Blinded By You

6 months ago, I lost my eyesight. But life goes on, I attend university in London and one of my best friend's is Niall Horan, from One Direction. But he doesn't know I'm blind. Will he hate me when I tell him? Will he treat me the same? Will I fall for one of his bandmates...

Niall’s POV

“Hey Ed, what’s up?” I clapped him on the back.

“Nothing really,” he answered. “How’s the tour been?”

“Awesome,” I grinned at him. “The concert in Dublin was absolutely incredible; getting to perform in Ireland again was a dream come true.”

“I know, mate, I heard that you got a little teary eyed,” Ed said.

I nodded, “The fans there were just amazing, especially while singing Little Things.”

Ed smiled before asking, “I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind me asking Kodie to perform at one of my gigs.”

“She would love that,” I told him. “I’m actually going to pick her up from her class if you want to come with.” Ed nodded and he followed me towards the car.

The two of us talked as I drove us to the place where I usually picked Kodie up. I parked and waited until I saw her; she was walking out of the building with her bag slung over her shoulder and her hair blowing in the wind. I couldn’t help but smile whenever I see her; I honestly cannot believe that she’s actually my girlfriend.

I opened my door and called her name; she picked her head up and flashed a smile. “Hey babe,” I pecked her lips.

“Hi,” she replied shyly.

“There’s someone who wants to talk to you,” I told her.

Kodie furrowed her eyebrows, “Who?”

I looked over and motioned for Ed to get out of the car. “How are you?” Ed asked her. I laughed as her mouth dropped open.

“Good,” she answered.

“I have a proposition for you,” Ed began. “If you want to, I would love it if you performed at an upcoming gig of mine.” Kodie’s mouth dropped open again and stayed like that; I gently put my finger under her chin and closed it for her. “Are you alright?” Ed asked, fighting back a smile. She shook her head and fumbled with her bag.

“I’m fine; just a little stunned.” Kodie finally answered. “Are you serious? Wait, am I being Punk’d?”

Ed and I laughed, “No, you are not being Punk’d.” I took her hand and walked her to the passenger seat. “Hop in the back, Ed.” He made a face, but did as I said and I drove back to my flat.

Once we were sitting in my living room, Ed explained everything to Kodie. “Next week I have a gig and my manager said I should have someone open for me; I know you’ve done the concerts for the boys, but I think it would be really cool if you opened for me. You already know I’m a fan and I think that all of my fans will like you.” He told her, making her blush. “You could sing whatever you want, an original or a cover, and then if you want to, I want you to sing one of my songs with me.”

“Are you serious? This is absolutely mental,” Kodie pinched her arm. “Ow! Nope not a dream.” I shook my head at her. “But yes, one hundred percent yes! I would be honored to!”

“Great,” Ed grinned. “If you give me your number, I can let you know when the rehearsals will be.”

“Cool,” Kodie said and handed over her phone. I could tell she was trying extremely hard not to be over excited, but I knew all she wanted to do was bounce around the flat. Ed quickly called her phone and saved the number into her phone.

Ed’s phone beeped and he looked down, “I’ve got to go, but I’ll talk to the both of you later.

I watched Kodie, waiting for her to explode; as soon as the door clicked shut, she jumped up, shouted and proceeded to dance around in a circle. Not being able to help myself, I burst out laughing, rolling around on the couch. Kodie stopped dancing and turned to face me, “Stop laughing! Let me be excited!” she pouted.

“I’m not laughing at you, I’m laughing at your ridiculous happy dance.” I explained. She continued to pout and I grabbed her waist, pulling her on top of me. “I’m sorry. Please forgive me,” I said. Kodie didn’t say anything so I kissed her pouted lips. “Pretty,” Kiss. “Please,” Kiss. “Forgive,” Kiss. “Me.” I annunciated each word with a peck to her lips. On the last kiss, I felt her lips turn up and she started giggling.

“I suppose I can find it in my heart to forgive you,” she giggled.

“Good,” I flipped her over so she was lying on her back on the couch. I poked her side and she moved away from me; I laughed and began tickling her even more. She let out a shriek and tried to slap my hands away from her sides.

“Niall, stop!” she yelled. Kodie got up to run away, I let her take a few steps before I pulled her back toward me, pressing her back to my chest and spinning around in circles. Kodie had memorized the layout of my flat and could walk around without bumping into anything. “Are you going to come to Ed’s gig?”

“Of course,” I pressed my lips to her cheek, enjoying seeing her face turn a light pink.

