Mute **ON HOLD**

Apryl has never spoken a word ever since her family died in a tragic house fire. Will One Direction's loudest member get her to talk?

11. I'm not doing it.

Apryl's POV

Matt comes home today!! He has to take a lot of pain medication and he can't go back to work for a while, but he's getting better. He had to stay in the hospital for another two days after he had woken up, just to make sure everything was okay. I'm so relieved everything turned out fine. I can't risk loosing another important person in my life. Anyways, Amanda is calling me, I'll write more later.

I quickly shoved my diary under my pillow and put the pen back into my desk drawer before sprinting down the stairs into the kitchen.

"Apryl! I have some news for you, I don't know if you're going to like it though." She began as she motioned for me to sit next to her at the table. I raised my eyebrows urging her to go on. "I need you to stay home from school for about two weeks. Matt won't be able to get around very well, he's not supposed to be walking at all. Not for another week or so, so i'm going to need you to take care of him."

My eyes widened and I smiled. No school? For two whole weeks!? No more torturing! No more teasing! Or at least it's a break from it. I nodded looking around for my white board. Crap, I left it upstairs. I jumped up and hugged her. She awkwardly patted my back, hugging me.

"Why so excited? I thought you would be disappointed to leave school?" She asked confused. I shurgged. She has no idea what happens there...

"Don't you like school?" She asked. I shrugged. Amanda smiled slightly. "I know, I know. It's school. You learn. It's not fun." She chuckled rolling her eyes. I actually think I would like school, if it wasn't for the bullying. I smiled and nodded before skipping out of the kitchen, through the living room, and out the door. I ran my fingers through my long, dark hair as I walked along the path in the woods.

Once I saw the big orange and pink rock, I knew I was almost there. You see, when Harry and I were little, we found this big rock in the woods and wanted to paint it. Though we couldn't decide on which color to paint it. I wanted pink-being the girly girl I am- and he wanted orange, his favorite color. We couldn't pick, and fought over it for along time. We ended up getting into a huge paint fight and splattered the entire rock with orange and pink paint.

I walkd for a little while longer until I came to a big tree in the middle of the forest. I smiled to myself as I climbed up the ladder, and into the tree house. This was where Harry and I used to come all the time. We did everything here, I actually talked here.

Harry's POV

The lads and I were visiting my hometown for a while. We were staying in my mum's flat for a few days before we went back to my step-dad's bungalow for a little while. Mangement wanted us to take a break before the 2013 tour, so we thought, 'why not go to the place we first bonded?'

So here we are, in Cheshire. I wonder whatever happened to Apryl. She was my best friend. Does she still live around here? Her house was only a block away from mine. I'll have to stop by and see her again.

I wonder if our tree house is still there? "Hey guys? Do you want to come check something out with me?" I asked the lads. We were seated in my living room, playing Mario Kart on the Wii. Liam paused the game to look at me, along with the rest of the boys. "Sure. What is it?" He asked. "It's a place I used to go with my friend, Apryl." I smiled.

They all rolled their eyes at the mention of Apryl. Apparently, I talk about her a lot. "Are you sure you don't have a crush on her?" Niall asked cheekily. I rolled my eyes. She's my best friend. Nothing more. When we were younger, i'm pretty sure I had a small crush on her, but that's passed.

"Apryl is my best friend, nothing more." I told them. "I don't fancy her like that."

"Whatever you say Haz." Liam said as they stood up getting ready to leave. For September, it was awfuly cold outside. I had always hated the cold, but I remembred Apryl loved it. She loved the crisp winter air, white snow, and hot chocoate. I smiled reminiscing our snowball fights, snow angels, and all the fun times Apryl and I had in the snow.

I missed her, so much. It was indescribable how much Apryl meant to me, and she was one of the hardest things for me to leave behind when I went to X-Factor. I was so scared that she would have nobody to talk to, or to proect her. I didn't want anything to happen to her.

We shrugged our coats on before heading out the door and through the woods. I smiled as we passed our orange and pink rock, remembering our bickering about which color to paint it."We painted this." I chuckled running my fingers over the rock. The boys all gave me weird stares, so I started to explain.

