Out To Find The Truth

Laurel is a happy, down to earth, beautiful, 16 year old girl but all that is about to change her, now that her mother has died, and she's on the search to find her father. The only clue she has is the two names her mother put in a letter written to her before her death. Is it the man the raised her until she was two years old who is the father of a major musical artist or a man that she knows nothing about?

12. Chapter 12

"Miss Laurel Bates?" He asked my eyes widen with the sound of my name I just nodded my head and gestured for him to sit down. He put his hand out and I shook it. I felt like my heart was about to jump out of my chest I was that nervous.

"Sorry I'm just really nervous, how are you doing?" I said taking a sip of my tea the aroma of the mint tickled my nose.

"I'm doing very well, it's normal to be nervous in this type of situation." He stated, he then opened his briefcase and pulled out a thick folder.

"Umm would you like me to get you something to drink?" I asked not taking my eyes off of the folder.

"Oh no thank you, I already ordered the waitress will be bringing it out. Okay Miss Bates…"

"Sorry but you can call me Laurel if you want" I said as I cut him off.

"Very well Laurel where would you like to start?" He asked Opening the file.

"I'm not sure, um why don't you start with how you already have information because I just called you this morning and I didn't give any names?"

"Okay no problem, your mother contacted me about a five months ago she wanted me to get whatever I could about Mr. Davis I believe he was the one there when you were a baby?" I just nodded yes. "Okay and Mr. Kindle you never meet?" I nodded again. "I have a lot of information about Mr. Davis and I was wondering what you know about him since he is in the public eye."

I was so confused I didn't know what he was talking about. "What do you mean the public eye is he in trouble?" I asked him I felt  voice crack what did he do thats all I thought of and then the waitress brought over his drink and he took a sip from it.

"Wow your mother never talked about him at all? You really don't know who Jeremy Davis is?" He was so surprised, I couldn't bring myself to say anything so I just shook my head no. "Jeremy Davis is the father of the pop singer Justin Davis." He explained and grabbed a few pictures out of the folder I recognized the first one I have it in my room on my mirror it's me as a baby sleeping on his chest while he's was napping he's was only 17. I smiled as I look it, then I flipped to the next one it's him standing with Justin at some concert…it's him older looking...but him.

"Have you talked to him does he know you were looking into him?" I asked.

"No I was told not to contact him by your mother, she wanted that to be your choice." He explained. "Okay and now about Mr. Kindle he lives in Beverly Hills with his wife and three children. He is a well known Plastic Surgeon. I am going to give you this folder it has all of their contact information, your mother told me to tell you to look through it and that it is your choice on what to do with it. If there is anything else you need please just let me know, also call Mr. Machol when you are ready for the paternity test if you choose to go ahead with this. Laurel it was so lovely to finally meet you your mother spoke very highly of you." The waitress came over and asked if everything was ok I didn't look up I was to interested in the information. He asked if he could get his drink into a togo cut.

"I'm sorry this is short but I have another meeting to get to across town I just really wanted to meet you and get this information to you asap." He said as he stood up placing some money on the table for the waitress, I got up from my chair as well and shook his hand.

"Thank you so very much for everything Mr. Ferrel you are the best." I said as I gave him a huge smile, he smiled back and then walked into the cafe to get his drink.

I sat back down to my thoughts were soaring in my mind, one of these men is my father I took out a picture of Mr. Kindle he was so handsome he has dark hair, maybe my nose he has a bump like me but so did Mr. Davis. I have green eyes like mom so they both have blue, ha ha mom did have a type. I put everything back in the folder and finished my tea. I reached in my purse and grabbed some money and placed it with Mr. Ferrels. Time to go home and do some reading I guess.  Amanda is going to freak she love's Justin Davis she says that she would go straight for him…ha ha maybe she's bi?

Amanda POV

"Hey Janet do you know where Louis went" I asked my boss.

"I sent him to the back to sort out the DVD's he was killing my buzz, he's in such a mood today isn't he?" A sour look grew on her face she wasn't mad she's to high to be mad. I loved having her as a boss she was a hippie type real laid back and amazing.

"Yeah he is, It's slow is it okay if I go back and talk to him?" I asked.

"Yeah that's cool." She said as she played a game on her phone.

The store was empty we only had a small rush today, I walked to the back and opened the door very quietly Louis was standing at the back table sorting DVD's by category. He was quiet not even singing to the radio like he always did. He's been quiet ever since we left Laurel's place I know they were arguing just don't know what about, well I was about to find out.

"Okay Lou what is going on?" I demanded, I must of been super quiet because he jumped at the sound of my voice.

"Dammitt Amanda quit sneaking around, and nothing is going on. Go away!" He screamed. I felt horrible my eyes started to water  he never yelled at me like that before I just stood there in shock. He just stood there and then slowly turned to face me he walked up to me when he saw my tears running down my cheeks. He wrapped me up in his arms holding me tight he looked down at me and cradled my face in his hand. "I sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you like that please forgive me." He said. I just nodded my head yes he then planted a kiss on my forehead.

"Whats wrong?" I asked softly.

"It's dumb, it really is I just don't get why she doesn't have feelings for me like I do for her." He said.

"Lou you've never even given another girl a chance, you always compare them to us."

"Yeah I know that's because I love you guys and your my best friends. Why wouldn't I want someone like you too it's not like your into me and she's certainly not." He let me go and went to sit on the table I went and sat next to him. God only if he knew that I did like him ever since that kiss when we were younger. Don't get me wrong I still like girls but I always liked him but he obviously loved Laurel so I never told them that I am bisexual I just didn't want to get hurt.

"Your dumb Lou you'll never find girls like us we're one of a kind." I smiled as I shoved his shoulder lightly.

"Ain't that the truth you are special" He put his arm around my shoulder holding me close I loved every second of it. "Maybe I should let her go I can't keep getting so upset and she can hug whoever she wants." He said looking off in the distance.

"Wait what who did she hug?" I shouted.

"Oh that cop Andy it was this morning when they were doing the dishes I totally acted like a kid who had his favorite toy taken away." My mouth dropped when I heard what he was saying.

"Damn girl lucky her he's hot as hell. Oops sorry."

"Ha ha it's okay… Ugh I'll go over there after work and apologize to her." He said.

"Okay I'm going with, don't worry I'll give you space so you can apologize for being an ass okay." I declared. "I better get back out there before Janet falls asleep on the counter." We both laughed, the sad thing was that it was so true she would make a pillow out of a stack of DVD's and then drool all over them. I stood up from the table and Louis grabbed my hand and pulled me into a long hug and kissed my forehead again it was nice.

"What was that for?" I asked as I looked up to him.

"Just for you being you, thanks for the chat I feel a lot better now." He said as he release me from his strong grasps. "Hey can you please take these up front for me please?"

"Anytime, hey give me that stack too I need something to do today. We're so slow right now ugh." I grumbled. He came up to me with with another high stack of DVD's. I walked out to the front there was only an older couple in the store they were looking at movies in the horror section they were cute. I walked up to the front and I couldn't find Janet until I walked around the the counter there she was sleeping on the floor. I'll just let her sleep it's not like she's much help and plus we're not really busy.
