The Trojan Queen

Persaius was born to be queen, she was also born into revenge and war. Since the day her parents died she has been trained to be the best queen in the history of the monarchy, when she gets kidnapped by the Greeks things change for Persaius and she no longer truly knows where her alliance lays.

10. Finding her highness

When I woke later that night it wasn’t Achilles I find to alert me awake, but a small glow in the corner of the tent, a fire! I jump out of bed quickly and throw on my dress, when I turn to get Achilles I see that he isn’t there. I run to the front of the tent but a small flame jumps out at me and I scrambled back. A scream erupted from all around but I didn’t realise until it stopped that it had been mine. The flames are soon engulfing the tent and I'm choking on smoke. For all its worth I let out one more ear piercing scream, I doubt anyone could hear me over all the flames.

“Persaius, someone put those flames out!” I could hear Achilles yell outside the tent and hope flared within me. I let out another scream as someone grabbed me and pulled me out of a part of the tent that was somehow not burning.  I struggled against the iron gripped and turned enough to see that a Trojan warrior dragging me away from the Greek camp, I saw it was my friend Arabinak. I flew into his arms and he held me close then called over his shoulder.

“It’s Persaius; we found her, get her horse.” He said and then looked down at me, I was covered in ash. Fear flashed in Arabinak’s eyes as he looked back at the tent fire, so he finally understood he had almost killed me. I could tell he was about to say something but just then calypso came running towards me and she nuzzled me with her nose. Arabinak helped me onto calypso’s back and then climbed onto his own stead, as we began to ride away from the camp I couldn’t help but glance back at the burning tent, he would never find me. Achilles would search but I would be gone, he felt gone now and I didn’t want to admit how that hurt my heart. As we reached the great walls of troy I heard the men talking about where they had found me, let them call me a traitor if they wish, I was home and I wasn’t happy about it.
