Ronan Thompson was a four year old boy that died of Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that develops from the nerve tissue. He has inspired me so much and reading his mothers blog really upset me and inspired me to put that emotion into a tribute story. So here's to brave little Ronan Thompson!

2. A Trip Back To When Everything Was Okay

Ronan lay there under a white sheet, motionless.I couldn't believe it, my baby dead? This was some joke. I knew that it was going to happen sometime, just not this soon.

The doctor put his hand on my shoulder as I wiped away the tears streaming down my face. I shook his hand off and walked away, I couldn't look at Ronan anymore. Not when he was like that.

Liam and Quinn were sitting on the sofa when I arrived home. They sat watching the television blissfully, not aware of me. They didn't fully understand Ronan's condition, they just knew that their younger brother had gone to a happier place.

I walked through the room, not disturbing the boys as they started to sing along to a song that was playing from the television. As soon as I got into the kitchen I burst into tears. They wouldn't stop, it was like a case of laughter, you need to be mentally strong to stop yourself laughing suddenly.

My husband, Woody ran through from the study. "Maya, what's wrong?" He said, then he paused and looked around. "Where's Ronan?"

"He's . . . oh, Woody he's . . . dead," I said between sobs.

Woody had frozen, his face dropped. His eyes filled with tears, that was the first time I had ever seen him cry. He wrapped his arms around me and squeezed tight. "Everything will be okay Maya, everything will be fine."

I wish everything was fine. I wish I could take a trip back to when everything was okay, when Ronan was still alive.