"Apryl had gotten a new paint set and we wanted to try it out, though her favorite color was pink and mine was orange and we couldn't decide what color to paint it. We got into a huge paint war and ended up painting ourselves along with the rock." I chuckled at the memory. The boys laughed and nodded as we continued walking through the forest.

"It should be right up here." I said as I saw the tall tree with a tree house set on the branches come into view. It had a long ladder falling from the opening and it was pretty big, most of it was covered by branches.

I smiled quickening my pace out of excitement. I hadn't been here since before I left for X-Factor. It was Apryl and I's favorite place to go. We went here all the time, it was like our secret place. No one else knew where it was. None of our families, (Except my step-dad, Robin, since he built it. But he's been sworn to secrecy.) none of our friends or anyone else. Just us.

I wonder if she still comes up here...

I climbed up the ladder a huge grin spreading across my face. I pulled my self up onto the platform and gasped.

"Apryl." I breathed. Her eyes widened and she hopped up from her position in the corner. Her expression turned from surprised to excitment and happiness in seconds. A grin broke out on my face and I jumped up into the treehouse. "Apryl!" I exclaimed smiling widely as I pulled her into a hug. "I missed you so much." I whispered into her hair.

I felt her smile into my shoulder as she hugged me tighter. I pulled back a bit to get a better look at the girl I've known for so long, she looks so different.

"You look so different." I stated picking up a strand of her dark hair ad twirling it around my finger. "Your hair got long." She smiled and nodded. But she didn't say a word. Has she seriously not said a word to anyone in two years??

"Apryl..." I narrowed my eyes at her dropping the piece of hair to fall back on to her shoulder. She knew exactly what I was hinting at and looked down. "Have you talked? At all?" She bit her lip and looked up at me. Slowly, she shook her head. I sighed.

"I thought you said you would try!" She looked around the tree house her eyes landing on her white board sitting next to where she was originally. She bent down and picked it up along with the expo marker on top of it.

I tried. I tried talking to Amanda a few days after you left for X-Factor but nothing came out.

I sighed and nodded. "Are you still comfortable talking to me?" I asked softly, biting my lip. She used to talk to me about everything. I don't want that to change.

She smiled and nodded. Then I remembered the boys. I turned to the entrance and saw them leaning against the tree talking. "You guys can come up here." I chuckled.

Apryl's POV

He brought his friends? My eyes widened as the started to climb up. My jaw immediatly locked and I started twiriling a strand of my auburn hair, something I tend to do when I'm nervous. "Loosen up Apryl, they won't hurt you." Harry chuckled wrapping his arm around my waist.

I smiled slightly while the boys hopped up into the treehouse. "Apryl, these are my bandmates, Liam, Niall, Zayn and Louis." He said pointing to them as they appeared. "Boys, this is my best friend Apryl."

I smiled and waved shyly. "Don't be shy love." Louis smiled. "We don't bite." He chuckled. I smiled at his attempt to get me to open up. I guess they don't know. I'm surprised Harry left that out.

"We've heard so much about you." Niall smiled. "Harry never shuts up." I smiled looking up at a blushing Harry. Wow, i've never really seen him blush before.

I smiled poking his cheek causing him to blush more. "Okay, that's enough embarrassing Harry." He mumbled pushing my hand away.

I smiled and almost let out a laugh, potentially forgetting the other boys standing there, but I bit my lip to keep quiet. I don't really know why i'm so scared to talk. I used to talk to Harry all the time. He's here now, but I guess with the other boys here, i'm scraed again.

"Maybe you can practice talking to them." Harry whispered to me. I looked up at him, then to the boys standing across from me, then back to Harry. I bit my lip and shook my head. I couldn't do it. I couldn't find my voice. I've tried before and it doesn't work. I want to talk, but I just can't.

"Come on!" He whined. "Please, just try?" He pleaded. I shook my head.

I'm not doing it.

A/N: Hey guys! Sorry it's been taking so long to update, and i'm so sorry this chapter is so short. I'll try to update again tonight. I have one question for you though. Do you think I should make it a love triangle between Harry and Louis, or make sure Harry doesn't have feelings for Apryl. Comment and tell me what you would like:) Thanks for reading, commenting and favoriting:)
