Kodie’s POV

“Why do I have to start getting ready 4 hours before the party?”I moaned.

“Because I have to do your hair, makeup and nails and then I have to do mine,” Rose explained with a sigh. “Now go take a shower, I have to make you look irresistible for Niall.”

My cheeks heated up and I walked into my bathroom and turned the water on. I stepped into the hot stream of water and washed my hair with my favorite coconut scented shampoo. Then I made sure I was squeaky clean before I shaved my legs, very carefully, I might add. Shaving without seeing was a dangerous feat; I had cut myself on multiple occasions before I had learned to avoid it.

I wrapped a towel around my body and hair before walking back into my room. Rose was in my room and by the sounds I heard, she was setting up all the tools she needed to make us glamorous. I sat on my bed and waited for Rose to tell me what to do. She had made it very clear to me not to do anything without her permission or else she would kill me.

“Alright, you’re going to get dressed and then I’ll curl your hair and give you a mani-pedi,” Rose told me.

I nodded and slipped on my underwear and a backless bra that had a halter strap. Apparently I was wearing a halter dress and Rose found this bra especially for this dress. Rose helped me into the dress and tied the halter for me and then she tied a smaller string that crossed the middle of my back.

When she finished tying the strings I twirled; the front of the dress came up to mid-thigh on my left leg and then slanted down to meet my right ankle. I smoothed it down and felt a patter under my fingers. “It’s back with a silver sparkle design,” Rose explained. “And it looks even better than I thought it would.”

“But why do I feel a draft on my back?” I reached behind me to feel the back of my dress, but I only felt skin.

“Probably because it’s backless,” Rose explained.

“Why’d you get me a backless dress?” I shouted. My back was bare from my shoulders to the small of my back; the only thing on my back was the thin string holding the sides of the dress to my body.

“Don’t freak out, you look hot; I’d hit that.” Rose joked. “Now sit down so I can do your hair.”

I obeyed her orders and sat on the chair in front of the mirror in my room. Rose separated my hair, pulling the top half away from the bottom and pinning it out of the way. I could feel the heat from the iron as she began curling my hair.

We listened to music as she continued curling my hair; once she was finished she ran her fingers, loosening the curls. Rose smoothed the right side of my hair to my head and pinned the hair to the back of my head. She then pulled my hair over my left shoulder, letting the curls fall naturally. Next, Rose moved to my makeup; she put on a light layer of foundation before painting my lips with a red lip stain. “Alright, we’re almost done.” Rose said. “I’ll paint your nails and I’ll do my hair as they dry.”

“Sounds good to me,” I answered. Soon enough, Wings by Little Mix came through my speakers and I got up to dance.

“Don’t ruin your hair,” Rose scolded.

I stuck my tongue out and continued dancing, admittedly less spastically than before. “I don’t hear no one saying hey, hey, hey, hey. I don’t hear no one saying hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!” I sang.

“You’re such a freak,” Rose laughed. “Now sit.” I did as she said and she painted my nails in an ombre red design. “And now your shoes are a silver color that matches your dress.”

She slipped them onto my feet and I stood up, “I feel like Cinderella.”

The doorbell rang and Rose squealed, “I am so excited for this party.” I shook my head at her; she was excited and I was beyond nervous. She opened the door and gasped, “Niall, you look so handsome.”

“Thank you. You ladies look amazing as well.” Niall said. “Can I escort you to the limo?”

“Yes you may,” I answered and he linked arms with Rose on one side and me on the other. I heard the car door open and Rose climbed in before me.

“Well, well, well, you ladies look lovely.” I heard Harry say.

“Damn, you both look better than I do,” Perrie said.

I laughed, “I highly doubt that. I wish I could see what you’re wearing, but you all look amazing.” I told them and I was sure they looked beautiful. Eleanor and Perrie always looked perfect, no matter what they wore.

The nine of us talked and laughed on the ride to the party. Perrie talked about how Little Mix was doing, they were doing really well, and Eleanor and I talked about Uni.

Too soon the limo stopped and we all piled out of the limo onto the curb; Niall grasped my hand and pulled me in the direction of the door. “Don’t worry, there’s nothing to be scared about,” he said and squeezed my hand. I nodded, not really believing him, and allowed him to pull me into the room.

“Good evening Kodie, how are you?” I heard Simon ask me.

