Kodie’s POV

“Class you’re free to go. No homework.” My professor said to us all. I let out a sigh of relief; finally, I was all caught up with all my work in all of my classes.

I walked down the stairs and out of the lecture room. While I was walking through the English wing, I heard my name being called, “Kodie, wait up!”

Stopping, I waited for whoever it was to catch up with me. “Are you busy right now?” a voice I recognized as Laura’s asked.

“Nope,” I shook my head. “Want to go the café?”

“Sounds good. I need a break before my next class,” Laura said.

We walked together out of the building and into the cool air. I could tell when we reached the café on the corner of the street because I could smell freshly baked bread. The door jingled as Laura and I entered and I let her lead me to an open booth.

“So, we haven’t talked in a while.” Laura said.

“I know, between music and school, my schedule’s been pretty busy.” I sighed. “But I love it.”

“Speaking of which, I saw that your single went to number one, congratulations!” Laura told me.

“Thanks,” I smiled. “You gave me really good ideas though and for that I thank you.”

“Eh, I did nothing.” Laura deflected my words.

“What can I get for you ladies?” the waitress asked.

“I’ll have a coffee and a bagel with butter,” Laura said.

“And I’d like a hot chocolate with whipped cream and a chocolate chip muffin,” I told her before hearing her footsteps recede. “How are your classes?” I asked Laura.

“As good as they can be; school is school, I suppose.” Laura answered.

I laughed, “I know the feeling.”

The waitress returned and placed our orders in front of us. I picked up my spoon and ate the cream off the top of the hot chocolate and listened as Laura talked about all the classes she was taking. From what she told me, it sounded like she was taking too many classes, but if anyone could manage, it would be her. “I don’t know how you keep up with everything,” I commented as I picked at my muffin.

“Hey, Kodie.” Harry’s voice said from above me.

“Hi, what are you doing here?” I asked as he nudged my shoulder and I scooted over to make room for him.

“Getting coffee. The boys are busy and I was bored so I came here.” He answered. “Who’s your friend?

“Harry, this is Laura; Laura, this is Harry.” I introduced them.

“Nice to meet you,” Harry said and I imagine he was sending her a charming smile.

“Likewise,” Laura replied.

The two of them talked with each other as I sat quietly and drank my hot chocolate. I texted Niall, to tell him that I wanted to take him to see a movie; he replied saying yes and that he would pick me up at five for dinner. “Well, this has been fun, but I’m going to leave you two alone.” I said to Laura and Harry. I received a small goodbye and I rolled my eyes; I guess they hit it off pretty well.

“Hey babe,” I gave Niall a quick kiss.

“Hello there,” he said. “Are you ready to go?”

I nodded and he clasped his hand around mine before walking towards the car. “Where are we going to eat?” I questioned.

“I thought we’d go Italian tonight,” Niall suggested.

“Sounds good to me,” I answered.

Niall and I talked on the way to the restaurant and while we ate, never having a lapse in conversation. I liked how the two of us could say nothing to each other and we would still enjoy the time spent with each other. Niall told me about how the tour was going and when they would be leaving England; according to him, he would be leaving April 11 for Scotland, which gave us less than a month before they’d be leaving. Sadly, I couldn’t travel with him because I was still in school and I’d still be recording music with Simon.

“So, what movie are you taking me to see?” Niall asked me as we walked into the theater.

“Mama,” I answered.

“Why? You hate horror movies,” Niall reminded me.

I smiled, “I know, but you love them.”

“That doesn’t mean you have to see one with me,” Niall told me, but I kept walking.

“Two tickets for Mama at 7:15,” I said when we had reached the ticket counter. Niall let go of my hand to get out his wallet, but I stopped his hand. “I’m paying for this.” I told him. He tried to protest, but I quickly pulled out my own money and handed it to the cashier.

“Kodie,” Niall whined. “The boyfriend is supposed to pay.”

I laughed at him, “There’s no law saying that the girlfriend can’t treat her boyfriend occasionally.” Niall began to protest, but I stopped him. “If it will repair your manhood, you can pay for the snacks.” I said.

“Yes, yes it will repair my manhood,” Niall said confidently. “What do you want?”

“Something with chocolate, please.” I said. “And can I have a cherry Icee?”

Niall placed my order and then ordered a large popcorn along with a blue raspberry flavored Icee. “Hey Kodes,” he said and I turned to him. “Later when our tongues are red and blue, do you want to make purple?” I slapped the back of his head as he laughed at my reddening cheeks. He handed me a box and a cup before linking arms and walking towards the theater.

The two of us sat down and listened to the previews before the music indicated the movie was about to start.

I tried focusing on my snacks, but every time the music played suddenly or someone screamed, I jumped about a foot in the air which Niall found extremely amusing. Halfway through the movie, the music startled so me so bad that I spilled my box of chocolates. As Niall tried his best not to laugh, I grumbled to myself, “I hate horror movies.”
