had a super bored expression. As soon as I walked in, her eyes brightened and a huge smile appeared on her face.

“Hi!” I said, walking to the chair next to her.

“Hey! she smiled. I couldn't help but smile. Her eyes were shining and from the second I walked into the shop her smile didn't want to fade away.

“How was the exam?”

“Well, Harry Styles wished me good luck, so it must be good.” she laughed.

“It won’t be my merit if you get a good grade.”

“How was your day? You seem to be tired. Do you want a coffee, or something?”

“What if we go to the Starbucks?”

“You know I’m working.”

“But after that?”

“You’re going to spend the rest of your day with me?” I had to laugh. She was so naive. Of course, I want to spend my time with her. For a second I felt like I have to tell her this, but I quickly changed my mind.

“Well, as far as I’m a stranger to you, yes.” She smiled.

“Then guess I’m gonna make a tea. Is that good for you?”

“Yeah.”

“Then give me 5 minutes.” She went to the staff’s room and while she was gone, I looked at her books. Her handwriting was shaggy and kinda illegible, but I didn't mind it. I laughed when I saw the scribbles and drawings. There were hearts and lyrics everywhere. When she came back with 2 cups of teas, and noticed I was watching her books, she blushed.

“I know, my handwriting is awful. I’m inpatient and bored. That’s why a draw, but since I can’t draw, I usually write things.”

“I've never seen such an ugly book which belonged to a girl.” I laughed, but as soon as I saw the sadness and embarrassment in her eyes I continued “But I like it.”  She looked at me and raised one eyebrow.

“You’re different and it’s cool.” I said shrugging my shoulders. She smiled and gave me the tea.

“Thanks.” We spent the rest of her duty time laughing and talking, and I felt like I've known her for years, so I decided I’m gonna make my next move.

“So, it’s almost closing-time. Do you think I’m still a stranger?” She blushed.

“Umm..no?” I laughed.

“Why is it a question?”

“What am I to you?” I immediately knew why she made that a question. I didn't know what to say, I didn't know if she was ready for the next level I was dying for.

“Umm..a friend?” She laughed.

“Why is that a question?”

“I didn't know if you’d like to be one?”

“You seriously need to ask that?”

“So is that a yes?”

“Of course, you’re fool!” I smiled and I felt like I was the fan, not her. I wanted to jump around, I was so happy.

“Then, my friend, what about that Starbucks thing?”

“Let’s go!”

We made the usual round in the shop, then she went to change. When she came back, my eyes widened. She wore a pair of tight jeans with high-heels and black top; simple but breath-takening.

“You look amazing.” She blushed and smiled at the ground.

“Thank you! Can we go?”
