Selena's POV

"So what's so good about the Colosseum?" Justin asked me glancing warily at everyone busy taking pictures of the huge stadium in front of us.

"Well, it was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, so it was basically used for entertainment in the early medieval era." I replied, mentally patting myself on the back of how well all that information came out.

Justin scoffed, "Whatever."

I rolled my eyes and continued to study the Colosseum ignoring him as I did.

Justin's POV

Time seemed to drag on as we finally noted down all the features of Italy. I flopped back on the bed in our hotel room when suddenly, I came up with an idea.

"Hey after today's hard work, why don't we drop down to a club and just relax for the rest of the night?"

Selena stared at me with a look of disbelief in her eyes. "Me, club? No thanks."

"Oh come on! Don't be a party pooper! We're young and we're teenagers! Let's have some fun!" I walked towards her, trying to convince her.

"Going to a club is not my idea of fun..." she muttered, turning away from me.

I sighed and racked my brains for any idea to get her to come with me and smiled smugly when a thought came over me.

"Pleaassee?" I pulled my best puppy face that makes every girl melt. I pouted my lip and made my eyes big. I could see her resolve already starting to weaken.

"Alright fine, I'll go." Selena announced reluctantly not before muttering, "I'm so going to regret this later." under her breath.

Selena's POV

I stayed at the side of the room with Justin, drinking too much coke. I could feel my body buzzing hyperactively and I was full of energy. It didn't mean that I wanted to dance.

I slid my glass on to a nearby table so that I wouldn't be tempted to drink any more caffeine-saturated liquid to pass the time.

"Are you okay?" Justin asked as the music turned slow.

I nodded warily, watching as the more energetic dancers left the floor to get refreshments and a few more couples stood up to dance in the middle.

I felt Justin's gaze on me for a long time. Then he put his glass next to mine and took my hand.

"If I asked you," he whispered in my ear, "would you dance with me?"

I looked up at him in surprise. "No," I whispered back.

"Why not?"

"I can't dance," I replied honestly.

"You know I could always make you," he said, a smile on his lips.

"I'm not scared of you," I told him. "Besides, I'd stamp on your feet and your toes would turn black and fall off."

"I don't mind." There was no hint of sarcasm in his tone. I couldn't believe that I was having this conversation with Justin Bieber.

I pulled my hand out of his. "Don't be silly," I muttered. "Don't you like having ten toes?"

He chuckled and seized my hand again. Then he pulled me toward the centre of the room, his iron strength too much for me to fight. "Don't worry, Selena," he said softly. "It's all in the leading."

"What?" I gasped, my throat tight.

He smiled fondly at my panicked expression. "Smile," he reminded me as the song came to a close, ready for the next slow one to begin.

I tried, but it probably looked like I was baring my teeth, growling at him, rather than smiling.

Justin put his hand on my waist and placed one of mine on his shoulder. He took my spare hand in his own and I could feel people watching already. I gulped. This was going to be a disaster.

Justin's POV

Selena looked absolutely petrified. I didn't understand. Dancing wasn't that hard. Like I had told her, it was all in the leading. Did this simply prove how little trust she had in me?

"Relax," I whispered soothingly. "Calm."

"Yes," Selena breathed. "Calm." But she didn't look like it.

The next song started then, and I recognized it instantly. Awareness lit Selena's eyes as well, and I guessed that she did too. The club was filled with hushed whispers as 'Catching Feelings' played in the background.

I listened closely to the beautiful melody, but it was the lyrics that caught, and held my attention.

The sun comes up on another morning
My mind never wakes up without your warning
And it's crazy to me, I even see you in my dreams
Is this meant to be? could this be happening to me

We were best of friends since we were this high
So why do I get nervous every time you walk by
We would be on the phone all day
Now I can't find the words to say to you
Now what i'm supposed to do

Could there be a possibility
I'm trying to see what's up
Cause i'm made for you, and you for me
Baby now is time for us
Tryna I keep it all together
But enough is enough
They say we're too young for love
But i'm catching feelings, catching feelings

The song came to an end and I rested my forehead against Selena's, forgetting about the people watching us.

"See?" I whispered. "That wasn't so bad."

Selena laughed under her breath, but the sound, sounded bitter.

"Why?" She asked, staring up at me.

I frowned at her. "Why what?"

"Why are you being so nice to me?"

I ignored the twinge of panic in my own stomach as I replied. "What? You think that I'm an arrogant jerk who cares about nothing but himself?"

Selena didn't reply.

"Look, is there a reason why I can't be nice to you?"

Selena pursed her lips. "Well, I'm … me, and you're you ... You hate me. Everyone hates me."

I sighed, exasperated. I pulled her outside and cupped her face in my hands. "Selena," I said firmly. "I do not hate you. How can I prove that to you? I like you Selena. You're an amazing person and I feel… terrible about some of the things I said to you before this project."

Selena blinked at me. "Really?"

"Really," I said quietly. I like you, I thought sarcastically. Selena, I don't like you. I'm in love with you.

"So you still want to be friends after the project?" she asked

.

"Yes," I answered instantly, though I wanted to be much more. "Come on, it's getting cold. Let's head back to the hotel."

I held out my hand for Selena to take, which she did, and guided her back to the hotel.
