A Grim Glory - ON HOLD

Grim. The creature that lurks in the dark. The creature that does not hesitate to kill. So they say.

9. Bonded?

Merana looked up when Grim was on his feet. She was regarding him carefully, yet she kept her thoughts to herself. He could not determine what she was thinking, or her emotions of the current moment. Grim inclined his head in a curious way, before speaking to her with his mind. How are you feeling?

She shot him a slightly annoyed look. “What do you mean? In what way?” She snapped back.

In exactly that way. He answered shortly, watching her carefully.

“So? Are you going to tell me what all of that... stuff was about last nigh- yesterday?”

If that is what you still wish.

“Then tell me.”

Alright then.

There were a few moments silence.

“Well go on then...”

He sighed, before beginning. My... race. You say you humans have never heard of us? Well we've heard of you. We've contacted you, talked to you, mixed with you.

She nodded, in deep thought. “So that's why you can speak my language?”

Yes.

“So where have you know us from? Where do you come from?”

A faint smile flickered over his muzzle. Ever since... forever, your race, the human race, has know, secretly, about us. Our two races have some sort of... bond. Every Grim Glory and Human born has a... partner. A fellow creature who was born at the exact same time as the other. Sure, it can be a few years difference, but it has to be the same date and time. And when I say exactly, I mean exactly. To every millisecond. Because your race has grown faster then my own, there are less humans to have this... bond.

“But what does that have to do with me? Surely you and I have nothing to do with each other?”

Grim shook his head. I think this is not the case. He looked up at her, red eyes gleaming menacingly. First, I couldn't bring myself to kill you, as if there was something... stopping me. Second, I healed you, and you felt burning pain. That's two for the signs of a bond.

Merana groaned.

Grim rolled his eyes. What date is your birthday? What year?

“Uhhh... 26th of November, 1997.”

Grim nodded. Do you know anything about the time?

“Somewhere around... 8:15am?”

Grim looked thoughtful. Maybe it is right then...

She stared at him. “So when was your birthday?”

26th of November, 1896, sometime around 8:15am, too.

“Wait. You're something like 100 years older then me.”

Yes. My race live longer than human beings. Much longer. And yet, there is only one human that is bonded to me. It seems it is you.

“But... you killed my parents...”

Grim huffed. Do you think I did that on purpose? Do you think I even came here on purpose?

“Well... yeah.....”

Well think again, then. Grim turned, and walked out of the old building, leaving Merana to think. She stared blankly at him, as he disappeared into the dark dawn.
