Blinded By You

6 months ago, I lost my eyesight. But life goes on, I attend university in London and one of my best friend's is Niall Horan, from One Direction. But he doesn't know I'm blind. Will he hate me when I tell him? Will he treat me the same? Will I fall for one of his bandmates...

17. Eating & Pleading

Niall’s POV

After Harry gave Kodie a couple more pancakes she was satisfied; I taught her so well, I deserve a pat on the back.

“Can someone pass the syrup?” Kodie asked. She held out her hand and Liam placed the bottle in her hand. “Thanks Li.” How did she know it was Liam that passed it to her? Kodie was seriously amazing me, I don’t understand how she knows what’s going on around her without seeing it.

Trying to think this early was making my head hurt, so I focused on the food that was in front of me. But before I put a piece of pancake in my mouth, I was distracted by Kodie again. She was feeling for the edges of the plate with one hand and with the other she was pouring the syrup onto the plate. What was really interesting was that with the hand on the plate, she stopped the bottle before the syrup would’ve fallen off of the plate.

I looked at the others and they were watching her too. I had been expecting her to ask someone for help, but now I realize that was really a stupid thought. For as long as I had known her, Kodie had been independent. She only asked for help once before she learned how to do it herself.

But I guess I thought she would ask for more help being blind and yet again she surprises me. She continued her system and covered the pancakes with syrup before putting the bottle down and grabbing a fork and knife to cut her pancakes.

“Niall, stop looking at me. I still know how to feed myself,” Kodie reprimanded me.

“How did—“ I began but she cut me off.

“You’re right next to me, I can feel you breathing on my neck.” She said.

“Oh, sorry.” I said sheepishly and the boys cracked up at my expression.

“Eh, don’t worry about it,” she told me before going back to eating. I did the same thing, but I had to lean to the left because she was still on my lap. But I was still watching her out of the corner of my eye. I don’t know why, but the way she was doing everything normally was interesting to me and I couldn’t look away.

I finished my food before everyone else and waited for Kodie to finish before I got up. “I’m going upstairs to get changed,” I said before grabbing her waist and lifting her off of my lap.

“Speaking of which…” Kodie said, turning towards me while crossing her arms over her chest.

“What?”

“Did it ever occur to you to tell the blind person that there are STAIRS in your flat?!” She asked me, her voice raising towards the end of her sentence.

My mouth dropped open. Oh shit, that never even crossed my mind. “Kodie, I am so sorry.”

“It’s alright, but if Liam hadn’t been coming up the stairs at the same time I was about to go rolling down, I would’ve beaten you awake.” She declared.

“I’ll give you a free punch right now,” I said and she laughed.

“No that’s okay. I’ll get you back, maybe not today, but someday,” she said and turned to talk to Zayn and Perrie. I swallowed; she was pretty good at getting back at people. I had witnessed it before and considered myself lucky that it had never been me.

Well, then. I went upstairs to get ready for the day. I managed to take a 15 minute shower before getting out and dressing in a hoodie and jeans. I went back downstairs and found the boys on the couch watching TV with the girls talking on another couch.

Their conversation seemed very one sided with Kodie against Perrie and Eleanor. As I walked further into the room, I heard Kodie was repeatedly telling them “No”.

I sat down next to Harry and tried to watch TV, but the girls were getting louder and louder.

“Please, we already said that you’d go,” Perrie said.

“Well, that’s not my fault. You should’ve asked before you said I would,” Kodie retorted.

“Come on, it won’t be that bad. I’m sure you’ll have fun and even want to do it again,” Eleanor stated, but Kodie just shook her head.

I turned to the lads, “What are they talking about?”

“Our girlfriends are trying to get her to go on that date with the waiter,” Louis explained and I frowned. I don’t like the idea of her going out with him. Not that he seemed like a bad guy, I just thought it was weird that his best way to get girls was to randomly give them his number.

“Please,”

“No.”

“Pretty please.”

“No.”

“Pretty, pretty please.”

“No way.”

“Please.”

“No.”

"Come on."

"No."

"Pretty please with sugar on top?"

"I said no, damn it."

“Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please,”

Eleanor and Perrie should really give up; Kodie had a stubborn streak a mile wide.

“ALRIGHT! Now will you shut up, I’m getting a headache,” Kodie finally agreed.

Never mind.

El and Perrie high fived each other before turning back to Kodie. “It’s already 3 o’clock. You’ve got to get ready, the date is at 5.” El shouted before grabbing Kodie’s hand and dragging her out of the room.

“Boys, help me! Please!” Kodie yelled.

“No can do sweet cheeks,” Harry said.

“Now go get all dolled up for your date.” Louis said before making kissing noises, causing Kodie to flip him off and the rest of us to laugh.