“I’m doing fine thank you, just a bit nervous.” I admitted.

“Don’t worry and you look beautiful, by the way.” Simon said.

I smiled, “Thanks.”

Niall pulled me away from Simon and led me towards the food table. “I’m starving,” he said.

“When are you not?” I asked.

He was going to answer me, but another voice answered for him. “This Irish lad is always hungry, but I’m sure you already know that.” The man said.

“Oh shut up Ed. A growing boy needs food.” Niall quipped. My mouth fell into an ‘O’ as I realized the guy talking to Niall was Ed Sheeran.

“I’m Ed and you must me Kodie,” he introduced himself. I opened my mouth to answer, but nothing came out. “I’ve seen your videos; you have a very unique voice,” Ed complimented me. “Plus, Niall talks about you all of the time.”

I blushed; not only was I just complimented by the one and only Ed Sheeran, but Niall talked about me. This is crazy. “Thank you,” I said.

“No need to thank me; you really have an amazing voice,” Ed told me.

“I-I love your music,” I blurted out; Ed and Niall laughed as I slapped my hand over my mouth. “I’m sorry, I’m a huge fan.”

Ed laughed, “I’m a fan of you too.”

That caught me so off guard that I couldn’t answer him. I usually can control myself when I meet celebrities, but Ed saying that he was a fan of me was insanity. “I think you’ve stunned her,” Niall joked. “If you need us, we’ll be on the dance floor.”

Niall tugged me towards the floor and spun me to face him. Crush by David Archuleta was playing, which happened to be one of my favorite songs, and Niall placed one of his hands on my lower bare back and the other grasped my hand. A small gasp left me as his cool fingers traced over my now searing skin; his fingers lightly gripped my back, his hand resting on the curve right above my butt.

Niall, oblivious to my predicament, slowly twirled us in a circle, moving to the beat of the music. I was trying to keep my distance, but Niall had other ideas. He pulled me closer to him so we were chest to chest and he rested his chin on my head. I relaxed into his embrace and listened to the music surrounding the two of us.

Why do I keep running from the truth?

All I ever think about is you,

You’ve got me hypnotized, so mesmerized

And I’ve just got to know

Do you ever think, when you’re all alone, all that we could be?

Where this thing could go?

Am I crazy or falling in love?

Is this real or just another crush?

Do you catch a breath when I look at you?

Are you holding back like the way I do?

‘Cause I’m trying, trying to walk away,

But I know this crush ain’t going away

Going away

I sighed, thinking of how this song described how I felt. I couldn’t deny it anymore; I had a crush on Niall and I was falling for him.

Hard.

I just wished that he felt the same way I did, but I know that would never happen. He was Niall Horan from One Direction; he had girls fawning over him all around the world. Why would he want to date someone like me when he could be dating a model?

Once the song finished, the microphone crackled and Simon’s amplified came through the speakers.

“Thank you all for coming to celebrate our newest artist, Kodie Marie.” He paused for the clapping that could be heard and I tried to hide my face in embarrassment. “Kodie started posting her cover videos on YouTube and has gained countless followers each of whom praised her talent.” I blushed even more. “The second I heard her sing, I knew she had the makings of a star. I signed her instantly and ever since then she has blown away every expectation I had. Kodie works as hard as any other artist I have worked with and it has been my honor to work with her. It is my pleasure to introduce the girl here to perform her first single and her newest song, Kodie Marie!”

There was a thunderous amount of clapping as Niall guided me to the stage. I carefully walked up, making sure not to trip and made my way to the microphone. “Hello everybody, thank you for coming tonight, it means a lot to me and I’m really excited to be singing two of my songs for you. This first one is called Goodbye, I hope you like it.”

I sang the song and finished to even more clapping. “If it wasn’t for Dan,” I gestured to my right, where he was standing. “And for Niall, I wouldn’t have begun to play the guitar again. And if I hadn’t begun playing, I wouldn’t have written this song, so this is dedicated to Niall and Dan.” Dan handed me my guitar that had been brought here earlier and I lifted the strap over my shoulder.

I began strumming the chords before beginning to sing.

According to you

I’m stupid, I’m useless,

I can’t do anything right.

According to you

I’m difficult, hard to please, forever changing my mind.