“Good because I really hope you like the song I’m planning on singing,” she said.

I smiled, “I already know I will.” I let go of her waist and she ran away; I let her get a head start before chasing after her.

~`~`~`~`~`~`

“Hello everybody!” I called out to the arena. “I’m here to introduce, not only Ed, but my good friend who will be singing a couple of songs before Ed comes out.” I was met with screams. “So now, please give a warm welcome to Kodie Marie!”

I left the stage and the lights went out; I heard the music begin and turned to watch my girlfriend perform.

Heyyyyy

My jaw dropped open; damn, my girlfriend had a voice that did not seem like it should come from her small body. Kodie had on a sparkly, red tank top and low rise leather-looking pants.

I could feel it from the start;

Couldn’t stand to be apart;

Something ‘bout you caught my eye;

Something moved me deep inside.

After every line, she hit a pose on the beat, making it seem as though she had been performing all her life.

I don’t know what you did boy, but you had it;

And I’ve been hooked ever since.

I told my mother, my brother, my sister and my friends;

Told the others, my lovers, both past and present tense;

Cause every time I see you everything starts making sense.

Ain’t no other man, can stand up next to you;

Ain’t no other man on the planet does what you do;

You’re the kind of guy a girl finds in a blue moon;

You’ve got soul, you got class, you got style, you’re bad ass.

Ain’t no other man it’s true,

Ain’t no other man but you.

My cheeks hurt; I was smiling so much. Now I finally knew why Kodie wanted me here to see her perform this song for the first time. If I’m not mistaken, and I sincerely hope I’m not, she had written this song about me. I was really touched that she would write something for me and we have only been together three weeks. Yes, I was counting. But could you blame me?

Never thought I’d be alright, no, no, no;

‘Til you came and changed my life, yeah, yeah, yeah;

What was cloudy now is clear, yeah, yeah;

You’re the light that I needed.

You got what I want boy and I want it;

So keep on givin’ it up.

Kodie walked across the stage, getting the crowd to clap along to the beat of the song.

So tell your mother, your brother, your sister and your friends;

And the other, your lovers, better not be present tense;

‘Cause I want everyone to know that you are mine and no one else’s.

Whoa, oh, oh

Ain’t no other man, can stand up next to you;

Ain’t no other man on the planet does what you do;

You’re the kind of guy a girl finds in a blue moon;

You’ve got soul, you got class, you got style, you’re bad ass.

Ain’t no other man it’s true,

Ain’t no other man but you.

Break it down now

Ain’t no other, ain’t, ain’t no other, other;

Ain’t no other, ain’t, ain’t no other lover;

Ain’t no other, I-I-I need no other;

Ain’t no other man but you.

Kodie danced around stage, moving her hips along with the music.

You are there when I’m a mess;

Talked me down from every ledge;

Give me strength, boy you’re the best.

You’re the only one who’s ever passed every test.

My jaw dropped as she belted out the last note. There was no other way to put it; Kodie was an all around amazing performer.

Ain’t no other man, can stand up next to you;

Ain’t no other man on the planet does what you do;

You’re the kind of guy a girl finds in a blue moon;

You’ve got soul, you got class, you got style, you’re bad ass.

Ain’t no other man it’s true,

Ain’t no other man but you.

And now I’m telling you,

Said ain’t no other man but you

Ain’t no other man, can stand up next to you;

Ain’t no other man on the planet does what you do;

You’re the kind of guy a girl finds in a blue moon;

You’ve got soul, you got class, you got style, you’re bad ass.

Ain’t no other man it’s true,

Ain’t no other man but you.

Once she finished, the crowd went wild; they were all on their feet. Kodie thanked them then left the stage with a huge smile on her face. “What did you think?” she asked breathlessly.

I picked her up into my arms and spun her around, “You are so incredibly talented!” I kissed her full on the mouth. “That song was amazing! I can’t believe you wrote that all on your own. It took me forever before I wrote anything that sounded decent.” I admitted. “I do have a question,” I said and she frowned slightly. “Was that inspired by me?” I asked.

“Yes,” Kodie said nervously.

My smile grew and I kissed her once more. “All the more reason to love it!”

Kodie smiled and put her hands on my face, pulling me closer to her, before kissing me. I rested my hands on her waist and continued to kiss her until a cough interrupted us. I pulled away from her and gave a sheepish grin to Ed. “Sorry to break up the love fest,” Ed said with knowing grin, “But Kodie I need you on stage.” I released my grip on her and I watched as Ed and Kodie sang Lego House, harmonizing perfectly.
