"I assumed." Seth muttered and stepped around Chris.  He pulled a flashlight out of his brown leather tool belt and clicked it once.  A long, dark tunnel appeared before us and I had to clench my fists to prevent myself from jerking back.  Wandering into a dark tunnel does not seem like the safest thing to do during a virus outbreak.  Seth seemed to sense my uncertainty and smirked before clicking the flashlight off.  The tunnel seemed to disappear and the only light was illuminated from June's flashlight. I heard loud footsteps exit the area and echo along the tunnel followed by Seth's laughter.  Chris sighed loudly and clicked on his own flashlight before approaching us.

"Don't mind him, he's always like that." he assured us and motioned for us to follow.  "On second thought, maybe you should."

June bent over and handed me some of the weapons to carry.  As I skimmed along the tunnel, I felt something clack against my side.  Wait a second, is that what I think it is?  I reached into my pocket with my free hand and felt a cool small metal against my fingers.  My iPod Touch!  Oh dear God, I hope it's alive.  Music is my life and it's been a couple of days since I've heard the sound.  I clicked the home button once and became overwhelmed with happiness when it responded by presenting me with the slide screen.  Silently, I slid the iPod Touch back into my pocket and jogged to catch up to June who was about twenty feet behind Chris. After a couple minutes of silence traveling through the tunnels, I decided to ask the question June and I both wanted to know the answer to.

"Where are we going, exactly?" my voice echoed back and forth down the tunnel until it sounded like a whisper.

"Back to base-camp.  We were originally going to look for food and medicine, but seeing that the dead followed you both here, we're just going back."

We were approaching a split in our passageway, and Chris walked down the right tunnel without hesitation as if he'd done it a million times before.  My mind began to drift as we continued on and I found myself wondering about our current situation.  Are there more survivors?  What do Chris and Seth think of this?  How old are they?  Do they even have weapons?  Are they thinking of stealing ours?  I shook my head and continued to follow Chris.  He suddenly stopped walking and waited for us to catch up.  "What?  Why did you stop?" June sounded a bit impatient.  "We're here." he looked up and I followed his gaze.  A soft light spilled out of the open man hole cover.  Seth's head came into view, he was eating something.  He saw us and rolled his eyes before disappearing again.  Chris climbed up the ladder quickly and I clambered after him, June at my heels.  When I climbed out of the ground, the sunlight blinded my eyes.  That, plus the cut on my head and being sleep deprived, resulted in a major headache.  I winced and shaded my eyes with my free arm while June climbed out.

"Relax. It's just the sunlight." Seth snorted.

My new mortal enemy.