I’m a mess in a dress, can’t show up on time, even if it would save my life.

According to you, according to you.

But according to him

I’m beautiful, incredible; he can’t get me out of his head.

According to him

I’m funny, irresistible; everything he ever wanted.

Everything is opposite, I don’t feel like stopping it so baby tell me what I got to lose.

He’s into me for everything I’m not,

According to you.

Before I began the second verse, I heard wolf whistles coming from, who I guessed, was either Rose or Louis.

According to you

I’m boring, I’m moody; you can’t take any place.

According to you

I suck at telling jokes cause I always give it away.

I’m the girl with the worst attention span;

You’re the boy who puts up with that.

According to you, according to you.

I quickly plucked the notes before beginning the chorus.

But according to him

I’m beautiful, incredible; he can’t get me out of his head.

According to him

I’m funny, irresistible; everything he ever wanted.

Everything is opposite, I don’t feel like stopping it so baby tell me what I got to lose.

He’s into me for everything I’m not,

According to you.

I need to feel appreciated,

Like I’m not hated. Oh…no…

Why can’t you see me through his eyes?

It’s too bad your making me decide.

Now came the part I was worried I would mess up. The sequence I picked moved really fast and even though I had practiced it too many times to count, there was still a possibility that I could mess it up.

According to me

You’re stupid, you’re useless; you can’t do anything right.

According to you, oh yeah.

According to you, oh yeah.

I stopped playing the guitar and grabbed the microphone.

According to you

I’m stupid, I’m useless; I can’t do anything right.

I grinned as the clapping was even louder after this song then it was after I sang Goodbye. A hand clasped my shoulder. “Isn’t she amazing?” Simon asked and I heard more whistles which I was almost positive were coming from Louis; that sassy boy. “Let’s enjoy the rest of the night, celebrating this wonderful, young singer.”

Simon held my elbow and helped me off the stage. Not even moments after my feet had touched the floor, I was tackled into a hug from all sides.

“I loved your new song,” Eleanor gushed after pulling me into a hug.

“I think we all agree that it was amazing, especially your guitar playing.” Liam said. “I’ve been practicing for years and I’m nowhere near your skill level.”

“Thank you,” I hugged each of them individually. “I really appreciate you all coming tonight to support me; it means a lot.”

“We wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Niall said, which made my heart flutter. “Oh look! They’re serving dinner!”

“Good, I’m hungry.” I said and they laughed as my stomach growled.

~`~`~`~`~`~`

“Bye! Again, thanks for coming!” I waved to Zayn and Perrie as they got out of the limo. Rose was spending the night at a friend’s house; the rest of our group had already been dropped off and now it was only Niall and I sitting in the car.

“Did you have a good time tonight?” Niall asked.

I nodded, “Yes, it was amazing.”

“I really liked your new song,” Niall leaned closer to me so his arm lightly brushed against mine. “Did it have anything to do with your first boyfriend?”

“Yeah, how do you remember him?” I asked.

“That kid was an ass and he said that you weren’t good enough; how could I forget that? I don’t think I ever talked to him after that.” Niall said thoughtfully as the car pulled to a stop. He took my hand and we walked up to my flat. “Do you like your dress?” he asked.

“Yes, it’s beautiful; a bit bare, but it’s nice.” I answered.

We came to a halt and I assumed we had reached my flat. “You look beautiful,” Niall said and I felt like he came closer to me. “Do you want to know what my favorite part of tonight was?” he questioned.

“What?” I asked.

Niall placed his hands under my arms and slid to my back. I felt Niall’s breath against my neck as he began tracing circles on my exposed back. “Seeing you in that dress,” Niall whispered in my ear, in a low voice. My breath caught in my throat as his fingers sent electric bolts up my back.

“Niall…w-what are you--,” I began, but he cut me off.

“Rose told me something interesting today,” Niall whispered. “You know what she said?” I shook my head, not being able form proper words. “She told me that you have feelings for me.” I froze. “I don’t know if that’s true, but before you can deny it, I want to do something.”

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion; what was he talking about? The questions swirling through my head vanished as I sensed Niall coming closer to me; his close proximity to me made my breath hitch. I could feel his breath fan across my face and my heart rate increased so much, I thought it was going to leap out of my chest. Then he did what I never expected him to do.

Niall gently pressed his lips against mine.
