5. Chapter 5

Anna has been gone for almost two weeks now today is her funeral. It seems like everyone from their building were there even some of her clients and a lot of kids from school even Charlie came it was nice to see all of them.

Amanda and Laurel were sitting in the car while they did finishing touches on there dresses and make-up.

"Amanda can you help me with my zipper please I think I got it even more stuck."

"Yeah it's stuck on the fabric…hold on...just a little tug...ok there you go." She looked Laurel  over.

"Do I look okay?" Laurel was so nervous.

"Laurel you look beautiful, are you ready?"

"Yeah, lets do this!" Laurel took a deep breath, grabbed her hand and opened the door.

Everyone looked their way as they walked up to the tent. Laurel thought about how more nervous she felt now. She hurried to her seat between Aunt Terri and Sandy she held their hands as she settled down. Louis and Amanda were standing behind her with their hands on her shoulders. Both Officers Douglas and Paxton were here they look very handsome it their suits.

The minister started to speak about Anna, Laurel sat with a vacant look on her face as she staring at the casket. After a while she heard her name, Sandy squeezed her hand it was time for Laurel to go up and talk. She stood up smoothed out her black dress and walked up next to the minister. She took one last deep breath and looked around she was surrounded by people she loved that made so that made nerves disapear.

"I would like to thank everyone for coming and showing their last respects to Anna, my mother. I want to start by saying that this is the hardest thing that I have ever had to do in my short sixteen years of life. To stand in front of our family and friends and say my final goodbyes to my mother and best friend. I'm going to miss our late night cravings for peanut butter and oreos. Even when she woke me up from a deep sleep just because a storm was coming, we would sit on the patio while it rained watching the lightning dance across the ocean. Playing dress up and then going out just to watch peoples reactions. I'm going to miss my mom she was amazing, smart, beautiful, funny, loving and well just an incredible woman I'm proud to be her daughter. So I ask you to search your minds, find your fondest memories of my Mother, and hold on to them tightly, lock them away and never let them go. She may not be with us in body but she will live forever in our hearts…I LOVE YOU MOM!"

Laurel walked back to her seat she couldn't hold back the tears anymore, Sandy and Aunt Terri stood up and pulled her into a hug I didn't want them to let me go. We sat down and the minister finished the service and announce that the reception will be held at Laurels place and that everyone is welcome.

They headed to her apartment after a while, there were already a lot of people there when they got home. Laurel spent the whole time talking to people they told her about times they had with Anna, or that they were sorry. She mostly just nodded and said thank you she really didn't know what else to say to them. After few hours people said their goodbyes. Both Officers Douglas and Paxton came well they said that she could call them by their first names which are Luke Douglas and Andy Paxton. Laurel like them and so did Aunt Terri she kept chatting with Luke every chance she had.

The next day they have to go talk to Mr. Machol Anna's lawyer, Laurel thought they were going to talk about her moms will and her guardianship. Aunt Terri said that she'll move in there's not really anything holding her back in Vegas. Laurel wondered what's would be in her moms will…She missed her so much.

"Hey Laurel, I'm gonna get out of here but you have a good night okay." Andy said as he put his hand on her shoulder.

"I will, thanks for coming you two have really made this easy for us." She placed her hand over his giving it a squeeze. They both looked at each other for a second then he gave her a long hug and then turned around a left. She watched him as he walked out he is so cute, what am I doing he's twenty-one, a cop and I'm just a kid to him. She thought to herself.

"You did an amazing job today your words were beautiful." It was Luke he was leaving too.

"Thank you so much for everything you've done, good night." I gave him a hug then left so Aunt Terri could say her goodbyes.

Sandy, Louis and Amanda were picking things up Laurel joined in the help. When they were done Sandy left for home. Louis was acting strange and Amanda was about to pass out she was staying the night so Laurel told her to go to her room to sleep. Amanda walked like a zombie up the stairs, Laurel laughed at her when she tipped.

"I'm okay…I'm okay…" she mumbled.

"Hey whats wrong with you?" Laurel turned to him he wouldn't look at her. "Louis what is it?" She got up and sat in his lap.

"You like him don't you?"

"What, who?"

"The cop…Andy!"

"Louis, are you kidding it's just a crush and plus he's twenty-one and a cop, it's never going to happen."

"It could!"

"Lou look at me, it's never going to happen okay."

"Okay…do you want me to stay over, or should I go home?" He looked so sad.

"You can stay, of course you can stay." She smiled and gave him hug and kissed his cheek. A smiled so big grew on his face.

"I'll pick the movie!" he jumped up and I fell to the floor with a thump. "I'm sorry!" he laughed.

"Yeah, sure you are." I couldn't help but laugh.

They didn't make it long into the movie before they fell asleep Laurel was in his arms and it was the best feeling in the world to her.
