Blinded By You

6 months ago, I lost my eyesight. But life goes on, I attend university in London and one of my best friend's is Niall Horan, from One Direction. But he doesn't know I'm blind. Will he hate me when I tell him? Will he treat me the same? Will I fall for one of his bandmates...

64. Sickness & Health

Kodie’s POV

“I hate being sick!” I complained as I wrapped myself in a blanket.

“Don’t worry babe, you’ll be better in no time.” Niall said from the other couch.

I hadn’t been feeling well for a couple days and when Niall took me to see a doctor; I was diagnosed with strep throat. The doctor had put me on antibiotics and in a few days I wouldn’t be contagious. I didn’t want Niall getting sick, so I refused to let him touch me until I was feeling better.

“At least I’m enjoying the Harry Potter movie marathon we’re having.” I grinned.

Niall and I had agreed on watching all the Harry Potter movies to pass the time and now we were on the third movie. I have watched these movies so many times that I was quoting the movies almost word for word.

“The soup is almost ready,” Niall told me.

I smiled, “Thank you for taking care of me.”

“It’s not a problem,” he answered.

“Love you,” I said.

“Love you too, baby girl.”

“I don’t want you to go,” I pouted.

“I don’t want to go either,” Niall responded.

We were at the airport and the boys were getting ready to leave for Australia and they would be there for about a month. While Niall was in Australia enjoying the sun, I was going to start my first tour around Europe in a couple of weeks.

I couldn’t wait to start touring. To think that people actually wanted to come see me perform was absolutely mental.

But I’m glad that I would have something to keep me occupied while Niall was away so I wouldn’t miss him as much. After spending so much time together, it was going to be difficult to be apart from Niall.

“I’ll be back before you know it,” Niall said and kissed my forehead.

“I’m really jealous that you get to be out in the warm weather for a month. That is really not fair.” I said.

“When we come back I’ll be nice and tan,” Niall told me.

I laughed, “That or you’ll be as red as a lobster.”

Niall was quiet and I could picture him thinking over my words, “That is also a good possibility.”

“Flight 451 is now boarding, flight 451.” A woman’s voice announced over the speaker.

“That’s me.” Niall pulled me closer against his chest.

“Please don’t forget about me while you’re lying out on the beaches,” I joked.

Niall bent closer to my ear, “How could I forget about you after last night?”

I felt my cheeks turn red at his comment because last night we had been up most of the night kissing, touching and things of that nature.

“Oh shut it.”

He kissed me thoroughly before hugging me once more. “I’ll call, text and Skype you every chance I get.” Ni said.

“I love you,” I said.

“I love you, too.” Niall answered before letting me go and to board the plane.

I stayed standing until Perrie touched my arm and we headed out of the airport. Paparazzi were snapping pictures and yelling questions at us as we left, but we both ignored them. If I was feeling this sad about Niall leaving, I couldn’t imagine how Perrie felt. She and Zayn had gotten engaged whereas Niall and I were only dating. It must be harder for her seeing as she was starting to plan the wedding.

A week later, I had just gotten home from show rehearsal and I fell onto my couch. I had been feeling queasy earlier this morning, but once I had eaten some saltines my manager, Helen, happened to have in her purse, I felt much better.

But now, the nausea was back and I went into the kitchen to grab some bread to make myself a piece of toast.

Once I had a piece of toast, I sat back on my couch and turned on the television. I had only been listening for a couple minutes when my phone rang.

Trying to pull my phone out of my pocket was more difficult than it should have been and when it was out of my pocket I answered to hear Niall’s voice on the line. “Hey Ni, how’s Australia?” I asked.

“Amazing as it always is,” he answered. “How are you doing?”

“Feeling a little strange today, but I think it’s just remnants of strep throat.” I paused. “Are you feeling okay? I hope I didn’t get you sick.”

“I feel fine, but I’ll take some extra vitamins just in case.” Niall said. “How are rehearsals going?”

“Tiring, but good. Besides singing, I also have a couple songs where I have to learn a dance routine. Which isn’t too hard, but remembering dance steps and the number of steps to make sure I don’t fall off the stage is quite challenging.” I explained.

“I would imagine so.” Niall laughed.

Niall kept laughing and I scowled. “It’s not funny; I could break my neck or seriously injure myself.”

“No, that’s not why I’m laughing. I just remembered a video I had seen where this person falls off a stage and landed on someone in the front row. It’s funny, but it really shouldn’t be.” Niall told me.

I giggled, “That does sound kind of hilarious.”

In the background, I could hear someone calling Niall’s name. “Babe, I have to go to sound check. I’ll talk to you later, okay?”

“Sounds good. Have a great show.” I said.

“We will. Bye, Kodes.” Niall said before we both hung up.

I guess the combination of the toast and hearing from Niall made my stomach feel better and I decided to go to bed early to try to get rid of this cold.

I hate being sick.
