21. Chapter 21

"I'm sorry I'm didn't fight for you?" He said as he cradled my face.

"It's okay, I had a great childhood, mom took really good care of me and I know she still loved you." I said

"What how do you know?" He asked.

"She never found anyone else, ha ha she always told me. "Your first love is who all your future loves is always based on and there is no one out there like my first he was the best ever...my only." So I was told that I was to never let the one get away like she did." I walked over to my purse on the counter and pulled out a photo I have been carrying it for years, I smiled when I handed it to him. "She told me once that you two just didn't work or well that she didn't let it work. Mom kept this in her purse I found it when I was 13 and I copied it before she noticed it was gone. Do you remember this?" He grabbed it Margo and Justin went to his side to see. It was a picture of mom, Jeremy and me sitting in one of the buckets on the ferris wheel at the pier. I was sitting on Jeremy's lap between them as they were both kissing me on my cheeks. "We looked so happy, you and mom look so young and in love so I always wanted to remember you like this. Not the man that left, but I will admit I have been mad at you at times and at her. Jeremy I don't care what the test says your my dad if not by blood you are in my heart I don't know the other guy and it don't seem like he wants to know me." I stated.

"Here why don't we take the test just in case we change our minds later but we don't have to look at the results or just wait until you get ahold of wait what's his name?" Jeremy asked.

"Mark…Mark Kindle!" I said.

"Yeah him and we can go from there okay?" He explained.

"Okay!" I agreed. "Are you ready, Margo could you please?" I asked as she nodded yes.

"Yeah lets do this!" He grabbed the box and handed it to Margo. She opened the box and got out the instructions and grabbed two paper towels from the holder and placed them on the counter. She  put on the gloves and place the small envelopes on the towels then the long cotton swabs.

"All I need to do is swab your inner cheek and then place it in the envelope and seal it. Okay who's first?"

"ME!" Jeremy said as he grabbed my hand giving me a smile, Justin came to his side. I could tell that Justin loved his dad by the way he protected him today. Margo grabbed the swab and rubbed it around in his mouth. She then placed it in the envelope and filled out the information. I opened my mouth as she walked up to me then she placed the swab on my cheek and rubbed it up and around. It left a strange taste in my mouth so I sat there moving my tongue around trying to get rid of the taste. Then she placed it in the small envelope starting to write done my information.

"Sorry Laurel what's your full name?" Before I could say anything Jeremy spoke.

"Laurel Aaron Bates, boy spelling not girl." He said with a smile on his face.

"Wait your middle name is Aaron like dads?" Justin asked.

"I guess I didn't know I always wondered why it was the boy spelling but I love that it was."I smiled.

"Yeah Anna didn't want to put my last name so she said I could give you whatever middle name I wanted. So I picked Aaron because it was mine and your mine." He explained. I just smiled at him that made me happy. Margo smiled at us as she placed the two small envelopes in the larger one and placed it on the counter.

"Okay I'll take this down to Mr. Machol in the morning." I said as they all agreed with me.

"So what are we going to do now?" Justin asked. It was 6:30 and I just noticed how hungry I was, just then my stomach growled.

"Oh your hungry, how about you two?" Jeremy asked looking around.

"Yeah I'm starving!" Justin mumbled.

"Me too hun, we all forgot, why don't we go out to eat?" Margo suggested.

"Wait we can't…not with me you amazing pop star!" Justin said quickly.

"Oh yeah, I forgot!" Margo said. "Why don't just we order in I bet Laurel knows of great places around here." She smiled.

"Or you three can just go without me and just bring me back something, I really want a burger." Justin suggested.

"I can stay with Justin, while you go get the food. I know a great diner that has the best burgers in town. If that's ok Justin that I keep you company?" I looked over to him and he had a huge grin on his face.

"The best huh, I guess we'll have to see about that." Justin laughed as he challenged me.

"I'm sure just ask for Sandy, tell you her you want the Santa Monica Best for Justin and then tell her that I'll have my dinner usual." I said looking around.

"Your dinner usual?" Jeremy Laughed.

"Ha ha yeah, mom wasn't the best cook, poor thing she tried but almost burning down the kitchen twice. We uh decided to eat at Sandy's diner a lot, or I would do the cooking even Louis and Amanda are better." I've been going there since I 2 years old I might be byece but it's amazing. Sandy and here family are best they were always here for me and mom." I smiled.

"Wait this is where she moved you?" Jeremy asked he looked surprised.

"Yeah, because she had the best memories here. We lived in a motel for a few months and then she got a waitress job at Sandy's diner we moved into the small house right behind it I lived there till I was 7. She went to school for business and then we moved in here after she graduated."

"I could of ran into you anytime I was always here with Justin."

"Ha we probably played together at the pier." Justin laughed looking at me.

"Probably!" I laughed. "Oh and could you get some cookies from there she'll know what I like."

"Does she have Peanut Butter cookies?" Justin Asked.

"Yeah Amanda loves them, could you make sure they get put in a different box from the others." I said.

"Oh god yeah, your allergic to peanuts. I remember when we found out I was never so scared in my life. Terri made you a peanut butter sandwich and you stopped breathing and turned blue by the time we got you to the hospital you were gurgling and your eyes were red. We had just made it they grabbed you from my arms and took you away. We all just stood there holding each other, then they came out and said you were fine and yes no more peanuts." He explained.

"Mom told me about that she said you threw everything out that had then even though you loved them." I laughed.

"I really don't remember the last time I had anything with peanuts." He laughed.

"Hun we should go get the food." Margo said.

"Oh yeah ok we'll be back, oh where are we going and what about the when we get back?" Jeremy said. I explained to him that it was just down the street he shouldn't miss it and to just call when he gets back.

"Wait let me give you some money!" I said walking over to the counter.

"No we got it!" Margo said.

"Okay thank you." I said as I walked them to the door. I just stood there for a moment thinking about my day and how amazing it was.
