Man Down

'Through all the mayhem and madness of central station I had still managed to hit my target.
He was finally down.
Justin Bieber was finished forever.
I was the girl who killed the Justin Bieber, I was the girl who took his heart when I pulled out my gun.
It was me; Brooke Olivia James.'

Only three years after Justin got into the wrong business, has it come back to bite him.

24. Twenty Three

Brooke’s P.O.V;

I took a deep breath, placing my hand on the handle. I pulled it down and slipped into the door quietly looking around.

No one.

Not even Justin was in the living room.

I sighed nervously making my way through to the kitchen.

I heard muffled groans and I opened the door to see Justin being held by ropes and men.

Men I recognised.

Men I worked with.

Jade Asgills’ thugs.

“Well well well, how’s my captivated employee?” her voice rang through the kitchen.

“Jade?” my head shot round to where she was standing.

Jordan by her side.

“Brooke, I’ve missed you. I thought you’d ran away until I got your house searched then worry hung over my head as I continually thought of you being hurt by your kidnappers and then I find you’ve just been fraternising with your enemy?” She spat bitterly.

I shrugged staring her out “What can I say? I fall for the bad guys, eh Jordan?” I glared at him “What are you doing with them? I was hoping at least one of us would be a good example to Jake”

His eyes looked down towards the floor and he nodded “I didn’t want this to happen.” He replied quietly.

“It’s true, he didn’t want to help me but you know me Brooke, Never take no for an answer. It’s really all down to Justin’s friend Craig, he lead us here.” Jade smirked at Justin.

“I mean without that idiot going to clean up the mess the other idiots made at your place I’d have had less to go on” she explained.

“Craig made the mess” I stated with no emotion. “What do you want then Jade?” I asked boredom taking over.

She nodded and two more thugs grabbed hold of Jordan pinning him to the wall next to Justin.

“Well you see Brooke, you didn’t finish your job did you now?” She asked perplexed.

I shot her a look as if to say go on and she smirked, glancing towards Justin again.

“No” I said abruptly in monotone.

“You will kill him Brooke, either that or Jordan considering he knows way to much. Besides they’re both gonna die because whichever you don’t end will meet their match with these guys” she gestured to the big men towering around the kitchen.

I shook my head glaring at her “No, I won’t kill either of them”

“You will, or else I’ll make you watch them die, Jake and all then I’ll finish you off myself.” She replied bitterly “It’s a sad day when I have to kill my prised employee and her 3 year old son”

“You wouldn’t DARE touch Jake” I hissed lunging towards her.

I was dragged back violently by another of the mean men I usually completed missions with.

“Listen to me you insolent little brat, I’ve raised you as my own for over 6 years and this is how you repay me?!” Jade raised her voice. “You would have thought that you’d have more gratitude!”

I shook my head trying to break free of the tightening grip I was under.

“I don’t owe you anything, you took my life away from me” I growled back.

Her sickening chuckle broke through the kitchen and ran up my spine causing me to feel instantly nauseous.

“That’s what your mother and father were about to say too before I had them slaughtered like the pigs they were” she replied confidently.

“You killed my parents?” I whispered my whole body trembling as I remembered the last time I saw them.

I was 10 years old and it had been 2 years before Jade took me in.

I was running home from what I used to know as school to see them both.

As I reached my garden they were both waiting for me, smiling wide.

“Brookey!” my father called gripping me in a tight hug.

“Daddy” I replied hugging back.

He let me down and my mother held me in her arms “How was your day?” she asked sweetly.

“It was good momma, I missed you both though” I said as she propped me back down again.

“Well we’re glad you’re back home, but we’re both working late tonight so Ellie Smith from three doors down is gonna be taking care you. Is that okay?” she said kneeling down in front of me.

I groaned shaking my head and she chuckled lightly.

“You behave now okay? I love you sweety always remember that” she whispered kissing my forehead and holding me close again for what seemed like an eternity.

Next it was my fathers turn, he wrapped his arms around me again and lifted me up twirling me round above his head.

“Hunni we will love you forever, no matter where we are” he choked out tears pricking in his eyes.

“Daddy don’t cry” I laughed “Only silly people cry”

He nodded “Yes, Only silly people cry. I’m sorry sweetie” he whispered setting me down once again.

They had both left that day and never came back at night.

Ellie Smith, my neighbour who was babysitting, received a call that my parents had been taken into the hospital and it looked as though they both weren’t going to make it.

She had to break the news to me and it was the hardest night of my entire life.

Warm tears rolled down my cheeks and I didn’t realise until now I’d been crying.

“Don’t cry Brooke” I whispered to myself “Only silly people cry” I continued as more floods of tears streamed down my cheeks at my last memory.
