The Things You Never Know You Saw

A young couple, Alan and Crystal Heart, were recently married and went on the honeymoon of their dreams. Their seemingly wonderful vacation turns much worse when they unknowingly witness something they were never meant to see....

10. Cleanliness is Next to Godliness

I woke screaming, fists clenched tight, heart still pounding. Eyes wide open, I turned and looked at the worried Alan, looking up at me. He was alive. It was all a dream. I moved quickly into a hug a with him, holding on tight, as though he may disappear.
"Crystal, you were screaming; what's wrong?", he said, voice full of concern.
"I had a bad dream. That's all. Just, please don't move, ok?", I whispered, tears trickling down my face.
"Shhh, it's ok now baby. I'm here. It's ok", he cooed, stroking my hair and holding me tight; I didn't want to let go.
I was a sweaty mess; I had drenched myself in my sleep. I held Alan all the way to the shower. Then, I let him go so he could watch the news while I took a shower. "I'm making breakfast today", I thought to myself.
I turned the faucet, letting the water warm up. I undressed into my robe, while the water kept running; brushed my hair to make it easier to wash. When I was looking in the mirror, the tub made a weird noise. I looked towards it in confusion, and it looked as though something was blocking the water. Curiosity taking over, I walked to the faucet and taped it a couple times, thinking it would unclog. At first it ran correctly, but then it stopped and shot blood out of it like water. I jumped away from the edge of the shower screaming, and huddled myself in the corner. It continued to fill itself with the blood.
"Alan!! Help!", I screamed in desperation. I pulled myself into a tighter ball, burying my face in my knees.
"What is it? What's going on? What's the matter?", Alan said, bursting into the bathroom.
"Th-th-th-the bath tub! It's filling with blood!", I whimpered in response. I lifted my head and dared to look back at the tub, which was now filling with water instead.
"Um, Crystal? Are you taking something?"
"No! I'm not crazy! It was filling with blood! I saw it with my own eyes!", I shrieked in desperation. I'm not crazy, am I?
"I don't doubt that you saw it, I'm just telling you what I'm seeing now. There's no blood. Now, how about I sit in here with you while you take your shower, so you're not as frightened. Is that alright with you?"
"Ya, that's fine", I grumbled in defeat. "There's no way he's going to believe me, is there?", I thought to myself.
I removed my robe and walked into the shower, checking the faucet for any sign of blood. Nothing. Maybe I was going crazy. Nevertheless, I cleaned myself, hoping that the water wouldn't decide to turn to blood while I did so.
