The Witch- Observer

This is my entry for the Twilight comp. Cassidy Knightly was a witch. She had observed the Cullen family for Ten years, living together the perfect family. She has always loved Jacob Black, betrothed to Renesmee Cullen, but still watches from a distance, knowing it would be best. But when an intervention of fate brings Jacob and Cassidy together will she be able to leave him again? Check this out, I'd be very grateful ;)

3. Recognition

I had led them to my car then driven to my flat in the town of Forks. Inside, Renesmee lay in the spare bedroom on the table. Potions lay everywhere, it was my lab and in a tip. Jake sat, grief-stricken, at the table clutching Nessie's hand.

I swore as I accidently added a wrong ingredient  What harm could it do? Even being around a while, I was a bit of an amateur witch. Good at compulsion, and spells, but terrible at potions. I had had to get a friend of mine to make the ageing potion. But I had no time to call in any help, Renesmee's disease worked fast. Without my help, she'd be dead in an hour.

I finished stirring, then left it to cool. It would take only five minutes to cool, plenty of time to save her. It did occur to me that here I was, saving Jacob's love, even though I was in love with him. Oh, the irony.

The compulsion was wearing off Jacob. I was about to "reapply"  it when he said something that stopped me in my tracks. He whispered a name questioningly.

My old name. He recognised me.

"Jacob Black." I replied with a small smile. Then back to business  "Renesmee's going to be okay. She has a disease some unfortunate vampires are prone to. It's rumoured half vampires are more prone, but we can't really test this. But anyway, I'm giving her a potion that will work to cure her disease. She's gonna be iffy for a few days, but she will be back on her feet in about a week."

"Huh?" Jacob was confused. "Thanks for.... whatever you did. But how? Why?"

"Jake. You may or may not believe me. But I'm a witch. They do exist, though they keep their existence hidden." I replied. "I will feed her a simple potion. It will do the trick."

I went to the other table and grabbed the now-cooled potion. I went over to Nessie and Jake again.

"Help me, Jake. Hold up her head."

He did so with a confused stare on his gorgeous tanned face.

I fed Nessie the potion. I watched the potion work its magic. I smiled as her face, which was originally creased lines, smoothed out. Jacob gaped at the magic that was showing.

"Impossible..." He breathed.

"We should let her rest now." I said with a smile.

I took Jake's hand and led him to the kitchen-living room hybrid. I sat him down on the sofa at the coffee table.

"Tea? Coffee?" I offered.

"Um... coffee." He replied. I popped the kettle on.

I put the coffee down in front of him, took a sip out of mine, and plopped down beside him."

He stared at me.

"So.... a witch, huh?" He said with a smile. He had finally digested the information.

"Yeah. I can pretty much do anything." I smiled.

"So how long?" He questioned.

"For my whole life."

"Whoa. And I never knew?"

"So... how did you stay your age? I mean, you look quite young for the amount of years it's been."

"Yeah. I took an anti-ageing potion."

He smiled at this. I suddenly realised how close we were.

"Evelyn. Eve. I've missed you," He breathed.

"I go by the name Cassidy now, Jakey. People would get suspicious if I kept my name."

"Cassidy. Cass. The name suits you.... very sexy."

I raised my eyebrows at his flirtatious tone. Here we were, sitting and flirting together, while his betrothed was in the next room recovering from a near death experience. It was weird, it was like Jake had forgotten about her for a moment. It couldn't last too long though.

He hesitantly lifted his hand to my face and stroked my cheek  I leaned into his touch. He brought his face to mine and kissed me on the lips. I responded gladly when his tongue entered my mouth.

I broke away suddenly. What had I just done?!
