1. Keeping it Real

Who am I? Well, who do I think I am? A nobody. Simple answer and the one that makes the most sense to me. How do you define who you are? I've never seen the handbook that lets you tell your future and the person you are by looking at the lines on your hand. What does it matter if you know who you are? The second simple answer...you don't.

At least, that is what I used to think. Some people say that keeping it real is trying to be out of the spotlight and hidden away from others. I used to think that, too. It makes sense. But yet, it's not at all true. Keeping it real isn't staying away from the spotlight, keeping it real is being in the spotlight if that's what your mind says is you. And that's the route I would most like to travel down. The voice inside your head telling you what you want and not what you think that others would want from you. Keeping it real is listening to that little voice telling you to do the spontaneous things because who the heck cares what anybody else thinks. I sure don't.

I don't think it matters if your the popular kid or the most successful pop star making millions of dollars. This isn't success if you don't have the drive to do it and its others telling you that's what they want you to do because, again, who cares what they think of you. The only person that really matters when questioning the person you are is you, and if you're questioning yourself, this isn't you talking.

I'm not saying that you should block others out from your life because they're just gonna knock you down, I'm just saying that you need to be with people that accept you for you and don't try to change you or haze you into being like them. Don't try to be the popular kid if hanging out with the popular kids make you sick, it shouldn't matter who you're with as long as that person makes you feel good and like you don't have to watch yourself because if you say what you feel, they'll hurt you. If this is the way it is, then they shouldn't be your friends and you shouldn't hang out with them. They're gonna turn out to be jerks and not the kind of people that you are, just the people you would rather be than yourself. And you should never feel like the person you are isn't good enough because you are. You just have to look for it and sometimes the other people find it in themselves as we'll just like you.
