I wanted to bury myself in you,

As if we were roots in the ground.

Growing and expanding together,

Slowly and softly bound.

But where are you?

Your smooth skin looks porcelain.

I stare at you, not sure if you’re real

Or if I’m hallucinating.

I reach out a hand to touch you,

But instead of the warm inviting flesh I anticipate,

There is nothing.

You disappear as quickly as a ripple in the ocean,

As my hand slowly falls away.
