Take Care

**Sequel to What Humans Do**
It's been seven years since the day I told Harry Styles we had to break up because our publicity stunt was now over. He told me to wait till I was 26, then we could get back together and be happy. So, I waited. I waited until I got a phone call the day after my 26th birthday from Harry, inviting me to a wedding. HIS wedding, to be exact. I knew I had to get Harry back. I'm not going to let seven years of waiting be wasted. I needed him back. And so the plotting began.

13. Anything Could Happen

**Song of the Chapter: Anything Could Happen by Ellie Goulding

I just let the words slip out, but I didn't regret them. Lacey was right, if you love someone, make sure they know. A crocked smile appeared on his face. He began to lean in as if he was about to kiss me, but I knew that we shouldn't. Lacey was looking for us, and while we were concealed, she knew of this bungalow. She'd be coming here soon enough.

I put my hand up to stop him. "Lacey will find us. Meet me back out here at midnight, when everyone will be asleep, okay? Tonight we both have to act like this never happened. We can sort it all out later."

His smile faded when I stopped him but he nodded his head in agreement. We left our little bungalow to go inside and start getting ready for the rehearsal dinner. We walked in silence but stupid smiles plastered on our faces and a million questions running through both of our minds.

**At The Dinner

The dinner was boring. Everything was so boring. Nothing had the excitement, no potential to keep my attention. We sat at a table and ate, the women gossiping and the men talking of sports.

I was off in my own world, however. Tapping my finger while resting my head in my other hand. Legs crossed and bobbing my leg to the classical music that was in the background.

Zayn had his hand on my lower back. It felt weird, with all that had just happened a little less than two hours ago. I glanced at the watch on my wrist at least a thousand times already, seeing if it was time to leave yet. The girls were there, Madelyn, Kaylyn, Lauryn, and Darcy. I think they knew something was up from all the glances they would send my way and the random questions that they'd ask even though they knew the answer to every single one of them.

"Rue, is everything alright? You seem jumpy?" Zayn asked from beside me. He whispered it in my ear so he wouldn't attract nosey and unwanted attention.

I looked up at him and I felt guilty. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just really bored."

I felt his hand grab mine and he offered a friendly smile, which I returned. Louis saw this and blurted out "are you two dating or something?!" catching the attention of the whole group of 24 at the table.

Zayn and I were both shy about the subject. We hadn't really established what we were. The night in Rome only happened last night. And then Harry came back in the picture. I didn't want to answer and ruin it with Harry. I do like Zayn, but it'll always be Harry.

"Well?" Louis asked impatiently.

"I don't know," was my lame reply.

"Zayn, are you two dating or not?"

He paused for a moment and looked at me then smiled. "Yeah, I think we are."

My stomach grew in knots from the guilt I was feeling. I didn't want to break up with Zayn yet. This will make me sound cruel, but why would I break up with him if Harry decides he doesn't want to be with me? Why can't I have a back-up? Zayn makes me happy, too. I'm just tired of being alone. If this doesn't work out, he won't have to know. Same goes for Harry and Lacey.

So instead of showing hesitance I just smiled at him and gave his hand squeeze.

Sorry this chapter is a bit of a filler, I just wanted to get the dinner our of the way. And my dinner is here so I had to cut it short. I may update again tonight because I may not be able to update Thursday-Saturday!

Thanks for the comments/favorites/likes! Keep 'em coming! :D
