3. The Argument

Justin’s POV

I had gotten basically no sleep and had the most painful headache. I groggily turned over in my bed only to see Courtney sitting at my desk giving me a toothy grin. I was slightly surprised to see her there and groaned mentally. Does that girl ever take the hint that I don’t want her near me? Seriously, she’s is really starting to piss me off. Shaking away my inward thoughts, I put on my famous crooked smile and placed my hands behind my head.

“What are you doing here Courtney? I thought you left after the bar yesterday?” I asked curiously, raising my eyebrow, I DON’T WANT YOU IN MY ROOM! But I kept the last part to myself.

“Oh, you know…” She looked at me under her lashes as she bit her lip, “just wondering if you would drive me to school?” I wanted to roll my eyes and tell her to leave me alone, but that would be rude. So I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose, a habit that I got from my mum.

“Not today Courtney, maybe next time?” I shrugged my shoulders and adverted my eyes from her. I briefly heard her huff as she got up and slammed my bedroom door behind her. I ran my hand through my hair and got out of bed, making my way towards my bathroom to clean up. Once showered, I quickly got dressed and grabbed my cell phone, keys, and wallet before descending from my room towards the kitchen.

I pushed the door to the kitchen open just wanting to grab a bottle of water and find something to kill my headache only to stop when I saw my mum sitting at the table. I involuntarily ran my hands up and down my face. Every time when my mum and I had a conversation, it would turn into an argument. I immediately straightened my back and tried to walk passed her without her noticing, but of course, my plan backfired.

“And where do you think you’re going?” She looked away from the newspaper she had been reading and locked her eyes to mine.

"To school, and look if you're here to lecture me, can you at least make it quick?" I waved my hands in front of her exasperatingly.

I noticed she had set the paper down flat on the table, as she rubbed her left hand all over her face. "Justin, all this attitude has got to stop. I wasn't going to lecture you about anything. I was just going to say ‘enjoy your day at school’ but obviously you jumped to conclusions, like you always do. Today is the first day back at school after the holidays so I expect you to behave yourself properly. I don’t want to hear from Principal Kingston more than five times this semester. Got it?” She raised her eyebrow at me and gave me a stern look - obviously waiting for some sort of acknowledgment - so I just gave a small nod in reply.

With that, I slung my bag over my shoulder, grabbed a piece of bread and proceeded to exit through the side door and make my way to my Porsche.

I sped off down the driveway, occasionally glancing down at the time on my phone, praying that I won’t be late for school.

I pulled up in front of the school gates and parked in a random spot, not realising that it was her spot, until she stood in front of me, fuming angrily with her hands crossed over her chest. I chuckled to myself as she looked like a replica of an angry kitten.

“What do you want Gomez?” I asked with a smug smile. “You just couldn’t stay away from me could you?”

A scowl formed on her face as she gave me some sarcastic remark, stating that the parking spot was hers. I had to hold in a smirk as I saw her defiantly raise her chin before staring at me with those deep chocolate pools of hers.

"It’s not yours. I don’t see a sign on it saying ‘Selena’s property’ anywhere!" I glared at her, obviously wanting her to give in. But of course, being her usual stubborn self, she refused to drop the topic. She pointed out how I said that the spot was for ‘losers’ and started waving her small hands in front of my face, causing my irritation to deepen.

“You know what, you’re right,” I leaned down, holding her stare. I saw the corner of her lips turn up as she started to make some stupid comment about me giving in. But she should know by now that I don’t give in without a good fight. So I quickly added that I only wanted to park in her spot to get a reaction out of her. Before she could say anything, I turned and walked away from her with anger still coursing through my veins. This girl seriously knew how to piss me off.
