I know it's been a while, but writer's block. And it sucked. Plus, the plan I had for the end of the story, I've changed and now I really like it now so I'm excited to write.

Please let me know what you think of this chapter.

Love you all and thank you for being so patient and waiting for an update.

Kodie’s POV

“Hurry up!”

“I’m going as fast as I can.” I threw my hands in the air.

“Well, go faster.” Niall whined.

“If you would like to get off your lazy ass and help, I would appreciate that.” I snapped back. I understood why he was so excited and I was excited as well, but for the past hour all Niall had been doing was telling me to finish packing. Our flight was later this afternoon and even though there was plenty of time, Niall was acting like there was a fire under his butt.

“What do you need help with?” Niall asked.

“Can you grab me some pajamas and then my black heels?” I asked.

“Of course,” Niall gave me a hit and run kiss to the cheek before darting off to get what I asked him for. I had already packed most of my things; the next thing I needed to grab was my toiletries.

Niall and I were heading out a day earlier than the other boys so we could spend time with our families before Niall’s three days of concerts.

And Niall was absolutely buzzing.

Usually it was Louis who couldn’t stop moving, but lately Niall has been the one unable to sit still for more than five minutes at a time.

He was back at my side in under a minute before flopping back onto my bed. “You had two pairs of black heels; do you want to check to see if it’s the right pair?”

I shook my head, “Nope, black shoes are black shoes.”

Walking into the bathroom, I gathered the makeup and shower products I’d need and placed them into my travel bag.

I finished packing with little interruption from Niall and as almost as soon as I was done, he was throwing our bags into the car. We arrived at the airport a couple of hours early, so we stopped and took some pictures with the fans that were there.

I followed Niall as he took us to a restaurant to get lunch before leading us into a private room so we wouldn’t be mobbed.

We were sitting on a couch in the room; I was tucked into his side, as we discussed the upcoming concerts. “It’s just mental to think that we’ll be performing in Croke Park; like that was just a crazy dream I had as a kid.” Niall said.

“And now it’s coming true,” I finished.

“Yeah,” Niall breathed out, sounding completely dazed.

I smiled as I played with his hand; I pictured his eyes bright and a half smile across his face as he tries to wrap his head around the fact that he’s playing in the most renowned stadium in Ireland. Niall was humble like that; even though the band has had so much success, I don’t think it has sunk in for them just how far they’ve come.

Faintly, I heard our flight being called so I removed his arm from me and tugged on his hand to pull him to his feet. “Come on, super star.” I said. “We’re going to miss our flight if you don’t come back to reality.”

His lips pressed against my forehead and I let him lead me out of the room and onto the plane.

Hours later we landed in Ireland and made the trip to Mullingar, which seemed shorter than usual. When we pulled up to our houses, Niall said that he got a message saying that both families were at my house.

“Kodie!” I heard my mom yell at the same time I heard Niall’s mom shout his name.

Simultaneously, we were pulled into hugs by our mothers before I was pulled into the familiar arms of my father. “I’ve missed you, baby girl,” Dad said.

“I’ve missed you too, Dad.” I kissed his cheek.

All of us sat in our living room just talking and catching up on everything that has gone on in our lives. Niall was telling them what performing in South America was like and I talked about being back in the studio again. I was glad to be back with my family; I loved living on my own, but there’s nothing like being back in your childhood home.

“Kodie, your dad and I need to talk to you.” My mom said and I immediately began to worry.

Those were the words that make you rethink everything you have ever done wrong and I don’t know what I could have done seeing as I had only been home for two hours. “Okay,” I said slowly.

“Alone, Niall.” My mom said gently and I assumed Niall hadn’t made a move to leave the house.

“I’ll see you later, yeah?” Niall kissed me swiftly and I nodded.

I could hear the door close behind the Horan’s and I braced myself for something bad. “What did I do?” I asked.

Dad laughed, “You didn’t do anything.”

“That’s a relief,” I exhaled deeply. “But why the sudden serious attitudes?”

“Dr. Hill called us with some news.” Mom began.

“What kind of news?” I questioned.

“There is an operation that could be performed to restore your eyesight.” Dad stated. “It is a risky procedure and there are no guarantees that your sight will return. Some of your sight could come back, all of your sight could return and there’s a chance that nothing could change at all.”

I leaned back against the couch as I processed their words. “We wanted to tell you to give you another option, but the decision is entirely up to you.” Mom squeezed my knee.

“When did you guys find out about the operation?” I asked.

“A couple of weeks ago,” Mom answered.

“We wanted to do more research on the procedure and talk to other doctors to get their opinions.” My dad explained further.

I remained quiet as I thought about what my parents were telling me. On one hand I had the chance to get my eyesight back, but on the other nothing could change.

“We made an appointment for you to meet with Dr. Hill tomorrow afternoon if this is something you’re interested in.” My mom told me. I nodded silently and my mom grabbed my hand. “Are you alright sweetie?”

“Yeah, it’s just a lot to take in at the moment.” I explained my silence. “I’m going to go to bed. Is it alright if Niall stays the night?”

“Of course,” my mom replied.

“No funny business,” Dad piped up as I was on my way up the stairs and I just shook my head.

I texted Niall before changing into my pajamas and then I climbed into bed. Roughly five minutes later, my bedroom door opened and I felt Niall slip into the bed behind me. “Is everything okay?” Niall whispered.

“Yeah,” I whispered back. “Can I tell you about it tomorrow? I’m exhausted.”

“Of course. I love you.” Niall said into my ear.

“I love you too.” I kissed his hand.

I listened as Niall’s breathing evened out, falling into a deep sleep while I was wide awake. I don’t know what decision I was going to make, but either way it was going to change everything.
